通过多年的英语学习，我可以阅读文章，简单的听力和对话，简单的写作。
但是我觉得这些远远不够，特别是我作为一名博士生，对于英语的要求更加高了。

主要有以下几点。
Among those aspects, English writing can be counted as the biggest headache for me. As scientific papers are mostly written in English nowadays thanks to the industrial revolution, I must be familiar with scientific and technical writing in order to publish papers in SCI. However, every time when I try to write English essays, various difficulties will stop me from completing a passage. They lie in the following aspects:
忽视了英语的表达习惯，总是把常用的搭配和句式用错。
自己想当然的按汉语习惯造句，写成了中式英语。
让别人看了会觉得莫名其妙，不知所云。
Improper syntactical arrangements and un-idiomatic expressions. Affected by my mother tongue, sometimes I tend to organize the sentence with Chinese structure, therefore, turning out passages reading like Chinglish. Other would scratch their head reading my writing.
还有一个困扰我的主要问题是有太多的同义词可以选择，而我不知道该用哪一个单词，来准确的表达我的本意。
写出来的文章，往往词不达意，或者曲解了我的本意。
Another problem is the choice of words. I can not decide which word to use for the precise expression of my meaning. My writings can not fully express my idea and sometimes can be misleading to the readers.
另外，只习惯用最普通的陈述句来写作。
写的文章平铺直叙，一点也不生动，可读性不强。
Moreover, the most common statement sentence pattern does not really add to the vividness or attractiveness of my writings, thus my essay not really appealing to readers.
如何提高自己的英文写作水平呢？首先要了解英文写作上中西方思维和语言表达习惯的差异。
例如，中国人喜欢含蓄，西方人则比较直率，直奔主题。
其次，通过不断练习写作，背诵英语美文，培养自己的语感。

最后，不仅要写出句子通顺，语法正确的文章，还要争取写出自己的表达风格。
The question then comes: How can I improve my English writing ?
I guess the understanding of the different thinking mode and expressions are the basic for a acceptable writing. For example, Chinese are more conservative, while Westerners more direct.
Of course, Practice makes perfect. Only by continuous practicing and refining can one produce a beautiful writing. The language sense can not be built in a day. Writing is more than correct grammar and right structure, it is rather more about the style you have.
