本单元围绕“动物园里的动物”的话题展开，紧接上单元话题“牧场上的动物”，本单元重点介绍了动物园里的动物以及以及与之相关的外形特征、数字、居住地、食性等。Lesson 9在Lesson 7和Lesson8学习的基础上，提出了动物园里动物的数量，从而学习数字。数字学习在上册书中接触到了，这里又进一步加深数字的学习，不仅要听、说、而且还要书写，并用句型“How many..?”进行问答。
