Call for a Healthy World: Celebrate World No Tobacco Day.Every year on May 31st, the world unites to raise awareness about the devastating health effects of tobacco use and promote a smoke-free society. World No Tobacco Day is a global campaign led by the World Health Organization (WHO) that aims to reduce tobacco consumption and protect people from its harmful consequences.Tobacco use is one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide, responsible for more than 8 million deaths annually. It is a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, and respiratory illnesses. Secondhand smoke exposure also poses significant health risks, especially to children and vulnerable populations.World No Tobacco Day provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of tobacco control measures and advocate for policies that protect public health. These measures include smoke-free policies, tobacco taxation, and regulations on tobacco advertising and promotion. By implementing these measures, governments can create smoke-free environments, reduce tobacco use, and save lives. The theme for World No Tobacco Day 2023 is "Tobacco: A Threat to our Planet." This theme emphasizes the environmental impact of tobacco production and waste. Tobacco cultivation requires significant land, water, and fertilizer resources, and tobacco waste generates toxic chemicals that pollute the environment. By reducing tobacco consumption, we can contribute to a cleaner and healthier planet. On World No Tobacco Day, we call upon individuals, communities, and governments to take action against tobacco use. Let us work together to spread awareness, advocate for tobacco control policies, and create a smoke-free futurefor all.

World No Tobacco Day: Kicking the Habit for a Healthier You。
World No Tobacco Day, observed annually on May 31, serves as a timely reminder of the devastating impact tobacco use has on our health and well-being. As we markthis significant day, let us delve into the importance of quitting smoking and embrace a path towards a healthier, tobacco-free future.Tobacco smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals, many of which are known carcinogens. These chemicals damage our DNA, leading to a myriad of health problems, including cancer, heart disease, stroke, and respiratory illness.According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tobacco use is responsible for more than 8 millionpreventable deaths annually. In the United States alone, smoking accounts for an estimated 480,000 deaths each year. These numbers are staggering and underscore the urgent need to address the tobacco epidemic.Quitting smoking can be challenging, but it is one of the most important decisions you can make for your health. The benefits of quitting are numerous and far-reaching. Within days, your blood pressure and heart rate will improve. In the months that follow, your sense of smell and taste will return, and your risk of developing smoking-related diseases will begin to decline. There are many resources available to those who wish to quit smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), including patches, gum, and inhalers, can help manage cravings. Prescription medications, such as bupropion and varenicline, can also increase your chances of success.Counseling and support groups can provide valuable encouragement and guidance throughout the quitting journey. Connecting with others who are also trying to quit can helpyou stay motivated and accountable. On this World No Tobacco Day, let us commit to a future free from the harmful effects of tobacco. By educating ourselves, encouraging others to quit, and supporting those who are trying, we can create a healthier world for ourselves and generations to come.

The smokers protest against that it is a kind of action to deprive of their free right, while the non-smokers are in favor of banning smoking in public places.
In my opinion, I am inclined to support the latter one—smoking should be banned in public places. There are reasons accounting for my point. For one thing, people will be harmed by the second-hand smoking if someone smokes in public places, especially the infants and children. For another, banning smoking in public places is also beneficial to the smokers. If they are banned to smoke in public places, they will restrain themselves from smoking and smoke less. In the meantime, it is a contribution to reduce the air pollution.

This is a good idea though it takes away some of our freedom. As we know, smoking is harmful not only to our health but also to the environment. Smoking can lead to many diseases, such as lung cancer. Smoking affects non smokers more than it does smokers. Ratio of passive smokers getting ill is higher than that of smokers. So, many nonsmokers are against smoking. In public places, the harm of smoking is greater. This is connected with another effect of smoking. That is, smoking pollutes environment by giving much poisonous vapour off into the air. Therefore, that the government ban smoking is very necessary and important to us. [英语作文]世界无烟日的英语作文(4篇)世界无烟日的英语作文(4篇)Smoking cigarettes is very harmful to our health. Studies show thatsmoking can cause cancer and other health problems. Smoker should give up smoking. In addition to health problem, there are other reasons to give up smoking. First, cigarette is very expensive. It is estimated that a smoker will atleast spend more than $400 a year. And ,smoking leaves an offensive odor. Non-smoker don’t like to be a t around the smoker. Further-more ,smoking is a source of pollution. These are all good reasons to give up smoking .Of course ,it is not easy to give up smoking ,but it can be done. First ,a smoker may list the disadvantages of smoking ,which will be very helpful for him to give it up. Then ,the smoker should get support form his relatives or close friends. Last but not least ,the smoker should habit ,such as fishingand reading ,which will take the smoker’s mind off smoking.Great days to be remembered seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.I do not have a Roman holiday, but I have a non smoking day instead.Today a nc-smoking sign easily hooks up my interesting and rewarding experience on the world non smoking day a few yearsAs a high school student, I, together with my friends, volunteered on a campaign to discourage public smoking by persuacling people in public placesto extinguish their cigarettes and put the cigarette ends into our metal boxes. And we would in return give them a memorial sticker bearing patterns and words voicing the theme of the non smoking day.The first step is never a fast step. After hunting for quite a while, weset our target on a young man who was enjoying his cigarette at a bus stop. Embracing the philosophy of "nothing ventured, nothing gained", we summoned up all our courage, walked up and asked, "Sir, would you please not smoke inpublic places?" "It is none of your business! Why are you so busily engaged in such things? Go and mind your own exams!" He was great, I believed, for he was able to drag on his cigarette while at the same time not giving his tongue a break. And I further found out that for this man, such words as "good for yourhealth" or "good for common courtesy" had long lost their appeal. Maybe such kind of situation should call for some other policy. I managed a smile, blended with sweet words and tried to dilute his resistance. And when we put the sticker on his clothes, he was lingering over the joy of having done us "a big favor."Now you see, maybe flattery should be vindicated, for to please is a great step toward persuading and a smile is a curve that sets everything straight. Our work ran smoothly when things began easy to handle in the afternoon. But don't worry. Troubles are just around the corner. The second hard rock we met was a middle aged man who appeared to be more of a smoking addict than a smokingenthusiast. Nothing seemed to be capable of extinguishing that cigarette. Even the wind seemed to be powerless. We showed him the cigarettes filled metal box. We spotlighted the hazards of public smoking. But all was in vain.Mark Twain was right, habit is habit, not to be flung out of window by anyone, but to be coaxed downstairs one step at a time. I then tried to peel the stubborn onion one layer at a time."Ok, I know how you feel. But do you know how other people around you feel?" "You see that child? Actually he smokes more of your cigarette than you do!" "In fact, you are extinguishing one cell of lung cancer when you extinguish your cigarette. You are extinguishing one cell of the disease of selfishness when you extinguish your cigarette." It is that maybe that constant drops do wear the stone. At last he extinguished our words by extinguishing his cigarette. As the sinking sun tinted the horizon, we began to count the cigarette ends, savoring our little victories. That day saw me toiling for 6 hours, inviting loads of troubles, collecting 57 cigarette-ends,savoring hundreds of potential second hand smokers and developing for myself some sense of responsibility toward society.Though it was a little depressing to realize that those people would naturally pick up their "tradition" just where they had temporarily laid it down, yet how far can we estimate our actions would travel! And besides that, I was rewarded in another day. That is, the experience dawned upon me the significance of care and consideration for other people. Since then, I have been as cooperative as possible whenever I am asked to improve my public behavior and I am always ready to get involved in such volunteer work.In a sense, the highest reward for ones toil is not what they get from it but what they become by it.Smoking is harrnful to health. Medical science has now proved that smoking cancause lung cancer and other diseases such as emphysema. Your chances of having a heartattack also increase the more you smoke. Smoking is dafinitely a health hazard.Getting rid of the smoking habit is not easy. Many inveterate smokers are never able to quit completely. Those who try to quit often experience depression, severe headaches, and sometimes get a lot of weight as they turnto food as a substitute. In order to protect non-smokers from being affected, measures must betaken to reduce the chances of smoking. Children must be warned about the dangers of smoking. Cigarette companies should not be allowed to advertise on TV or radio, or in newspapers and magazines. Remove cigarette vending machines. Raise cigarette prices by adding higher tobacco taxes and use the money for antismoking campaigns.Dear Chairman,This letter may sound strange as a request, but I feel compelled to do so rather than call you. It is a complaint about those smoking colleagues who smoke in our meetings.I am not making a huge fuss about triviality, but most, if not all,of our women colleagues agree with me. Smoking may add to some men's manly manners, but smoking among so many people is really a nuisance. The smokers themselves, however, seem not to care or know the harm theyare doing to their health and our health. I do wish to stop them, but I am not the right man to do so, I am afraid. That is why I ask you for help. I speak on behalf of all nonsmokers who have not complained for their nice manners and their personal friendship forthe smokers. But I do hope something is to be done about it.You don't have to answer me by words. All we expect is a cleaner and safer meeting room.Thank you.Yours fondly,So and So感谢您的阅读,祝您生活愉快。

As we all know, tobacco is the raw material of cigarette. According to the least data, 1700 billion cigarettes are being produced in China last year, more than onemillion people die of smoking in 2013. Smoking has a close relation with cancers. People who smoke for years are easier to have liver cancer, lung cancer, throat cancer than those not. Smoking is not only bad for people’s health, but also pollutes the air. Those who take in second-hand smoke will also suffer from breathing infections. On the surface, smoking seems to be a personal thing, it has nothing to do with the whole country, but actually, it will cost a lot of burden of the family, even the society.
The government should do something to make the public realize the harm of smoking. The places such as schools, cinemas, restaurants, railway stations must not be smoked. People should get rid the bad habit of smoke. This is not only for themselves, but also for the whole world.
