【析句】先抓主干，as diet and health improved,children and adolescents have incresed in...by...。也就是说，主干是由主句和as引导的时间状语从句组成。主句中，注意on average作插入语，句子最后，a pattern known as the decular trend in height 中，a pattern作同位语，known as...则是过去分词作定语。

3. Washington, who had begun to believe that all men were created equal after observing the bravery of the black soldiers during the Revolutionary War, overcame the strong opposition of his relatives to grant his slaves their freedom in his will. (2008. 阅读. Text 4)

【译文】华盛顿在目睹了美国独立战争中黑人士兵的英勇之后开始相信人人生就平等。于是，不顾亲属的反对，他解放了自己所有的奴隶。

【析句】本例句主要由主句和一个定语从句组成。先看主句，Washington overcame...oppostion...to grant...will,to grant...不定式结构作目的状语；再看从句，紧跟在Washington后，who had begun to believe-定语从句，定语从句中，all men were created equal作believe的宾语从句，after observing the bravery...是时间状语。
