Example:Wrong: The electron named in 1894.Right: Stoney NAMED the electron in 1894.
Example:In the waning days of the emperor's life, the conquest of new lands on theborders of the empire was/were considered vital.
OG SC 6060. While all states face similar industrial waste problems, the predominating industries and the regulatory environment of the states obviously determines the types and amounts of waste produced, as well as the cost of disposal.(E) all states face similar industrial waste problems, the predominant industries and the regulatory environment of each state obviously determine正确答案E选项,在主句中用了each state而不是all states,因为while这个连词在这里是although的意思,表示让步的同时表示一种对比。

1.With diamonds, as with all gems, one should ask for a written description of one’s purchase; the description may prove useful later if you have reason to believe the jeweler misled you.(A) one should ask for a written description of one’s purchase(B) you should ask for a written description of your purchase(C) a written discretion of your purchase is what one should ask for(D) a written descri ption of one’s purchase is what should be asked for(B)(E) a written description of your purchase is what should be asked for我用GOOGLE搜的也几乎是as with + n.(n.

原则二:Just like 是wordy, like就可以了。
Like**, **also 也是redundant。
(e.g.,og119.C)3. like
(e.g.,og091)但like+n.也可作表语 (looks like, reads like (e.g.,大全568)),或普通状语(说普通是区分独立成分)(v.+like+n.,e.g., og119)。

But the d ebate could not be resolved because no one was abl e to ask the crucial questions in a form in which they could be pursued productively. GMAT 056Yet, like Paine, Woodward had an unerring sense of the revolutionary moment, and of how historical evid ence coul d und ermine the mythol ogical tradition that was crushing the dreams of new social possibilities. 1. For at l east two d ecades or more previous to when the Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepol o died in 1770, he was the most admired painter in Italy.A.For at least two decades or more previous to when the Venetian artistGiovanni Battista Tiepolo died in 1770, he wasB.For at least two decades before the Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolodied in 1770, he had beenC.For at least two decades or more before the Venetian artist Giovanni BattistaTiepolo's dying in 1770, he had beenD.When the Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo died in 1770, for at leasttwo decades previously he wasE.When the Venetian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo died in 1770, having beenfor at least two decades before that解题步骤1. 2. The number of peopl e flying first class on d omestic flights rose sharply in 1990,d oubling the increase of the previous year.A.doubling the increase ofB.doubling that of the increase inC.double as much as the increase ofD.twice as many as the increase inE.twice as many as the increase of解题步骤:由于划线部分较少,可以先将未划线部分进行分析:The number of peopl e flying first class on d omestic flightsrose sharply in 1990,句子结构:“主修饰词谓,…”1. 准确是否有明显语法错误-B错:句子结构“主修饰词谓,d oubling 修饰主语”;d oubling 后面that 无指代-C错:句子结构“主修饰词谓,d oubl e 修饰主语”;d oubl e as much as 没有这个用法,且d oubl e应该ing形式2. (1)you say "twice as many", then this construction should be paired witha countable noun.(2)., twice as many dogs --> "dogs" is a countable noun(3)If you said "twice as much", then this construction should be paired withan uncountable noun.(4)., twice as much water --> "water" is an uncountable noun(5)If the noun in question is already an explicitly numerical quantity, thenyou should use neither "much" nor "many". instead, you should just use"twice" or "double" by itself.(6)., twice the increase --> "increase" is an explicitly numerical quantity如果知道的话,第一步即可选出正确选项;在上面的解题步骤中,并没有看出这个错误,而通过其他criteria找到正确选项,在某种程度上来说更接近我们真实考试的状态;3. Laos has a land area about the same as Great Britain but only 4 million in population, where many are members of hill tribes ensconced in the virtually inaccessibl e mountain valleys of the north.A.about the same as Great Britain but only 4 million in population, where manyB.of about the same size as Great Britain is, but in Laos there is a population ofonly 4 million, and manyC.that is about the same size as Great Britain's land area, but in Laos with apopulation of only 4 million people, many of themparable to the size of Great Britain, but only 4 million in population, andmanyparable to that of Great Britain but a population of only 4 million people, many of whom解题步骤:1. 准确是否有明显语法错误-A错:句子结构“Laos has A but B”;作为B的修饰语where 不能指代population -B错:句子结构“Laos has A, but in Laos there is …., and 主谓宾”; A中is 跟has 不平行,而且but那句wordy-D错:句子结构“Laos has A, but 4 million in population, and 主谓宾”;第二个主谓宾中many 没有指代对象2. 清晰是否知道句子在说什么-C保留:句子结构“Laos has A, but 修饰语,主谓宾”;修饰语but in Laos with a population of only 4 million peopl e想要表达Laos人口是4 million, 但是这个表达有些奇怪,暂时保留3. Laos has a land area but a population并列结构,many of whomwhom 修饰population;句子没有语法错误,句意清晰,表达清楚;4. Approved April 24, 1800, the act of Congress that made provision for the removal of the government of the United States to the new federal city, Washington, ., also established the Library of Congress.A. Approved April 24, 1800, the act of Congress that made provision for theremoval of the government of the United States to the new federal city, Washington, ., also establishedB. Approved April 24, 1800, the act of Congress made provision for theremoval of the government of the United States to the new federal city,Washington, ., also establishing解题步骤:1. 5. Deborah Aguiar-Velez, found er of Sistemas Corporation, has written a computer textbook in Spanish for peopl e who speak Spanish and so then d o not have to rely on translations from English.A.for people who speak Spanish and so thenB.for people who speak Spanish, and then theyC.for people speaking Spanish whoD.so that people who speak SpanishE.so that people can speak Spanish and then解题步骤:由于划线部分较少,可以先将未划线部分进行分析:Deborah Aguiar-Velez, found er of Sistemas Corporation, has written a computer textbook in Spanish句子结构:“主语,修饰语,谓宾+….”1. “Deborah has written a text book and so d o not have to…”; and 后面的主语应该是说Spanish Peopl e, 而不是作者C错:句子结构“主语,修饰语,谓宾”;宾语的修饰语中speaking Spanish 跟who 引导的从句同时修饰peopl e, 用法奇怪,句意也奇怪2.
