From the majestic Great Wall to the serene beauty of the West Lake in Hangzhou, every corner of this vast country has a story to tell. Here's a brief essay on my travels through China, exploring its rich heritage.China, a land of contrasts, where ancient traditions coexist with modern advancements, has always been a dream destination for me. My journey began in Beijing, the capital city, where I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the Forbidden City. This vast palace complex, with its red walls and golden roofs, was once the imperial residence and is now a museum that houses a vast collection of Chinese art and artifacts. As I walked along the Great Wall, I couldn't help but marvel at the architectural feat that spans over 13,000 miles. It's not just a defensive structure but also a symbol of China's resilience and strength. The wall winds its way across mountains and deserts, standing as a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Chinese builders.Moving south to the city of Hangzhou, I was captivated by the West Lake. The lake's tranquil waters, surrounded by lush gardens and pagodas, provided a peaceful respite from thehustle and bustle of the city. A boat ride on the lakeoffered a different perspective of the landscape, with each view more picturesque than the last.No trip to China would be complete without experiencing its culinary delights. From the spicy Sichuan cuisine to the delicate flavors of Cantonese dishes, the food in China is as diverse as its landscape. I particularly enjoyed the street food in Shanghai, where I sampled everything from savory dumplings to sweet rice cakes. The Terracotta Army in Xi'an was another highlight of my trip. The life-sized terracotta soldiers, each with distinct facial features, were created to protect Emperor Qin Shi Huang inthe afterlife. This underground army is a fascinating glimpse into China's past and the lengths the emperors would go to ensure their legacy.Throughout my travels, I was struck by the warmth and hospitality of the Chinese people. Their love for theircountry and its history is evident in the way they sharetheir stories and traditions with visitors.China is a country that will leave you with a sense of aweand a desire to return. English passages:1.The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China in part to protect the Chinese Empire or its prototypical states against intrusions by various nomadic groups or military incursions by various warlike peoples or forces. Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC;[3] these, later joined together and made bigger, stronger, and unified are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall.[4] Especially famous is the wall built between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, and enhanced; the majority of the existing wall was reconstructed during the Ming Dynasty.Other purposes of the Great Wall have included border controls, allowing the imposition of duties on goods transported along the Silk Road, regulation or encouragement of trade and the control of immigration and emigration. Furthermore, the defensive characteristics of the Great Wall were enhanced by the construction of watch towers, troop barracks, garrison stations, signaling capabilities through the means of smoke or fire, and the fact that the path of the Great Wall also served as a transportation corridor. The Great Wall stretches from Shanhaiguan in the east, to Lop Lake in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. A comprehensive archaeological survey, using advanced technologies, has concluded that the Ming walls measure 8,850 km (5,500 mi).[5] This is made up of 6,259 km (3,889 mi)sections of actual wall, 359 km (223 mi) of trenches and 2,232 km (1,387 mi) of natural defensive barriers such as hills and rivers.[5] Another archaeological survey found that the entire wall with all of its branches measure out to be 21,196 km (13,171 mi).[6]---- The Great Wall of China, Wikipedia2.
