句子层次考点和 4 个词组层次考点 , 而测试 2 则分 别有 4 个语篇层次考点 、 5 个句子层次考点和 11 个 词组层次考点 。 从表中我们明显发现测试 1 中各个 题目的考点层次都高于或等于测试 2 中相对应题目 的考点层次 。 具体讲 , 总共有 7 个题目的考点层次 高于测试 2 中 相对应 题目的 考点层 次 , 其 余则相 同。 因为开放式完形填空试题要求受试能够根据语 篇进行产生性语言运用 , 而选择式完形填空则由于 提供了选择项 , 完全排除了产生性语言运用 , 这样 选择式填空试题的自由度便被大大限制了 , 考点的 制约范围也缩小了 , 考点层次也就降级 , 减弱了完 形填空试题的综合性 , 即试题效度 。 表一的效度系 数也印证了这一点 。 因此 , 只要考试材料相同 , 所 删除词的位置也相同 , 开放式完形试题题目考点层 次就必然高于或等同于选择式完形填空相对应题目 的考点层次 ( 绝大多数情况下都高于) 。 这种对考 点层次的分析和分类 , 对完形填空试题来说非常重 要 , 因为它与答题的推理过程紧密相关 , 直接影响 到试题的难度和区分度 。 4. 3 推理因素 心理语言 学研究 表明 , 推理 是一 个复杂 的过 程 。 它首先要求受试能够利用当前的信息来激活长 时记忆中与答题相关的信息 , 然后要求受试将激活 的信息与当前的信息在工作记忆中加以综合 , 引出 新的判断 。 能否利用当前的信息激活与答题相关的 信息 , 能否将所激活的信息与当前信息进行有机的 综合 , 构成了推理过程的两大要素 。 语言学研究也 表明 , 高层次的考点 , 在测试高 层次能力的同时 , 必然也测试到低层次的能力 。 在完形填空测试中 , 语篇层次的考点 , 自然也考到句子层次 、 词组层次 和单词层次的能力 。 因此 , 从推理过程来看 , 如果 完形填空试题短文相同 , 所删词也相同 , 但却因题 型不同而使某一题目在不同题型中呈现不同的考点 层次 , 那么 , 高层次的考点题目所含推理过程便必 然会多于低层次考点题目 。 对于问题的解决 , 有时 只需要激活一种信息 , 有时却需激活几种信息 。 受 试只要有一次无法激活与解决问题相关的信息 , 或

因本实验两次测试所用短文完全相同 , 且所删 除的词及位置也完全相同 , 因此受试在两次测试中 似乎应取得相同的分数 。 然而实验结果表明 , 两次 测试无论在难度 、 区分度及效度方面都有相当大的 差异 。 表一显示 , 试题 1 的难度大于试题 2 , 而区 分度和效度却高于测试 2 。 下面我们就造成这种差 异的可能原因加以讨论 。 4. 1 猜测因素 语言学家 桑戴克 ( E .L .T horndike ) 将猜测 行为概括为 5 种 , 即 : ( 1) 使用完全随机的方法瞎猜 ;( 2) 排除那些 被认为是错误的选择项 ;( 3) 利用上下文或选择项 所提供的语义或语法提示 ;( 4) 受干扰项的吸引而 进行猜测 ; ( 5) 受命题者所出的那些读起来似乎合 情合理而实际却非正确答案的误导 。 据此划分 , 我们发现 , 如果考生想得到正确答 案 , 那么对不理解的题目 进行猜测是不可避免的 。

( 2) 两份试题所用 短文完全相同 , 且每份试 题所删 除的词的 位置 ( 即所删 除的词 ) 也 完全相 同。 ( 3) 试题 1 为开放式完形填空题 , 即允许受试 填任何可接受词的完形填空题 ;试题 2 为选择式完 形填空题 , 即在短文后 , 针对每个空提供 4 个选择 项 , 其中 1 项为答案 。 笔者要求两个受试班做试题 1 , 其余两个受试 班做试题 2 。 4 个受试班的学生好 、 中 、 差分布基 本相同 , 且平时考试的平均成绩也基本相同 。 我们 将做测试 1 的两个班看作一个样本 , 做测试 2 的两 个班看作另一个样本 。 统计刚刚结束的期中考试精 读 、 泛读 、 听力成绩 , 第一样本和第二样本的平均 成绩分别为 75. 1 和 74. 2 , 标准差为 4. 21 和 3. 74 , P <0. 05 。 因此可以将受试做两份不同的试题看作 是同一受试群体进行了两次不同的测试 ( 以下简称 为测试 1 、 测试 2 , 试题见附录) 。 3. 3 实验过程 让 120 名受试同时开始和结束测试 , 时间为 20 分钟 。 4. 实验结果及分析与讨论 测试完毕后 , 我们利用题目分析理论统计每次 测试的平均难度 、 区分度和效度 , 结果如下 : 表一

就开放式完形填空题型而言 , 倘若受试无法理解某 个空格前后的上下文或整个语篇 , 而又想得出正确 答案 , 那么他在浩瀚的英语词汇中猜中答案的机率 几乎为 零 。 但 是在 选择式 完形 填空 题型 中 ( 4选 1) , 即使受试对语篇根本不理解 , 或对 4 个选择项 也根 本不理解 , 其猜中 答案的机 率仍为 25 %。 因 此 , 纯粹从盲目猜测的概率角度看 , 只要试题所用 语篇相同 , 所删除的词相同 , 毫无疑问受试在开放 式完形填空题中的得分肯定会低于在选择式完形填 空题中的得分 。 倘若受试知道 部分选择项的意思 , 那么他猜中正确答案的机率便会更高 。 所以 , 猜测 因素首先解释了为什么受试总会觉得开放式完形填 空试题难于选择式完形填空试题的部分原因 。 4. 2 考点层次因素 按照从小到大的顺序 , 完形填空题的考点有 4 个不同的层次 :单词层次 、 词组层次 、 句子层次和 语篇层次 。 单词层次指在选择式完形填空试题中 , 受试只 要看单词 , 无须看单词之外的上下文 , 就能决定选 择何项为答案 。 词组层次指空格所需要填的词 , 和它前后的词 有固定的搭配关系 , 只要看空格前或后的词便能决 定该填什么词 。 句子层次指一个空格需要填什么词 , 本句之内 就可以决定 , 不用超出句子的范围 。 语篇层次指空格需要填什么词 , 光看本句还不 够 , 还需要超出句子范围而在语篇层次上加以考虑 才能决定 。 以上考点层次分类和综述表明 , 语篇层次考点 的题目 , 显然比单词层次的题目更能测试出受试运 用语言的能力 。 依据考点层次的下义和分类 , 我们 对测试 1 和测试 2 的每个空格的考点层次进行分析 和归纳 , 其结果如下 : 表二
