A brief talk on Platonic loveAbstractThis paper is mainly about a study on chinese and western classcial theory class, and its topic is about platonic love.In the beginning of the paper, is a introduction about the theory’s author, Plato is the ancient Greeks great philosopher and thinker, he is so famous in philosophy, music and so on , Platonic love is the center of this paper.The next part is the theory. Plato’s love spirit, also known as Platonic love, he thought that when the mind give up the human body to yearn for the truth, then the thought is the best.what’s going on , the paper’s body is beginning with Platonic love’sfour meaning.,the ideal type of love, Pure spirit love rather than the carnal love. The equal love between men and women, Anyone has his or her perfect lover, and only one lover. The purpose of this paper is to put foword the personal idea. And give the different idea and example to prove it from four aspects, the four idea is :ideal love is not exist. Pure spirit love rather than the carnal love is not suit for the modern society.The equal love between men and women is fantastic, the idea of there is only one person is perfect in your heart in the world is unrealistic.After this, there are two examples to agree with plato’s spirit,they are “everybody who fell in love is a poet.”and “if fell in love, don’t let it get away, recklessly may make you regret for a while, but cowardice may make you regret for the whole life.”Whatever, plato is a femous philosopher, his words is more influence on people’s mind than common people.At last, combine with the realisitc, platonic love is only live in people’s mind, the conclusion is that platonic love does not suit the modern society.The key words: platonic love female and male modern society1.introduction1.1 About the authorPlato is the ancient Greeks great philosopher, he is also one of the western philosophy and even the entire western culture's greatest philosophers and thinkers, he and his teacher Socrates, his students Aristotle called the three philosopher of ancient Greece.Plato is so famous in philosophy, music, economics, politics and so on. Nowadays, I want to talk something about Platonic love and give some personal ideas.1.2. about the theoryPlato’s love spirit, a lso known as Platonic love, was used the western femous philosopher Plato’s name. It’s a kind of love spirit between males and females,which seek for soul communication, sensual rejection.Plato thought that when the mind give up the human body to yearn for the truth, then the thought is the best. But when the soul is infected by the human body evil, people’sdesire of seek the truth will not to be satisfied. When humans have little demand for sensual, state of mind is peaceful, sensual is the performance of brutish nature in human nature, it’s the nature of every living organisms, people are called the higher animals, because in the nature of man, human nature is better than brutish nature, spirit exchanges is good and moral.2.bodyPlatonic love have four meaning:First, the ideal type of love (parable extremely romantic or impossible love).Second, Pure spirit love rather than the carnal love.Third,The equal love between men and women.Forth, there is only one person is perfect in your heart in the world. That is to say ,Anyone has his or her perfect lover, and only one lover.In my opinions, I think every meaning has its Limitation. And many of them is not suit for the modern society.First, I think ideal love is not exist. That is to say ,this kind of love only exist in people’s imagination. This idea came from Plato’s famous book ,“the utopia”. People often think something will never come ture, its’ all based on the good imagination about the crue reality. Human’s life has its deadline, so, in my mind, when people died, the love of them also died, they leave memory for the living person, not love. My opinion is based on the materialism:Material Decide Consciousness. People’s dead will take his consciousness, life has gone, love must gone with it. So ,love is short. Idea love is not exist, at least in my mind.Second, Pure spirit love rather than the carnal love is not suit for the modern society. In peronal thought , I think this idea has its advancing aspect and its limitation. One hand, two people can have the same feeling in the spirit belong to their own life, and they can communication without concession ,it’s a predestined relationship. such as Reinhardt and Schilde, their love was based on their confirm to each other. Chinese poetess Shu Ting written a poem“To The Oak”，there is a sentence can express my understanding about pure spirit:we partake cold tide,thunder storm,firebolt，together we share brume,flowing mist,rainbow ，as if we separate all the time ，actually we forever rely on each other ，this is great love ，loyalty lives here，Love，not only your giant body，but also the position you stand，the earth under your feet. It’s a wonderful dream about love. On the other hand, this kind of love almost die out. In nowaday’s society, love without sex is almost a joke. In the materialistic era, people run after money , house.beauty girls, golden bachelor and so on. Material is more important than emotion, the ancients’ thought about love become so unreal. I am not a pessimism person , but in my eyes , Plato’s spirit love may only can discribe the love in past years. It’s luxurious.Third, The equal love between men and women is fantastic.Plato thought people before and after death stayed in the concept of the real world,where everyone is men and women use the same one body, when came to this world we are split in two parts, So people always feel lost, trying to find the other part of his own Plato also use this explain why people will have "love". In his theory, the other part is so important, so males and females are equal. And when you are finding the other part of you, the other part of you isalso finding you.without a doubt, this idea is advanced and sapiential, its taught us we must treat our lover equal, and it was a real romantic idea. The relationship between husband and wife is just like what Plato had say: males and females are equal. But I had to say, Plato was a person who lived in his imagination, and his spirit only can be the famous words, it’s so difficult to realize it. In our world , many years have past , men is the superior is also the main stream. In recent report about income , job , education , women always be the weak. During the relationship in love . always women get more hurt , just like Socrates said, “men can alive because he can forget, women can alive because she can remember.” How unequal! If men and women can get the balance of equal, men and women’s reaction about love will not so different. In my understanding , love to men is an entertainment, but to women, love is life.Forth, the idea of there is only one person is perfect in your heart in the world is unrealistic. His words,that is to say ,Anyone has his or her perfect lover, and only one lover. It’s also a very romantic idea. I think Plato was a person who has very pure soul and spirit. Person who has this idea he or she may be in the adolescence. Such young people has pure thought , when begin their first love ,they often think it’s perpetual and the only for their life. Everybody can’t forget their first love , because they can’t go to the past , have the same mood to love someone. The fact prove that the most people will not have one love , they often meet many people, then know who is his or her real love. Even so , we can’t negate his past love is wrong , it’s only because wrong time , wrong place , meet wrong people. Love always right. In the past years , people must have only one marriage , or like ancient china , a men will have many marriage , but in nowadays society , if the couple don’t want to live together, they can divoice at anytime, then go to next love ,next marriage. But how can we know which one is our the other parts?I think it’s benevolent see benevolence.Even some plato’s spirit is not suit for our modern society , many of his famous remark also influenced our life a lot. Such as“everybody who fell in love is a poet.”Actually, many of us have this beautiful experience. Love is a miracle, when you fall in love with somebody , you will find everyday is sunshine day , your smile come from your heart.love makes people light up.Plato also said that if fell in love, don’t let it get away, recklessly may make you regret for a while, but cowardice may make you regret for the whole life. This sentence told us to run after your love bravely, this is also can be used in every chance in person’s life, to be or not to be ,that is not a question, that is a life chance. Get what is belong to you, because the most regret thing is give up easily what your should n’t give up. Time waits for no man.3.ConclusionPlato is a femous person, but not every femous person’s words are the turth. Platonic love is aestheticism, romantic, it’s stand for humans pure soul, but I will insist on my understanding about love, when with the dream of love,we must face the ture world. We may not have the chance to get our real love ,but we will try. Maybe in plato’s times, there were many princesses and her Mr.right had that kind of love. But in our modernworld , to be realistic may be the best choice.。
