两百多年前,德国有个音乐家叫贝多芬,他谱写了许多著名的乐曲。
其中有一首著名的钢琴曲叫《月光曲》[1],传说是这样谱成的。
有一年秋天,贝多芬去各地旅行演出,来到莱茵河边的一个小镇上。
一天夜晚,他在幽静的小路上散步,听到断断续续的钢琴声从一所茅屋里传出来,弹的正是他的曲子。
贝多芬走近茅屋,琴声忽然停了,屋子里有人在谈话。
一个姑娘说:“这首曲子多难弹啊!我只听别人弹过几遍,总是记不住该怎样弹。
要是能听一听贝多芬自己是怎样弹的,那有多好啊!”一个男的说:“是啊,可是音乐会的入场券(quàn)太贵了,咱们又太穷。

一阵风把蜡烛吹灭了。
月光照进窗子,茅屋里的一切好像披上了银纱,显得格外清幽。
贝多芬望了望站在他身旁的兄妹俩,借着清幽的月光,按起了琴键。
皮鞋匠静静地听着。
他好像面对着大海,月亮正从水天相接的地方升起来。
微波粼粼的海面上,霎时间洒满了银光。
月亮越升越高,穿过一缕一缕轻纱似的微云。
忽然,海面上刮起了大风,卷起了巨浪。
被月光照得雪亮的浪花,一个连一个朝着岸边涌过来……皮鞋匠看看妹妹,月光正照在她那恬(tián)静的脸上,照着她睁得大大的眼睛。
她仿佛也看到了,看到了她从来没有看到过的景象,月光照耀下的波涛汹(xiōng)涌的大海。
兄妹俩被美妙的琴声陶醉了。
等他们苏醒过来,贝多芬早已离开了茅屋。
他飞奔回客店,花了一夜工夫,把刚才弹的曲子——《月光曲》记录了下来。
《月光曲》:即《月光奏鸣曲》或《月光》。

1932年秋天,我在上海英商汽车公司当卖票的。
一天中午,我去接班,天空正飞着牛毛细雨,离接班的时间还有半个钟头。
我心想:到内山书店去吧,在那里躲一会儿雨,顺便歇歇也好。
店里没有一个顾客,只有后面柜台旁边的两个人在谈笑。
我向里面望了一下阴天,暗得很,只能模糊辨出坐在南首的是一个瘦瘦的、五十上下的中国人。
我站在书架前,开始翻书。
门外,细雨烟似的被秋风扭着卷着,不分方向地乱飞。
店里冷得像地窖(jiào)一样,冷气从裤管里向上钻。
忽然,我看见架上排着一列中文的《毁灭》[1]。
《毁灭》?我记得一本什么杂志上介绍过,说是一本好书。
书脊上赫(hè)然印着鲁迅译
(yì)三个字,我像得到了保证似的,立刻从书架上抽下一本。
我先看后记,但是看完第一面就翻不开了:书没有切边。
一个矮小而结实的.日本中年人内山老板走了过来。
先生,这本书多少钱?对于同情中国的内山老板,我总是带着几分敬意叫先生的。
他殷勤地点头,接过书翻了翻底页:一块四。
我不好意思地笑了一下,摸摸里衫上的衣袋袋里只剩一块多钱,那是我和一个同住的失业工友几天的饭费。
我有些懊(ào)悔自己的莽(mǎng)撞了,红了脸,说:贵了。
他没有注意到我的窘相,用粗短的手指捻(niǎn)着那张绿色厚布纹纸的封面:哪里贵?你看这纸
厚实的纸张,清晰的字迹,相当厚的一大本书,拿在手里,有一种怪舒服的感觉。
你买一本吧,这书是很好的。
我真踌躇起来了:饭是不能不吃的,然而书也太好了,买一本放在床头,交班回来,带着那种软绵绵的疲倦躺着看这么几十页,该多好!我摩挲(suō)着那本书,舍不得丢开,不说买,也不说不买。
内山老板大概看出点什么苗头,就笑着回头对里面说了一句日语,原先和内山老板说话的那个老人咬着烟嘴走了出来。
他的面孔黄里带白,瘦得教人担心,好像大病新愈的人,但是精神很好,没有一点颓(tuí)唐的样子。
头发约莫一寸长,显然好久没剪了,却一根一根精神抖擞地直竖着。
胡须很打眼,好像浓墨写的隶体一字。
你要买这本书?他看了我一眼。
那种正直而慈祥的目光,使我立刻感到身上受了父亲的抚摩严肃和慈爱交织着的抚摩似的。
是的。
我低低地说。
他从架上抽下一本书来,版式纸张和《毁灭》一模一样,只是厚一点,封面上印着两个字:铁流[2]。
他用竹枝似的手指递给我,小袖管紧包在腕子上:你买这本书吧这本比那本好。
他是谁?对我这样一个平日被人轻视的工人进行那样诚恳的劝告?我一进门的时候就有点疑惑,现在更加疑惑了;虽然猜不出是谁,但自己断定:一定是一个不平常的人。
我一翻那定价:一元八角!
先生,我买不起,我的钱不够我的话低得连自己都听不见了,我不知道怎样才好。
一块钱你有没有?一块钱!
有!我抬起头,顿时恢复了勇气。
我卖给你,两本,一块钱。
什么?我很惊异地望着他:黄里带白的脸,瘦得教人担心;头上直竖着寸把长的头发;牙黄羽纱的长衫;隶体一字似的胡须;左手里捏(niē)着一枝黄色烟嘴,安烟的一头已经熏
(xūn)黑了。
这时,我忽然记起哪本杂志上的一段访问记哦!您,您就是我结结巴巴的,欢喜得快要跳起来了。
一定是!不会错,一定是!那个名字在我的心里乱蹦,我向四周望了望,可没有蹦出来。
他微笑着,默认地点了点头,好像我心里想要说的,他已经统统知道了一样。
这一来不会错了,正是他!憎(zēng)恶黑暗有如憎恶魔鬼,把一生的时光完全交给了我们的民族.一位越老越顽强的战士!我又仔细地看他的脸瘦!我们这位战士的健康,差不多已完全给没有休息的艰苦工作毁坏了。
他带着奖励似的微
笑,指着《铁流》对我说道:这书本来可以不要钱的,但是是曹先生的书,现在只收你一块钱本钱;我那一本,是送你的。
我费力地从里衫的袋里掏出那块带着体温的银元,放到他的手里他的手多瘦啊!我鼻子陡然一阵酸,像要哭出来。
我恭敬地鞠了一躬,把书塞进帆布袋,背起来便走出书店的门。
这事到现在已经隔了四年。
在这四年里,我历尽艰苦,受尽非人的虐(nüè)待,我咬紧了牙,哼都不哼一声。
我总是昂着头。
我对自己说:
鲁迅先生是同我们一起的!
