新的课程改革要求我们改变传统的英语阅读教学理念、教学方法，转变学生的学习方法。
专家指出：“在传统的英语教学中老师们基本上是在语义层面进行教学，即老师给学生讲授，让学生练习的是词汇和语句的基本语义，中小学英语老师几乎不在语用层面开展英语教学，在教学中广泛存在语用意识缺席的状况。
”随着新课程改革的推进，我们这些在传统英语阅读教学中苦煞的老师更希望能找到一种新的教学方法，进一步提高学生的英语阅读素质，提高英语阅读教学质量。
根据课程标准对本节课的要求，针对小学生的心理特点和认知水平，结合教材，本着面向全体学生，基于学全面发展的原则，确定本节课的教学目标。
1.掌握本课时的单词：storybook, buy, story, dictionary, magazine,newspaper, week, student.2.能够听懂并运用：There be 句型“有”； I am going to do sth.“我打算做某事”3.培养学的读书热情。
教学重点：1.掌握重点句型并应用到生活中。
2.如何读好书。
学生分析五年级学生已步入小学高年级，他们身上既有活泼好动，喜欢有趣活动的特点，又已经从简单的课堂游戏感兴趣逐步深化为对英语本身及挑战思维的任务型活动感兴趣，学习的目的更加明确，喜欢将所学的语言运用到生活情境中。
教学目标Knowledge objectives知识与技能使学生运用所学知识把本节课的生活用语能够运用到实践当中，并且也能加强口语的练习。
过程与方法做游戏，学生分组进行情境表演，让其他同学猜一猜回顾学过的知识，并且能够应用到下面即将要讲的新课中。
情感态度和价值观通过活动，游戏等形式让学生产生学习英语的兴趣。
