I'll tell you all about my awesome school.The BuildingOakwood is a big red brick building that looks just like the schools you see on TV shows and in movies. It has a tall flagpole out front where the American flag waves proudly every day. There are lots of big windows that let in plenty of sunlight and big oak trees that provide shade over the playground.The entrance has a set of glass double doors that lead into the main hallway. Just inside the doors is the office where the school secretaries sit behind a tall counter. That's where my mom signs me in if I'm late for school. The principal, Mr. Adams, has his office right next door. He's a nice man with glasses and a bald head who always wears a tie.Down the main hallway are all the classroom doors labeled by grade level and teacher name. My school is called Maple Tree Elementary and it's a pretty big place with lots of classrooms, a huge playground, and even a library full of books.The BuildingMaple Tree Elementary looks kind of like a castle from the outside. It has big brown bricks and lots of windows to let in the sunlight. When you walk through the front doors, you enter this really big hallway with blue lockers lining the walls. Everything always smells like cleaning supplies and old books.At the end of the main hallway, there are two different wings for the younger kids and the older kids. The kindergarten and first grade classrooms are in the left wing and they are so colorful with all the artwork and posters on the walls. The right wing has rooms for second through fifth graders and it feels a bit more grown up, but still pretty bright and cheerful.My ClassroomI'm in third grade, so my classroom is down the right wing in Mrs. Miller's room. It's room 212 and it looks out over the big playground in the back. We have rows of desks and cubbies along the back wall to store our backpacks and supplies. At the front of the room is a huge green chalkboard that Mrs. Miller writes on during lessons.My favorite part of the classroom is the reading nook!
