previous days a boy named Manolin was fallowing him as a company, but the kind boy was force to leave the old man by his parents who thought that the old man was unlucky.Santiago went fishing alone in the eighty-fifth day and got a big fish which fully has 18 foot length in the measure.However, on the way back a shark came and ate thestly, the marlin left only a skeleton.The book is a fable describing the unconquerable spirit of the old man--How he take in the spiritual victory from the circumstance that is full of disasters.Hemingway seems to believe that there are only two options: defeat or endurance until destruction;Santiago clearly chooses the latter.His stoic determination is mythic, nearly Christ-like in proportion.He didn't give the old man the success, but fortitude and The Old Man and The Sea is a very famous novel written by Ernest Hemingway in the 20th century, which is based on the novel written true story Hemingway himself has experienced,and this novel laid the foundation of Hemingway's prominent position in world literature.
The author of the book Ernest Hemingway is one of the most famous American novelist, short-story writer and essayist. The Old Man and the Sea was written in 1951 in Cuba, and published in 1952 and won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1953 and he won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954.It is the crystallization of Hemingway's personal outlook on the world and life. It is one of the most influential novels in the twentieth Century European literary world, which has a great influence on the development of European literature.This book reflects Hemingway's philosophy of life and moral ideal, unyielding warrior spirit and the positive optimistic life attitude.
This is a story about the struggle between the old man and nature. The background of the story is in the middle of twentieth Century in Cuba. The hero is an old fisherman named Santiago, the supporting role is a child called Ma Nuolin.An ailing old fisherman didn't catch a fish for 84 days in a row, but he still refused to admit defeat and full of fighting spirit, finally in the 85th day fishing to a height of 18 feet, one thousand five hundred pound marlin.Big fish dragged the boat into the sea,the old man still not give up,even if there is no water, no food, no weapons, no assistant,and finally he killed the big fish. But many sharks immediately come to rob him of his spoils. He killed them one by one with a broken tiller.The big fish still can not escape the fate of being eaten, eventually, the old man towed back to an exhausted fish bones.He returned home exhausted, but from a dream to find the good old days, to forget the harsh reality By reading this book,I was deeply moved by the unyielding spirit of the old man.His courage to fight is admirable.Although the old man was ultimately unsuccessful, but facing the irreversible fate, he dare to struggle, strong and unyielding, to fight to the last.
