一、特殊效果按照电影的类型和风格可使用不同的特殊效果技法，大体分类如下。
1 特殊化妆(Special Make-up)从简单的老人化妆到狼人，“拯救大兵瑞恩”，“星舰骑兵”等影片中的伤员和弥留之际的士兵都是用特殊化妆手法来表现的。
传统的特殊化妆耗费很多时间和金钱，因为特殊化妆用的材料价格高昂，而且熟练的化妆师也很少。

2 电子动画学（Animatronics）Animatronics是Animation和Electronics的合成词，是利用电气、电子控制等手段制作电影需要的动物、怪物、机器人等的技术。
一句话就是制作机器人演员的技术。
“星球大战”中的R2D2，“侏罗纪公园”中的恐龙，“勇敢者的游戏”中的狮子和蜘蛛，都是用Animatronics制作的演员。
在Animatronics领域中，最有权威的人士当数费尔·提贝，他在电影“侏罗纪公园”和“星舰骑兵”中担任过电子动画效果监督。
目前Animatronics在Motion Capture(运动捕捉)领域里也在跃跃欲试。
要用电脑图形非常自然地表现人体不可能表现出来的形态，靠Key-Frame Animation（关键帧动画）是不容易得到自然移动的效果的。
结果就要靠机器人演员来做需要的动作，然后在电脑里利用机器人演员的数据制作出很自然的动作。
如果想想Stan Winston制作的Mouse Hunte r就容易理解了。
3 计算机图形（Computer Graphics）从1977年制作的电影“星球大战”开始，Computer Graphics在电影中占的比例越来越大。
如今电脑特技技术有了相当的发展。
卢卡斯原以为因电脑特技技术的落后，他所策划的9部“星球大战”系列电影不可能在有生之年完成了。
但是如今电脑和CG技术取得了飞跃性的发展，电脑特技能表现的领域也越来越广阔，“星球大战”系列电影也可以全部完成了。
