It’s called “the sea of Laos”
4 What else would you expect Wang Kun and the girl to talk about? Get into pairs and continue the dialogue between them. Use the following expressions to end your conversation.
WK: Really? G: Yes. We use the river for washing,
fishing and transporting things around the country.
We would be lost without it. It’s better than a road. WK: Well, no wonder I’ve seen boats going up and down- they’re transporting goods and people. G: Yes. We call it “the sea of Laos” although we are not near the sea. It is because the water is as useful to us as the see.
WK: How interesting! In Tibet the river’s called “The water of the rocks”. Both names tell us a lot about the river, don’t they?
G: Yes, they do. Watch out for the temples, caves and a waterfall along the river.

Dear Sir,I am writing to share with you my opinions about building the dam. I am against building it. The reasons are as follows:Firstly, many villages will disappear because of the dam. As a result, lots of villagers will become homeless and have to move to the towns.
What's worse, some of them, like me, don't like living in the towns because of the city noise. Last but not least, we used to catch fish to make a living. The building of the dam will lead to the decrease of catch size, making us to earn less money. So, I insist that our government should not build the dam. Best regards, XX
