大学英语诗歌朗诵稿《Time To Say Goodbye》
Time To Say Goodbye
We talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
Y ou better say it right now cause you don't have another day Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And I keep thinking of that night in June
I didn't know much of love
But it came too soon
And there was me and you
And then we got real cool
Stay at home talking on the telephone with me
We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels
As we go on
We remember
All the times we
Had together
And as our lives change
Come whatever
We will still be
Friends Forever
If we get the big jobs
And we make the big money
When we look back now
Will our jokes still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school? Still be trying to break every single rule
Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can we ever find a job that won't interfere with a tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
And this is how it feels
Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now? Can we survive it out there?
Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women and men
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us 'round? Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly

He could not read music, but if he heard a tune a few times, he could play it. When he was younger, he was a member of a small country music band. They would play at local dances and on a few occasions would play for the local radio station. He often told us how he had auditioned and earned a position in a band that featured Patsy Cline as their lead singer. He told the family that after he was hired he never went back. Dad was a very religious man. He stated that there was a lot of drinking and cursing the day of his audition and he did not want to be around that type of environment.Occasionally, Dad would get out his mandolin and play for the family. We three children: Trisha, Monte and I, George Jr., would often sing along. Songs such as the Tennessee Waltz, Harbor Lights and around Christmas time, the well-known rendition of Silver Bells. "Silver Bells, Silver Bells, its Christmas time in the city" would ring throughout the house. One of Dad's favorite hymns was "The Old Rugged Cross". We learned the words to the hymn when we were very young, and would sing itwith Dad when he would play and sing. Another song that was often shared in our house was a song that accompanied the Walt Disney series: Davey Crockett. Dad only had to hear the song twice before he learned it well enough to play it. "Davey, Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier" was a favorite song for the family. He knew we enjoyed the song and the program and would often get out the mandolin after the program was over. I could never get over how he could play the songs so well after only hearing them a few times. I loved to sing, but I never learned how to play the mandolin. This is something I regret to this day.Dad loved to play the mandolin for his family he knew we enjoyed singing, and hearing him play. He was like that. If he could give pleasure to others, he would, especially his family. He was always there, sacrificing his time and efforts to see that his family had enough in their life. I had to mature into a man and have children of my own before I realized how much he had sacrificed.I joined the United States Air Force in January of 1962. Whenever I would come home on leave, I would ask Dad to play the mandolin. Nobody played the mandolin like my father. He could touch your soul with the tones that came out of that old mandolin. He seemed to shine when he was playing. You could see his pride in his ability to play so well for his family. When Dad was younger, he worked for his father on the farm. His father was a farmer and sharecropped a farm for the man who owned the property. In 1950, our family moved from the farm. Dad had gained employment at the local limestone quarry. When the quarry closed in August of 1957, he had to seek other employment. He worked for Owens Yacht Company in Dundalk, Maryland and for Todd Steel in Point of Rocks, Maryland. Whileworking at Todd Steel, he was involved in an accident. His job was to roll angle iron onto a conveyor so that the welders farther up the production line would have it to complete their job. On this particular day Dad got the third index finger of his left hand mashed between two pieces of steel. The doctor who operated on the finger could not save it, and Dad ended up having the tip of the finger amputated. He didn't lose enough of the finger where it would stop him picking up anything, but it did impact his ability to play the mandolin. After the accident, Dad was reluctant to play the mandolin. He felt that he could not play as well as he had before the accident. When I came home on leave and asked him to play he would make excuses for why he couldn't play. Eventually, we would wear him down and he would say "Okay, but remember, I can't hold down on the strings the way I used to" or "Since the accident to this finger I can't play as good". For the family it didn't make any difference that Dad couldn't play as well. We were just glad that he would play. When he played the old mandolin it would carry us back to a cheerful, happier time in our lives. "Davey, Davey Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier", would again be heard in the little town of Bakerton, West Virginia. In August of 1993 my father was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. He chose not to receive chemotherapy treatments so that he could live out the rest of his life in dignity. About a week before his death, we asked Dad if he would play the mandolin for us. He made excuses but said "okay". He knew it would probably be the last time he would play for us. He tuned up the old mandolin and played a few notes. When I looked around, there was not a dry eye in the family. We saw before us a quiet humble man with an inner strength that comes fromknowing God, and living with him in one's life. Dad would never play the mandolin for us again. We felt at the time that he wouldn't have enough strength to play, and that makes the memory of that day even stronger. Dad was doing something he had done all his life, giving. As sick as he was, he was still pleasing others. Dad sure could play that Mandolin! Remember me--- Christina RossettiRemember me when I am gone away,Gone far away into the silent land; When you can no more hold me by the hand,Nor I half turn to go ,yet turning stay.Remember me when no more day by dayYou tell me of our future that planned:Only remember me ;you understandIt will be late to counsel then or pray.Yet if you should forget me for a whileAnd afterwards remember,do not grieve:For it darkness and corruption leaveA vestige of the thoughts that once I had,Better by far you should forget and smileThan that you should remember and be sad.

1 “If I could reach higher, just for one moment to touch the sky…”---this is from my favorite song Reach. When we are appreciating the passionate melody of Gloria Estefan, we could hardly imagine that she could return to the stage after her paralysis. In the year 1990, this Cuban singer was knocked down in a traffic accident, and the doctor declared that she might never walk again. But Gloria did not give up and kept up constant exercising. Just one year after the disaster, she stood up again and presented this encouraging song at the Atlanta Olympics.Whene ver I think of Gloria, I can’t help recalling my memory seven years ago, when I first entered university. Naturally shy, ordinary looking, average scores in study, just like an ugly duckling, I seemed to be the least outstanding one in my class. And the successive failures in the beginning led me into despair. “Am I destined to take the back seat to others?” Unwilling to submit to the fate, I paid more efforts on my study as well as many other activities, film dubbing, recital, drama… cause I just want to c atch every little opportunity to prove myself. Constant effort yields sure success. Thanks to the competition, I received some awards and most of all, I gained the courage and confidence to face any difficulties in my life journey.Life is just like farming, and what you can reap depends a lot on your sowing and dedication. Once you have a dream, don’t be hesitant. Your next difficult step may be the one to the top. Keep going forward, even in the toughest time, and never give up.

H. AudenShe looked over his shoulderFor vines and olive trees,Marble well-governed citiesAnd ships upon untamed seas,But there on the shining metalHis hands had put insteadAn artificial wildernessAnd a sky like lead.A plain without a feature, bare and brown,No blade of grass, no sign of neighborhood,Nothing to eat and nowhere to sit down,Yet, congregated on its blankness, stoodAn unintelligible multitude,A million eyes, a million boots in line,Without expression, waiting for a sign.Out of the air a voice without a faceProved by statistics that some cause was justIn tones as dry and level as the place:No one was cheered and nothing was discussed;Column by column in a cloud of dustThey marched away enduring a beliefWhose logic brought them, somewhere else, to grief. She looked over his shoulderFor ritual pieties,White flower-garlanded heifers,Libation and sacrifice,But there on the shining metalWhere the altar should have been,She saw by his flickering forge-lightQuite another scene.Barbed wire enclosed an arbitrary spotWhere bored officials lounged (one cracked a joke) And sentries sweated for the day was hot:A crowd of ordinary decent folkWatched from without and neither moved nor spoke As three pale figures were led forth and boundTo three posts driven upright in the ground. The mass and majesty of this world, allThat carries weight and always weighs the same Lay in the hands of others; they were smallAnd could not hope for help and no help came:What their foes like to do was done, their shame Was all the worst could wish; they lost their pride And died as men before their bodies died. She looked over his shoulderFor athletes at their games,Men and women in a danceMoving their sweet limbsQuick, quick, to music,But there on the shining shieldHis hands had set no dancing-floorBut a weed-choked field.A ragged urchin, aimless and alone,Loitered about that vacancy; a birdFlew up to safety from his well-aimed stone:That girls are raped, that two boys knife a third,Were axioms to him, who'd never heardOf any world where promises were kept,Or one could weep because another wept. The thin-lipped armorer,Hephaestos, hobbled away,Thetis of the shining breastsCried out in dismayAt what the god had wroughtTo please her son, the strongIron-hearted man-slaying AchillesWho would not live long. 3The Silenceby Philip SchultzYou always called late and drunk, your voice luxurious with pain,I, tightly wrapped in dreaming, listening as if to a ghost.Tonight a friend called to say your bodywas found in your apartment, whereit had lain for days. You'd lost your job, stopped writing, saw nobody for weeks.Your heart, he said. Drink had destroyed you.We met in a college town, first teaching jobs, poems flowing from a grief we enshrinedwith myth and alcohol. I envied the waywomen looked at you, a bear blunt with rage, tearing through an ever-darkening wood.Once we traded poems like photos of womenwhose beauty tested God's faith. 'Read this oneabout how friendship among the young can't last,it will rip your heart out of your chest!'Once you called to say J was leaving, the pain stuck in your throat like a razor blade.A woman was calling me back to bedso I said I'd call back. But I never did.The deep forlorn smell of moss and pinebehind your stone house, you strummingand singing Lorca, Vallejo, De Andrade,as if each syllable tasted of blood,as if you had all the time in the world. . .You knew your angels loved youbut you also knew they would leavesomeone they could not save. 4Cherries in the Snowby Richard JonesMy mother never appeared in publicwithout lipstick. If we were going out,I'd have to wait by the door untilshe painted her lips and turnedfrom the hallway mirror, put on her gloves and picked up her purse, opening the purse to seeif she'd remembered tissues. After lunch in a restaurantshe might ask,"Do I need lipstick?"If I said yes,she would discretely turnand refresh her faded lips.Opening the black and gold canister, she'd peer in a round compactas if she were looking into another world. Then she'd touch her lips to a tissue. Whenever I went searchingin her coat pocket or pursefor coins or candyI'd find, crumpled, those small white tissues covered with bloodred kisses.I'd slip them into my pocket, along with the stones and feathersI thought, back then, I'd keep.。

These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a deep ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy---ecstasy so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of my lifefor a few hours for this joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieves loneliness---that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over the rim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it, finally, because in the union of love I have seen, in a mystic miniature, the prefiguring vision of the heaven that saints and poets have imagined. This is what I sought, and though it might seem too good for human life, this is what---at last---I have found. With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of men. I have wished to know why the stars shine. And I have tried to apprehend the Pythagorean power by which number holds sway above the flux. A little of this, but not much, I have achieved.Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth. Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart. Children in famine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a hatred burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be.I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer. This has been my life. I have found it worth living, and would gladly live it again if the chance were offered me. 大学英语诗歌朗诵(三)When Love Beckons YouWhen love beckons to you, follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you, yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you, believe in him, though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. But if, in your fear, you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshin g-floor, into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but it self and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not,nor would it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love.Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if you love and must have desires, let these be your desires:To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy; To return home at eventide with gratitude; And then to sleep with a payer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

S. Merwin)Our lives no longer feel ground under them.At ten paces you can't hear our words. But whenever there's a snatch of talkit turns to the Kremlin mountaineer, the ten thick worms his fingers, his words like measures of weight, the huge laughing cockroaches on his top lip,the glitter of his boot-rims.Ringed with a scum of chicken-necked bosseshe toys with the tributes of half-men.One whistles, another meows, a third snivels. He pokes out his finger and he alone goes boom.He forges decrees in a line like horseshoes,One for the groin, one the forehead, temple, eye.He rolls the executions on his tongue like berries. He wishes he could hug them like big friends from home. The Stormby Theodore Roethke1Against the stone breakwater,Only an ominous lapping,While the wind whines overhead,Coming down from the mountain,Whistling between the arbors, the winding terraces;A thin whine of wires, a rattling and flapping of leaves,And the small street-lamp swinging and slamming against the lamp pole.Where have the people gone? There is one light on the mountain.2Along the sea-wall, a steady sloshing of the swell,The waves not yet high, but even,Coming closer and closer upon each other;A fine fume of rain driving in from the sea,Riddling the sand, like a wide spray of buckshot,The wind from the sea and the wind from the mountain contending,Flicking the foam from the whitecaps straight upward into the darkness.A time to go home!——And a child's dirty shift billows upward out of an alley,A cat runs from the wind as we do,Between the whitening trees, up Santa Lucia,Where the heavy door unlocks,And our breath comes more easy,——Then a crack of thunder, and the black rain runs over us,overThe flat-roofed houses, coming down in gusts, beating The walls, the slatted windows, drivingThe last watcher indoors, moving the cardplayers closerTo their cards, their anisette.3We creep to our bed, and its straw mattress. We wait; we listen. The storm lulls off, then redoubles,Bending the trees half-way down to the ground,Shaking loose the last wizened oranges in the orchard,Flattening the limber carnations.A spider eases himself down from a swaying light-bulb,Running over the coverlet, down under the iron bedstead. The bulb goes on and off, weakly.Water roars into the cistern. We lie closer on the gritty pillow,Breathing heavily, hoping——For the great last leap of the wave over the breakwater,The flat boom on the beach of the towering sea-swell,The sudden shudder as the jutting sea-cliff collapses,And the hurricane drives the dead straw into the living pine-tree.。
