【篇一】Application Letter for StudyDear Sir:I am writing to you because I wish to have information about admission to your university, the courses you offer and details of any scholarship for foreign students. I would also like to receive information on tuition and housing.I studied at Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade for four years from 1989 to 1993. There I obtained a B.A. degree in Economics and got A’s in all my subjects. After graduation I became a teacher of Economics of Shanghai university. Now I have had five papers published. In addition, my knowledge and practical command of English is adequate. My immediate degree objective at Columbia University is Master Degree of Science.I am looking forward to an early reply.Yours sincerelyLin nan【篇二】Applying for the JobDear Sir,As I am going to graduate from the university, I would like to apply for a position with your company. My training at Beijing University helped me develop such skills as a secretary with excellent shorthand and word processing: I would like to demonstrate how I can put them to work for your company. Here I enclose a resume which describes my education and work experience. You will note that I got good grades, and I placed second in our city in the Secretarial Shorthand Competition last November. If you think I can meet the requirement for work in your company, I would like to interview with you soon., May I call you on Next Monday to make an appointment.Yours sincerelyLiYing【篇三】为什么我喜欢读报纸Why I like to Read NewspaperThe newspaper is one of the many mediums of carrying information to us. No wonder people often say: “ Even without stepping out of my house, I am well-informed of al that has been happening in the world.”We get all kinds of news from newspapers. Newspapers can tell us about various events, past and future, domestic and foreign. Besides, they can teach us a lot of useful things. In fact, everyone can find something he wants from newspapers, and everyone enjoys reading them everyday.Reading newspapers can widen our scope of knowledge. Not only they help us improve our reading ability but they can help us enhance our ideology. Because of all these benefits, I like reading newspapers. My Opinion of Today’s EducationI think one of the main problems with today’s education is that too much emphasis is placed on test scores. It has become the most important criterion for college enrollment. A student, however creative and intelligent, will not be admitted into a college if his total scores are just one point less than required. It is also one of the crucial factors either in job assignment or in employment competitions. The competition for high scores among students becomes intense. Students find themselves concentrating more on strategies to achieve high scores than on acquiring knowledge. They will play truant of some subsidiary course, skip over the substance which will not be tested on, even pump teachers for hints on upcoming exams. Teachers are apt to give their students high scores. As their job is judged mainly by the students’performance in terms of scores, some teachers tend to set easy papers to test their students on or narrow down the scope of the exam. Some teachers even leak “accidentally” the exam questions or lower their criterion of scoring. As a result, the competition for high scores becomes so intense that it actually defeats academic goals of education.【篇四】科学的作用和教学在现代生活The Role of Science and Teaching in Modern LifeHuman life can not continue without science and technology. In fact, the advancement of human society has always been depended upon the development of science and technology. As a result, the life we are living now is more civilized than that of our forefathers’.The development of science and technology has brought about many changes in people’s life. For example, the invention of television has opened a new era for mankind. We can now view events which are happening thousands of miles away.Science and technology also play and important role in our socialist construction. Our socialist construction is just like a sky scraper, while science and technology are its base. Without the base, the skyscraper cannot be built. Therefore, we should try our best to further develop science and technology so as to lay a more solid base for our socialist construction.Relationship between Customer and SellerThe relationship between customer and seller is now becoming more and more important in people’s life, with the rapid development of market economy. A good relationship between customer and seller can make buying and selling a happy experience and benefit both buyer and customer.A good relationship between customer and seller can only exist on the basis of honesty and respect. The seller should be honest to customers introducing the actual advantages and disadvantages of his goods. He mustn’t deceive customers, charge too high a price or serve them indifferently. On the part of the customer, he should also respect the seller and be reasonable. Some customers think they are “God” of the sellers, so they often behave coldly or even rudely to them. That’s not good manners. As long as one busy of his own will, both sides are equal.Sometimes problems and mistakes are inevitable. For example, the seller may forget to give his customer the change. If he doesn’t do it on purpose, the customer should be considerate and excuse him. On the basis of honesty and kindness, problems can easily be solved.,【篇五】Education and the MarketAs the socialist market economy in China is expanding, education is becoming more closely related to the market. In a broad sense, all the modern society is based on the market economy. As part of the society, education cannot be separated from the market. On the contrary, the former has much to do with the latter. Therefore, it is general believed that educaiton serves the market and the latter, in turn, supports the former. The reason for education to enter the market is obvious. As a developing country, China is not likely to invest a huge amount of money in education in the near future. Education has to turn to the market to find its own way. It is important to note that teacher’s way of production is to teach and train students. The students’ knowledge is an invisible product. In addition, their services to students and society are valuable. So education has to be run in accordance with the law value to realize the aim that students pay for their education and find jobs for themselves rather than being assigned jobs by the states.Personally, I think education is an independent industry between students and the talent market. It is the indispensable link between the two. So I can conclude that since science and technology and talented people can enter the market, it is a matter of course for education to enter the market.。

How can you have a wide vision and a broad horizon if you receive your education at a small college?Frankly, the best choice is a good major at a good university. My parents always remind me to pay attention in class, do all myhomework, and study hard for tests. They don't let me watch too much TV or play video games because they want me to focus on my schoolwork. Sometimes it's tough, but I know it's important if I want to get into an amazing university one day.I also need to score really well on the big test at the end of high school called the Gaokao. The Gaokao is seriously difficult - it covers absolutely everything you learned in middle school and high school. My older cousin took it last year and she said it was incredibly hard and stressful. But you have to ace the Gaokao to get into one of the top universities.Another thing that will help me get into a great university is doing well in English. China has over 1 billion people, so speaking and writing excellent English will allow me to work anywhere in the world someday. It will also help me read books and research from other countries. My English teacher says I'm a fast learner and she thinks I can become fluent if I keep practicing. That's why I'm already starting to prepare for the big national English exam that adults take to upgrade from a junior college degree to a 4-year university degree. The exam tests every part of English - reading, writing, speaking, and listening. It's supposed to be super difficult, kind of like the Gaokao but just for English.I'll have to write a long essay in English as part of the exam. My mom showed me some sample essay questions and they were pretty hard! Things like "What leadership qualities are most important in today's global business environment?" and "How can nations reduce pollution while continuing to grow economically?" Those are some really complex topics, especially for a kid like me.But my parents told me I need to start getting ready for that English exam now if I want to pass it easily later on. So a few times per week, I have to practice writing essays on different topics in English. Sometimes my mom or dad gives me a sample question and I have to write a full essay responding to it. Other times they just give me a general topic like "environmental protection" and I have to come up with my own thesis statement and supporting points. It's honestly pretty tough for me so far. It's hard to develop a clear thesis, organize all my points logically, and explain my ideas in detail...all in English! My English writing skills aren't perfect yet. But my parents say that's exactly why I need to practice now while I'm young. The more I practice, the better I'll get over time.I've also started reading more books, articles, and websites in English to build up my vocabulary and learn about different writing styles. My favorite English books are the Harry Potter series - I've read them all! From those books, I've learned lots of new English vocabulary words like "invisibility cloak", "broomstick", and "Quidditch". I still need to look up words in the dictionary sometimes, but I'm getting better at understanding longer texts in English. In addition to writing and reading practice, my parents also make me do lots of other English exercises. We listen to English podcasts in the car and I have to summarize what they were about. We watch movies and TV shows in English and then I have to describe the main plot and characters. Sometimes they just fire random English questions at me out of nowhere to see if I can respond quickly and smoothly. At first, all this extra English practice felt like a chore on top of my regular schoolwork. To be honest, I used to complain about it a lot. Writing long essays in English is hard and sometimes I just want to relax after school instead of doing more work! But now I've realized how important it is for achieving my dream of getting into a top university. My parents always tell me "Xinxin, we didn't have the chance to get a university degree. But we want you to have that opportunity so you can create an amazing future for yourself. If you work hard now, universities will be impressed by your English skills and you'll get to choose where you want to go." Hearing that motivation from them helps me keep practicing and improving bit by bit each day.I know I'm just a little kid and university is a long way off. I still have to work super hard in primary school, middle school, high school, and get a killer score on the Gaokao test. But my dream is to go to one of the most prestigious universities in China, like Tsinghua or Peking University. Getting prepared for that national English exam now is just my first step towards that big dream! In 10 or 15 years, I hope to be writing my university admission essay in perfect English. I'll talk about all the English practice I've done since elementary school - reading challenging books, writing essays every week, watching movies and shows, listening to podcasts, taking English classes, and maybe even living abroad for a while. I'll show them how passionate I am about English and learning. That's what will make me stand out from all the other applicants. Then after getting into an amazing university for my undergraduate degree, who knows what I'll do next? Maybe I'll go to graduate school or start my own company. Maybe I'll become a journalist, travelling the world and writing articles in English. Or perhaps I'll go into international business and work for a huge corporation that lets me use my English skills every single day. The possibilities will be endless! No matter what path I choose, a great university education will open so many doors for me. That's why I'm already working hard now to make sure my English is as strong as possible. University is my big dream, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to achieve it. Just you wait and see! Thanks for listening to my story. Study time calls, so I'd better get back to practicing my English writing now. Talk to you later!篇4My Big Dream of Going to UniversityHi there! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. I'm in the 5th grade at Sunny Hill Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about my huge dream of going to university when I grow up!Ever since I was a tiny kid, I've loved learning new things. My parents always read me lots of books and we'd talk about what Ilearned. Some of my favorites were picture books about animals, outer space, and far away countries. I was such a curious little girl, always asking "Why?" about everything! In kindergarten, I really looked up to my teacher Mrs. Roberts. She was so smart and could explain things in a way that made sense to me. I decided then that I wanted to be just like her someday - a person who knew absolutely everything and could teach others. Of course, now I know that nobody can literallyknowall things. But I still really admire teachers and professors who spend their lives learning and sharing knowledge. My oldest brother James is now a sophomore at the local university studying engineering. I went with my parents to move him into the dorms and got to see the whole campus. It was so cool! There were modern buildings with huge libraries and computer labs, grassy quads where students relaxed between classes, and even a Olympic-sized swimming pool. I loved the energy of all the young people going about their scholarly businesses. I could really picture myself there one day too.In elementary school, my favorite subjects are math, science, and English. I'm a total bookworm and my friends joke that you can always find me with my nose buried in a book. For my 10thbirthday, my parents gave me my very own electronic tablet so I can read ebooks anywhere I go now too. How awesome is that?I especially love learning about animals and nature. My dream is to become a marine biologist and study all the amazing creatures in the ocean. Can you imagine getting to scuba dive and observe whales, sharks, and colorful fish up close? How incredible! I'd travel the world's oceans doing research and working to protect the environment.Or maybe I'll become an astronomer and make new discoveries about distant galaxies, black holes, and the mysteries of the cosmos. The universe is so vast and there's still so much we have yet to understand about it. I find the night sky completely mesmerizing. I'll never get tired of gazing up at those twinkling stars through my telescope lens.Whatever field I go into, I know for sure that I want to get a university education. Attending lectures, doing research in lab, writing papers, belonging to academic clubs, making lifelong friends - that's my idea of the perfect life! The thought of being a college student just gives me butterflies. I can't wait for that challenge and the opportunity to learn at the highest level.Of course, getting into a good university won't be easy. I'll need to study really hard, get excellent grades, do well onentrance exams, participate in lots of extracurricular activities, and write a stellar application essay. But I'm aren't scared! With determination and passion for learning, I know I can make my dream come true.My parents always tell me that the most important thing is to never stop pursuing my curiosities and intellectual interests. They raised me to value education above all else. As long as I never lose my love of learning, they say I'll lead a rewarding life doing work I really care about. So that's my big dream - to one day walk across that university stage in a cap and gown, finally holding myhard-earned diploma in my hands. The world of higher education is calling me and I can't wait to answer! Maybe I'll even go on to get a master's degree or PhD someday. A girl can dream, right? For now, I need to focus on being the best student I can be right here at Sunny Hill Elementary. But I'll never lose sight of my ultimate goal to become a university scholar. This is my passion and life's purpose. With perseverance, I have no doubt that dream will become reality. Then watch out world, here comes Lily!篇5My Big English Test AdventureWow, I had the craziest experience last weekend! You see, my mom has been studying really hard to take this huge test called the national adult college entrance exam so she can get her bachelor's degree. She's already finished her associate's degree, but she wants to get an even bigger degree now. Mom says having a bachelor's degree will help her get an even better job.Anyway, Mom had to take this massive English test that was like 3 hours long! She was freaking out about it for weeks. She kept reading these thick textbooks and doing practice tests over and over again. I've never seen her study so hard for anything before. The night before the test, Mom made me promise to be really quiet in the morning so she could concentrate. I agreed, but I was a little nervous too because I knew how important this test was for her. What if I accidentally made noise and messed her up?The next morning, I woke up bright and early and tiptoed out to the kitchen to make myself some cereal, being supercareful not to clank the bowls together or anything. I turned on the cartoons with the volume way down low and just tried to be a perfect little mouse.Mom came out a little while later looking just as nervous as could be. Her hands were shaking as she made herself some coffee. "Morning sweetie," she said with a tight smile. "Thanks for being so quiet. I'm going to need all my brainpower today for this English test.""You're welcome, Mommy. Good luck on your test!" I gave her a big hug before she grabbed her backpack and headed out the door.I spent most of the day kicking around the house, watching TV and playing with my toys, trying not to think about Mom suffering through her mega English test. I couldn't imagine having to sit still for 3 whole hours, reading and writing in a language that's not my first. How could anyone's brain not turn to mush after that? Finally, after what felt like forever, I heard Mom's key turning in the lock. I ran to give her a huge hug as she stumbled inside, looking half-dead. "Mommy! You made it! How was the test? Was it ok? Did your brain survive?"Mom patted my head and gave me a weary smile. "It was...interesting," she said slowly. "The reading comprehension wasn't too bad, but oh boy, that essay section had me sweating. Trying to write a whole paper's worth of thoughts in proper academic English in just an hour? My hand was cramping up so bad by the end!"She flexed her fingers with a wince. "And don't even get me started on having to analyze the arguments in those listening passages. I thought my head was going to explode trying to absorb all those reasons and examples while taking notes."I just shook my head in amazement. "I don't know how you did it, Mom. You're like a superhero or something! I could never take a crazy test like that. Does this mean you'll get your bachelor's degree now?"Mom gave a little shrug. "Well, I sure hope so after all that effort! But we'll have to wait and see what my score is when the results come out in a couple months. For now though, I think I've had about all the English I can handle for a while." She ruffled my hair. "How about you and I go get some nice big ice cream sundaes to celebrate me surviving this ordeal?""Yes please!" I cheered, giving her another squeeze. My mom singlehandedly battled the biggest English test ever and lived to tell the tale. She's my hero!篇6My Big Important English Exam!Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm going to tell you all about my super big important English exam that I took recently. It was the exam for adults who have already finished junior college but want to go on and get a full university degree. Pretty cool, right? You see, when I was younger, I didn't get very good grades in school. I really liked playing outside with my friends more than sitting in a classroom. And English was my worst subject of all! I could never remember how to conjugate verbs properly or use the right articles. My teachers would get so frustrated with me.But then I grew up and realized how important education is for getting a good job. I decided I wanted to become an accountant and help people with their taxes and finances. To do that though, I needed a university degree. The problem was that my junior college grades weren't high enough to get into a top university program. That's when I learned about the amazing opportunity for adults to take an exam to upgrade directly into university! I was super nervous because English had always been my weakest area. But I studied really really hard, doing practice tests over and over. Finally, the big day arrived for the exam. I double-checked that I had plenty of sharpened pencils and a fresh eraser. I barely slept the night before because I was so anxious! When I got to the test center, my palms were sweating like crazy. The first section was listening comprehension. We had to listen to recordings and answer questions about what we heard. That wasn't too bad since I had practiced those skills. Next up was reading comprehension which involved reading some passages and responding to queries about them. A bit trickier but I managed. Then came the writing section which mad me gulp! We had to write a short essay about an important development in modern society. My mind went blank at first, but eventually I settled on discussing the impact of the internet and smartphones. I tried my best to use proper grammar, vary my sentence structures, and include descriptive vocabulary. Whew! The final section was speaking, where we had to answer questions from a real person about different topics. I broke out in a sweat again, but reminded myself to stay calm and not freeze up. Somehow I pushed through and gabbed about my hobbies, dream career, and opinions on education reform. At last, the torturous four-hour exam was over! I was so relieved but also proud of myself for persevering through my long-time struggle with English. A few weeks later, the results came in the mail. I tore open the envelope with trembling hands...and I had passed! I actually scored pretty decently too, especially on the writing portion. Tears of joy filled my eyes. Thanks to my hard work and the amazing opportunity to take that big exam, my dream of becoming a university student is now a reality. Starting this fall, I'll be enrolled at a prestigious school studying accounting and business. Goodbye junior college, hello bachelor's degree! So yeah, that's the story of my crazy important English exam adventure. It was hard, like really really hard, but I never gave up. If there's one piece of advice I could give other adults thinking about upgrading, it would be: study persistently, believe in yourself, and never quit on your goals no matter how tough itseems. The overwhelming sense of accomplishment makes all the late nights and practice tests worth it!Okay, that's all from me. Thanks for reading about my inspiring exam experience. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go online and order myself a fresh new notebook for my first university classes!。

Every student will be faced with the same question when he passes the College Entrance Examination: should he choose a good major or a good university? Different people will offer different answers.
Some students give priority to a good major. What they cherish is a specialty they like most. To their mind, whether or not the university is famous doesn’t matter--so long as he works hard, he can learn well in any university, and a bright future is awaiting him.
Other students pay more attention to the fame and quality of the universities. They attach great importance to the university because the environment is vital to the making of an excellent person and is the symbol of good job prospects. How can you have a wide vision and a broad horizon if you receive your education at a small college?
Frankly, the best choice is a good major at a good university. We can only get such a chance after making great efforts. If we cannot obtain both, the first thing to consider is a good major itself.。
