Heart-warming “Afternoon Tea” activity on Fathers’ D ay in ZhuhaiThe Fathers’ Day in 2017 is on June 18th, Facilitator Zhuhai initiated and organized one touching thematic “Afternoon Tea” activity for the special day. 5 participants had been invited to share moved and sweet experiences to be a father.Through ice-breaking and discussion, these fathers have deepened their own understanding to other family members and their paternal responsibilities. What is more, they have reflected their interacting methods with their children and started to realize what needed to improve and to build and enhance their connection with the children.Deliver essential sex education courses for migrant parent workers in ZhuhaiMany parents have been beset by their children problems during the adolescent period, and they seem helpless in front of these perplexing problems. Facilitator Zhuhai initiated and delivered sex education courses for migrant worker parents, helping to answer their questions about children behaviors during the adolescent sexual development period, and making them better understand children motivation and special thinking ways behind these behaviors. With relevant children sex education materials and information handed out for participating parents, the courses could have them to adopt a proper strategy todeliver sex education for their children.FeedbackMigrant workerWeishan: “I have taken part in many public interest activities, and these experiences are what you cannot perceive if you stay at home. Facilitator Zhuhai has organized and established such a stage for migrant children,their parents and other migrant workers. And through talent show, they have promoted and developed in multiple ways. Children and parent workers have enhanced their public speaking skills and confidence. And their relationship has been strengthened since they had been working and enjoying together in the whole process of talent show.A branch library has been set up in Children center in Zhuhai:A branch of public library has been establish edin children’s center in Zhuhai to tackle migrant children’s inaccessibility to public library service with supports and cooperation with main public library in Doumen District in Zhuhai. Local and migrant children and parents living nearby can ease to enjoythese high-quality books. In addition, the management circulation system in the branch is connected to Zhuhai’s public library management system which made it much easierfor them to access to morelearning resources.Highlight：Community ActivityOne person one story in Nanjing:Everyone has his own story and likes to listen to others’ stories. Facilitator Nanjing expects to establish a platform for everyone in the community to share their own story. Therefore, Facilitator Nanjing has invited "One Person One Story" theatrical troupe to improvisefor the community. At the beginning, one professional actor from this troupe introducedwhat "One person one story" meant and where it came from. And then, some audiences were invited to share their own stories, based on which theatrical actors improvised. Everyone present was truly absorbed into actors’ performance. Such a platform for children, parents, and elderlies in the community to share their life stories enhanced their interactionand interpersonal integration.Exclusive activity for Children 's Day and preparation for children’s semester final test in NanjingEven though Children’s Day community activity has been held at the end of May, Facilitator Nanjing still organized an exclusive activity for the special day. First of all, parents and children enjoyed animation Bears Hunt Treasure to share their aspiration about how bears overcame all the obstacles and perplexities on the hunting treasure journey. And then, children and parents were divided into groups to discuss on the challenges and suggestions for exam review and preparation. At last, participating children and parents shared their expectations forthe coming summer holiday. This exclusive activity allowed children to think dependently and be proactive for their own test, also to release parents and children’s pressure, and lift up children’s s elf-confidence. Ultimately, they could create a relaxing and cheerful environment together for children to review and prepare for the final test.AchievementFeedback:migrant children Xiao Yan’s father: We are rather busy, and could not provide enough attention and accompany for her. College volunteer Wang Hao: My original intention is to enhance my voluntary service ability. However, during the past three months, I have learned more than I expected. I have become more willing to sharemy views with others and I know that we need to establish goals before doing something, and to assess how much we have achieved after implementation.。
