With unilateral force transmission, the grooves can be widened and/or chamfered towards the relieving side. The groove width has no influence on the load bearing capacity of the retaining ring joint. If necessary, pliers equipped with limiting screws (set screw) shall be used. The most reliable protection against overexpansion is assembly using a taper (see Figure 11).
