1.off and on (or on and off): from time to time; sometimes; now and again; irregularly断断续

10.anticipate: vt. (+sth./gerund/that-clause) expect 预期,期望

(“Expect” is the more used word. “expect”更常用)

---The police had anticipated trouble from the soccer fans and were at the ground (此处指at the soccer ground) in large numbers.

---They anticipate that deaths from AIDS will have doubled by 2002.

---We anticipate running into problems in carrying out the medical welfare reform.

11.tedious: a.boring and lasting for a long time乏味的,冗长的, 沉闷的
