CrisisCrisis is to our life what illness is to our body. Just as fatal disease can destroy our body and sometimes even put an end to our lives, so does smashing crisis knock us down so hopelessly that we might never have chance of standing up again. However, most crises that frequent us in life are not such category. They, like occasional ailments which sometimes can bolster our body's immune system, are mostly minor and surmountable and therefore making us hardy enough to survive whatever adversities in our later life. Even those serious crises, if handled properly, can be turned to a blessing to us, too.As far as a nation is concerned, crisis can be rendered beneficial. Take Wenchuan earthquake which shook most of Sichuan recently for example. The crisis has cost us Chinese a lot. Houses collapsed, bridges broke down and many affected areas were cut off from the outside world. Nearly a million people lost their homes, ten thousands of people were injured and another ten thousands of people were killed. But our sufferings won't go in vain. Scientists are more determined to improve the means by which we forecast earthquakes with more accuracy. We should build houses which can survive the destructive earthquakes. And we also should better the mechanism to face the emergencies and crisis. As for economic life, crises are not always rendered bad. During these times, we can stop the race of fast economy to speculate about some fundamental issues of humanity such as how much high-speed development in this way can contribute to the well-being of human life. Just take my own country for instance. Of course, in the past two decades or so, our economy has gained the highest speed man has experienced. But haven't we paid too much? Our rivers are polluted. Our natural resources are shrinking. Our national power of creation is drained. Is it worthy of it? Isn't it high time we gave it a serious thought? Shouldn't we stop making ourselves long in quantity and short in quality? And chance of deep thought has come with this crisis, which is now deepening in most parts of the world.Crisis sometimes contributes to our life treasure in a way that few can imagine. It can weather us and make us strong enough to face ourselves when we feel weak. Eric, my uncle is a case in point. He had hard time in his childhood going through such a fatal disease that he had never thought he could survive. He was in due course saved by doctors. Ever since then he regarded his life as a second given by God and has been so grateful to the world that he has been doing whatever he can to give back in the same measure to other fellows. And now he is living a happy and successful life.As a well-known ancient Chinese notion goes, the past lessons if not forgotten can be good teachers for us all. If we can bear in mind the various sufferings and ordeals we have experienced, then our sufferings will not go unrewarded and those of our compatriots who was killed in the earthquake did not die in vain. We should take the lessons from crisis and regard them as a chance for new growth.Buying or Borrowing Books?Books are close friends of humanity. They can arm us with knowledge and information we need to make success of life. Through books we can obtain skills and techniques for survival and development. Through books we can enlighten our spirits and live a fuller life. There are generally two ways in which we can have access to books: borrowing or buying. While millions are borrowing books, I still think buying them best suits me and gives me the greatest enjoyment.Admittedly, there are a few merits for borrowing books. For one thing, borrowing books can save us huge amounts of money. And of course, with the money saved we can do other more worthy things .And also, as we borrow books from the library and friends, we normally have deadline to finish them, and consequently we can read more books in a limited time. And we can, above all, better our efficiency of our reading, just as a famous Chinese saying goes, “books can not be read unless borrowed.”However, some advantages for buying books are more obvious and compelling. One of them, definitely not shared by the choice of borrowing books, is the abundance of freedom that buying books can offer us. Since we can keep the books as long as we wish, we can read as much as we want. Another strength of owing books is that we can take whatever notes on the margin of the pages of the books. And finally, the process of selecting and keeping books can be a great fun that borrowing books can by no means offer. While borrowing books can, to some extent, quench our thirst for knowledge, buying books gives us greater pleasure of selecting and keeping the best of the world treasure. Can we think of any thing else more delightful and rewarding?2010年英语专业四级作文范文(三)TV—Blessing or Curse?Few things in the modern world have so much influence on people as the television does. Being besieged with TV news, absorbing teleplays, well-masterminded programmes, one can easily conclude that TV is a real blessing to the human society, offering affluent entertainment and information. Yet, convenient and helpful as it is, the television also brings negative effects. To begin with, TV makes people more passive than before: since everything on TV is ready-made, ther e is no space for audience‟s initiatives. The news has been carefully edited, teleplays well shot, programmes rehearsed, so all you need to do—and all you can do is to sit on a comfortable sofa and look at the screen. Though a lot of people enjoy doing this, the undoubted truth is that people are becoming more passive simply because there is no interaction and no efforts on them.Television also contributes to the fact that people nowadays are more distant to each other. Since most of our free time is taken away by the act of watching TV, we can no longer find enough time to visit friends, call on relatives or go to interesting places. This is also true within a family, parents and children and other members are less close to each other, because family get-togethers and conversations are disturbed by TV—when one member is watching TV, he would like others to keep quiet.Of course I am not denying the great conveniences and huge benefits the TV brings us, but to make it a really blessing to us, we should try to avoid its negative effects.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(四)Living in university dormitories or apartments in the community?I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and then move into an apartment for off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence of off-campus life.student‟s needs change over four years, so their housing should too.Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get the whole university experience. Plus, you interact more with other students. This includes not only your roommates, but everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can be a big help for the new students. Keeping up with studies in your first year is hard enough. You should not have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the university bureaucracy.Living in the dormitory also make a student feel more a part of the uniersity community. There are more opportunities for becoimg involved in university activities and networking with students and university administraction.Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Fingding an apartment, dealing with leases and the landlord‟s regulations, cooking meals, and figuring out budgets are all good practice for life after graducation. This kind of independence helps older students grow in adulthood.Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what is going on around them. Campus can be like little worlds of their own. There are few children or older people and everyone is focused on education. Getting to know neighbors who are not students is good for students coming from difference places. It is a chance to find out what other people think and feel.I think a combination of two years on-campus and two years off-campus is a winning combination for most students2010年英语专业四级作文范文(五)How to Achieve Team Work"Experience is the best teacher," people say. Indeed, the most important, and sometimes the hardest, lessons we learn in life come from our participation in situations. For my part, you can't learn everything from a book. And only practice makes you a successful person. To begin with, first-hand experience is important for a child. When we were children, we learned the fundamental lessons of life solely from experience. That is to say, parents teach us by experience such as how to walk steadily, how to cope with the adults, and so on and so forth. Secondly, first-hand experience is also important for an adolescent. At school, we do not learn everything from books, in that few books can teach us successfully how to meet new people and make more friends. Finally, as we leave adolescence behind and enter adult life, no book can teach us how to fall in love and get married. But experiencing our own triumphs and disasters is really the only way to learn how to live a successful life.To conclude, knowledge gained both from experience and from books have their respective roles to play in our life. However, in my view, I think the former one is more important than the latter one. The most important lessons can't be taught; they have to be experienced.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(六)Should college students do part-time jobs?In many countries it is common for teenagers to take part-time jobs while they are still in high school, while in other societies this is virtually unheard of. In the latter situation, students are expected to spend all of their time on their studies and consider schoolwork their "job". In my opinion, students benefit more from a more balanced lifestyle, which may include working at a part-time job. Therefore, I believe that it is a good idea for students to work while studying. While it is true that a student's most important goal must be to learn and to do well at his studies, it does not need to be the only goal. In fact, a life which consists of only study is not balanced and may cause the student to miss out on other valuable learning experiences. In addition to bringing more balance to a student's life, part-time work can broaden his range of experience. He will have the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and will be faced with a wider variety of problems to solve. Furthermore, work helps a student to develop greater independence, and earning his own pocket money can teach him how to handle his finances. Finally, a part-time job can help a student to develop a greater sense of responsibility, both for his own work and for that of the team he works with. For all of these reasons, I firmly believe that most students would benefit from taking a part-time job while they are in high school. Of course, they must be careful not to let it take up too much of their time because study is still their primary responsibility. In sum, living a balanced life is the best way to be successful.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(七)Should college students be allowed to get married? There is no denying the fact that it is a hotly debated topic today whether college students should be allowed to get married. Some time ago, the ban was lifted by some universities on students getting married. To this people‟s attitudes differ sharply. Some hold the positive view. They say that most college students are adults and that it is a basic right for those who have reached theappropriate ages to get married. Besides, they argue that with their biological and emotional needs met, these students will study better. The ban on this means a severe violation of human rights. Many others, however, hold the negative opposite view. They claim that the university or college is a place to study instead of a community to lead family life. Allowing college students to get married would adversely affect their study. For instance, they would spend too much time attending their family and love, unable to concentrate on their school work.As far as I am concerned, Weighing the arguments of both sides, I believe that college students should not be allowed to get married. Though mostly adults, they are actually immature psychologically. Their wishes to get married are, more often than not, impulses. Besides, as students, they are not ready to support a family financially.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(八)当今女性减肥已成为一种时尚。

专四作文(精选20篇)专四作文(一):The Importance of Adult EducationMany people in the workforce are unhappy with their current salaries or career and consider a change or a betterment of their lives through discovering new avenues of industry。

Adult education is on the rise。

I personally hold that adult education is highly advisable and pletely achievable3 and therefore is highly important。

Firstly, adults starting a new or returning to school most often have found within themselves a strengthened desire to succeed。

Studies have shown that 80% of adult students graduate as pared to a 50% average graduation rate among traditional students。

Furthermore, adults have a bank of knowledge from life or work experience that can contribute to what they will learn in school。

This is a fantastic advantage over their younger peers。

Adults also view their professors as peers and are less intimidated by them,Last but not least, higher education for the adult is a life-changing experience。

I was so nervous when I took the 2010 CET-4. The reading comprehension part was the most challenging for me.I had to read and understand the passages quickly, and sometimes I felt like I was running out of time. But I managed to finish all the questions, and I hope I did well. The listening part was not as difficult as I expected.I could understand most of the conversations and lectures, although there were a few questions that I wasn't sure about. I just made my best guess and moved on to the next question. I hope I got enough right answers to pass this part. The writing part was a bit tricky for me. I had towrite an essay on a given topic, and I wasn't sure if my ideas were good enough. I tried to organize my thoughts and express them clearly, but I was worried that I might have made some grammar mistakes. I hope the examiners will be lenient with me.The vocabulary and grammar part was okay. I had been practicing a lot before the exam, so I felt quite confident about this part. I could choose the right words to fill in the blanks, and I could also spot the errors in the sentences. I hope I didn't make too many mistakes.Overall, I think I did my best in the 2010 CET-4. I prepared for it as much as I could, and I tried to stay calm during the exam. Now all I can do is wait for the results and hope for the best.。

As college students juggle classes, assignments, and extracurricular activities, maintaining a clean living space can be a challenging task. While some may argue that students should clean their own rooms to foster responsibility and independence, there are several compelling reasons to consider hiring cleaners.Firstly, hiring a cleaner can save valuable time. College life can be hectic, and students often find themselves overwhelmed with their academic workload. By outsourcing cleaning tasks, students can dedicate more time to studying, participating in clubs, or even relaxing, which is essential for their mentalwell-being.Secondly, professional cleaners are trained and equipped to handle cleaning jobs efficiently. They can ensure that the living space is not only clean but also hygienic, reducing the risk of illness. This is particularly important during cold and flu season when a clean environment can contribute to better health.Lastly, hiring a cleaner can be a wise financial decision in the long run. A tidy living space can lead to improved focus and productivity, ultimately enhancing academic performance. In conclusion, while cleaning is a valuable skill, hiring cleaners can provide college students with more time, a healthier environment, and potentially better grades. It is an investment that can significantly improve their college experience.

This cartoon is silly, and yet compelling: a large customer holds a hopelessly small piece of cloth as the tailor carefully measures. Such an image suggests that one needs to consider practical realityin the pursuance of goals. Merely acting on ones desires, while ignoring the facts at hand, cannot lead to success. The fact that currently there are more graduates than jobs reminds us of the importance of rational thinking. Every year approximately 3 million students graduate from universities and begin looking for work. Many of them fail to find suitable employmentbecause there are simply not enough opportunities to accommodate such great numbers of graduates. In addition, however, one might also cite flawed individual assessment as a reason. In order to create a realistic target for ones future, one must make rational decisions and prepare accordingly. A student who aims to be a surgeon, for example, must take care to acquire opportunities to do clinical practice and gain sufficient knowledge. In other words, customers would do well to take accurate measurements before purchasing their fabric. A small piece of cloth cannot adequately clothe a large person.

1 ) You should stop smoking now.

You should give up smoking now, for the sake of your own health, for the sake of the health of others, for the sake of your family, and for the sake of the entire world.

2) Doctors think that an active person should have a restful hobby, while a person who sits ata desk should have a lively hobby.

Is A Test of Spoken English Necessary?A test of spoken English will be included as an optional (ponent of the College English Test (CET). Some people contend that it is absolutely necessary to hold a test of spoken English in China because we have been told many times that a Chinese student who has been learning English for years cannot municate with a native English speaker. Sometimes even those top students who excel at grammar and writing skills find their English inadequate to express their thoughts freely when speaking. A test of spoken English will bring the importance of speaking English to the awareness of the college students, and thus help them with their municating skills. On the other hand, there are also people who maintain that good reading and writing skills would be enough for the average English learners. College students are already under considerable pressure from their coursework. Another required test will only add to their burden. Also, some students may take the shortcut and only practice the questions according to the fixed format of the test, which will not actually improve their spoken English. I believe that a test of spoken English will do more good than harm. Since China will continue its policy of opening and reform, the ability to speak fluent English is a must for anyone who wants to surpass others in a highly petitive society. Whether I take the test or not, I shall make all efforts to practice my spoken English in the rest years in college.2001年1月大学英语四级考试How to Succeed in a Job Interview?Nowadays, in an ever tighter job market, great importance has been attached to an interview by both the employer and the applicant. Should College Students Hire Cleaners(1)Should college students hire cleaners? (2)Students' views on this issue vary from one to another. (3)Some students think that it is reasonable to hire cleaners for laundry and dorm cleaning while others hold that hiring cleaners does harm to the college students. (4)In my point of view, although there are some conveniences of hiring cleaners, the losses far outweigh the benefits. (5)The reasons are mainly as follows:(6)First of all, students lose the opportunities to enhance their unity and friendship. (7)Friends are indispensable in college life, especially for freshmen. (8)It is a chance for them to develop friendship and teamwork when they clean dorms together and do laundry together.(9)With the joy of working for their own surroundings, they can appreciate college life better. (10) In addition, students become more independent by taking care of their own lives. (11)Doing laundry or cleaning dorms is surely an effective way to learn how to keep a balance between study and the rest and how to arrange schedule properly.(12)To sum up, hiring cleaners is unnecessary. On campus, students can enjoy a colorful and independent life by doing their own chores, so it is wise not to hire cleaners.2009年专四真题作文Will Tourism Bring Harm to the Environment? In recent years, tourism has developed rapidly in China. Many people believe that tourism produce positive effects on economic growth and we should try our best to promote tourism. But what these people fail to see is that tourism may bring about a disastrous impact on our environment. As for me, I’m firmly convinced that too much tourists bring harm to the environment. The bad impact of tourism on the environment has mainly expressed itself in various ways. One way is the process of exploiting a new scenic spot.In order to attract tourists, a lot of artificial facilities have been built, which have certain unfavorable effects on the environment. This process usually breaks the ecological balance of the area. In some mountainous places, trees are being cut down to build hotels for others to see and explore the beauty of the mountains. Then land slides and mud-rock flows come up. Another way the development of tourism has damaged the environment occurs when tourists go to scenic spots. Some tourists don’t have the awareness to protect the environment, and ignorantly throw their garbage here and there. Some people even kill the local wildlife to eat, which badly damages the balance of the natural environment. It is wrong to sacrifice the environment for the growth of tourism. We must keep in mind that too much tourists bring harm to the environment. We need to find a balance between satisfying the needs of tourists and reducing to a minimum the pollution they cause.2008年专四作文真题The Benefits of VolunteeringVolunteering has grown into a fashion these years, with volunteers ranging from college students to white collar workers. It is reported now China has 4.5 million registered volunteers having provided more than 4.5 billion hours of volunteer work. Why would so many people like to do volunteer work? Are there any benefits of volunteering? The answer is absolutely yes. First of all, through volunteering we can gain more experiences. Whatever volunteering work we do, either being a volunteer teacher for a village school or a volunteer worker in a retired house, we can taste different lifestyles and broaden our horizon.Secondly, through volunteering we can acquire the sense of being needed. Many people feel frustrated with travails in life and empty with the cycling of working and resting. They gradually become numb, losing the sense of being needed. By joining the volunteer group and offering help voluntarily to people who need it, we may feel happy and fulfilled again.Thirdly, through volunteering we can learn more good qualities. Volunteer work is team work, which needs good cooperation. We can knowpeople with different personalities and different background joining in the volunteer group and devoting to the volunteer work together. From our co - volunteers we can absorb many good qualities that could help us be better persons. In conclusion, volunteering is of great benefit in that we can gain more experiences, acquire the sense of being needed and learn more good qualities.2007年专四作文真题范文1 Is It Wise to Make Friends Online?Currently the public has paid great attention to the debate concerning whether it is wise or not to make friends online. Taking all the favorable and unfavorable aspects into account, I stand firmly on the side that we can benefit from making friends online. This point of perspective, I believe, shared by the largest proportion of the public, can be explained in the following tangible reasons.Firstly, communication is unquestionably regarded as an extremely important element in our society. Unfortunately, there are people around us appear to be apathetic and have got no idea about how to make an acquaintance with a stranger. They may be too shy or nervous or they are afraid of being refused by others. But remember no man is an island entire of itself, every man is a part of the continent, a part of the main. As a consequence, regardless of the fact that whether you like it or not, as individuals, we have to be part of the main. And, internet, as a mass medium, provides us with a chance. Things turn to be quite different because sitting in front of the computer screen, people who are scared to make friends online can talk with others more naturally and confidently.Secondly, it is well acknowledged that we can learn a lot from our e-pals. If our friend online were a foreigner, we can practice English with him or her. What’s more, we can have a glimpse of general information of another country, such as the culture, the tradition, the custom or thegeography. From what have mentioned above, we can come to the conclusion that making friends online can do us some good. And communication online is having a greater impact on our daily life.范文2 Is it wise to make friends on the Internet? With the overwhelming development of Internet, never has been a communication tool, like MSN or QQ, that makes people contact with each other using such a convenient and extensive method. However, is it wise to make acquaintance with cyber friends throughout the globe even when each other’s identity is secretly classified? My answer is no.Admittedly, making friends online bring us a great amount of joy and unimagined stimulating experience. Nevertheless, as we can only communicate people though words or images, someone with ulterior motives may hide behind the screen waiting for a moment to conspire his illegal actions. Just as the joke tells, a 21 years old pretty girl may turn out to be an 80 years old ugly drunker. In addition, people are easily getting addicted to this fictitious relationship and losing the ability of surviving in their real living environment. Net communication can never take the place of a face to face taking or a familiar attracting expression. What is more, who are you turning into when emergency happens, someone thousands miles far away that you even don’t know about his name, or the next door neighbor s who smile at you every morning? In conclusion, when we try to make friends online, it is necessary to be sensible and take precautions to ensure our safety especially meeting net friends outside. Only in this way, can we enjoy the exciting experience and extremely convenient the net bring s to us.2006年专四真题作文范文1 My Idea of Saving MoneyA recent survey, carried out by a Beijing-based information company, has shown that two thirds of the Chinese college students today favor theidea of saving money for later use, whereas quite many others deem it much better to use tomor row’s money today. Personally, I side with the former.Firstly, saving money can relieve one’s anxiety in case of accidents, disease or other mishaps. As we all know, when one faces such tragedies as fir damage or fatal disease, one would need a large amount of money to survive such difficulties. Secondly, saving money can give one a sense of fulfillment.Since most people work hard every day, they will be quiet happy and satisfied with his “achievement” when they find they have accumulated a large deposit in the bank. Thirdly, saving money allows one to give a helping hand to others. With money available at the moment, one can offer badly needed help to those in temporary difficulty, say, those who are suffering from flood, famine, a car accident, or things like that. Yet taking a loan from a bank is often too costly. Thus, the timely help will be rewarded with gratitude. A dependable friendship will eventually be fostered. To sum up, saving money does have many advantages. Indeed, it is an important aspect of the Chinese conception of virtue. Therefore, let’s start saving money from today on.范文2 Using Tomorrow’s Money for Today’s ComfortRecently a Beijing information company did a survey of student life among more than 700 students, and the results have shown that 67 percent students think that saving money is a good habit, while the rest believe using tomorrow’s money today is better. For me, I agree with the latter point of view. Most people may have heard of the story about a Chinese old lady and an American old lady. The former spent all her life painstakingly saving enough money to buy a new apartment, without living in it for a long timebefore her death, while the latter first borrowed money form the bank to buy a new apartment in her youth and lived in it comfortably, then spent the rest of her life paying the loan. In the story, the results are the same---they both bought an apartment, but their life experiences are radically different; the former hardly lived in the house for she had spent all her life saving money for it, while the latter enjoyed living there for quite a long time because she “ used tomorrow’s money today”. By comparison, we can clearly see that the latter’s choices of lifestyle is much better than the former’s Then, why don’t we use tomorrow’s money for today’s comfort? To conclude, I think using tomorrow’s money today is much better than saving money all day.2005年专四真题作文MY IDEA OF A UNIVERSITY ARTS FESTIVALWith merely four months to go before the arts festival starts, my fellow students are getting increasingly enthusiastic in brainstorming for the significant event. While in my opinion typical activities such as performances, forums and lectures on art should be taken into consideration. The festival itself is an image-creating undertaking. Students should be attracted to the festival at the first glimpse, so the opening ceremony must be of vital importance. Fascinating performances, for instance, pop music, ballet dancing and instrument playing ought to be put on in this section and if possible an orchestra can be invited to add spice to the ceremony. Certainly only performances are too superficial. To help students take a deeper insight of arts, forums and lectures must be held. Forums can be held through BBS owning to the wide accessibility to Internet, whereas professors and experts can be invited to give lectures concerning basic knowledge of art and the role that art plays in daily life. However, prior to all the above, professional organization, detailed plans and effective promulgation are needed to promise a success.A university arts festival, in brief, must embrace rich content and careful preparation. But even if so, I still maintain that letter writing will never be killed by phones, though we have stepped into the Information Age.Firstly, letters can express your subtle feelings. With the increase of the living pace of modern society, we find that there is a lack of communication now. Sometimes when you are speaking to someone that you care and love on the phone, you are so shy that it’s too hard to express any of your feelings towards him/her. Your throat seems to be blocked! At this time, letters will help. Without any embarrassment, you can just write down your deep concern and love on a piece of paper. When you drop the letter into the pillar-box, you will feel what he/she will receive is not only a letter, but also your deepest love.Secondly, letters can be kept as a record of memory, while phones cannot. Just imagine when you open an old box of letters and read them years later, a lot of beautiful and indelible memories will be brought back to you. What an irreplaceable feeling it is! And I believe, this feeling is something that you can definitely never experience through several phone calls. All in all, letter writing will absolutely survive and even thrive in the Information Age. Phones can never kill it, neither will anything.2003年作文真题范文THE IMPORTANCE OF KEEPING A GOOD MOODPeople in modern society live under a lot of pressure. With the improvement of our living standards, people are attaching more and more importance to their health. However, which do you think is the best way to keep healthy? Different people come up with different views: eating green food, doing outdoor exercises or going to hospital for medical treatment frequently. As far as I am concerned, the best way to keep healthy is to develop a good quality of psychology.According to some surveys, nowadays, most patients are not physically sick but mentally ill. The burden on their shoulders is much heavier than others, so they can’ t step out of the shadow of depression and sadness.
