I'm a 7th grader at Central Middle School and I've been thinking a lot lately about this idea of parents paying kids money to get good grades or do well in school. Some of my friends get an allowance or even cash rewards based on their report cards. My parents haven't really done that with me though. Instead, they've always encouraged me by saying stuff like "We're so proud of you for working hard!" or "Keep it up and you can go far in life." To be honest, I kinda go back and forth on whether I think money motivators are a good idea or not.On one hand, I get why parents would try that approach. We kids absolutely LOVE money! Getting paid to learn almost makes it seem like school is some unpleasant chore we have to suffer through, like doing dishes or mowing the lawn. But in my opinion, education is an amazing opportunity that not every kid in the world is lucky enough to have access to.
