After their high school lives, they were having trouble finding things to do in their free time in the university. When I asked them to talk about their high school lives, many of them told me theygot up at six in the morning and studied until ten at night. Most of this time was spent at school, doing a lot amount of homework to help them prepare for the university entrance exams. Once they entered the university, in my opinion, the students should not spend all their time studying. they should also take part in some after-school activities. So they should learn to make plans for their time outside of the class between sports and clubs. What’s more, they should spend some time watching TV and chatting with their roommates. These activities are useful in helping them prepare for their future. But what made me most surprised was that many of them did not seem particularly happy about their new freedom. As they had so many choices, they felt that no matter what they were doing, they should be doing something else. That’s why they were not happy. To those students, my advice was, get used to it and learn to make decisions for yourselves.训练题(三)1.Which lady is your new English teacher?2. What’s so great about it? I heard it was quite dirty.W: In some parts, maybe. But there’s just so much going on, the theatres, shops and museums. They all make the city full of energy and fashion. Maybe some visitors would be surprised when they first came to India. When they talked to an Indian, he would often shake his head. The visitors might think that the Indian did not like what they said. But, in fact, they would be completely wrong.Indians always shake their heads when they talk to others. It does not have the same meaning as our “No”. If someone wants to visit India, he would say, he should know this, or it will give him some trouble. One day, a foreign officer went to India on business. He hired a car and an Indian to drive it. When he told his driver to send him to his office, the Indian shook his head again. At last, the office got angry.“How dare you refuse my order?” he shouted. “Drive me to my office at once!”The driver answered in quite loud voice, too. “Yes, sir!” But to the officer’s surprise, the driver shook his head at the same time. The car started, and the foreign officer was now too surprised to say a word. He thought about it for a while, and he nodded with a smile, “No mean Yes here!”训练题(四)1.How is your father?2. Where is Mr Smith?3. What is on the desk?4. Which schoolbag is yours?5. Maybe some visitors would be surprised when they first came to India. When they talked to an Indian, he would often shake his head. The visitors might think that the Indian did not like what they said. But in fact, they would be completely wrong.Indians always shake their heads when they talk to others. It does not have the same meaning as our “No”. If someone wants to visit India, he would say he should know this, or it will give him some trouble. One day, a foreign officer went to India on business. He hired a car and an Indian to drive it. When he told his driver to send him to his office, the Indian shook his head at once. The officer said again, and the driver shook his head again. At last the officer got angry.“How dare you refuse my order?” He shouted. “Drive me to my office at once!”The driver answered in quite loud voice, too “Yes, sir!” But to the officer’s surprise, the driver shook his head at the same time. The car started, and the foreign officer was now too surprised to say a word. He thought about it for a while, and he nodded with a smile, “NO means Yes here!”。
