英国和美国在政治、经济、文化等方面的不断发展,造就了它们各自不同的语言特征。
美式英语起源于18世纪70年代,美国的独立战争爆发时,战乱的特殊原因导致绝大多数美国人来自欧洲移民,尤其以英格兰人为主,大多讲英国英语。
近几十年来,由于美国的贸易、军事、科技、国际地位等方面远远超过英国,再加上美国电影风靡全球,促使美国本土的俚语很多已经渗透到了口语之中。
很多因素导致美式英语成为强势语言。
2.发音方面存在的不同。
英语和美语的发音最具代表性的区别是对er的发音的不同。
英语中,短音的er是的浑元音,但长音的er是个拉长了的浑元音,听起来是一个介于“俄”和“啊”的声音。
而美语中,er听起来怎么都是个“儿”音。
ar:除了轻读短音(如singular)和者后连元音(如clarity),英语的ar全部清一色的长音[a:],而美语中,是“阿尔”。
英语和美语的辅音基本是一致的,但在使用习惯上也有些差别。
如词组clear animosity,英语会读成clear,animosity,而美语会读成clear—ranimosity。
另一个比较明显的区别是d和t。

它是英语中常见的一种语法结构,看似简单,人们一开始学英语就会碰到。
比如:Beijing is the capital of our country;He is the monitor of our class. 句中n(a)+n(b)是一种从属关系,“of”译为“的”。
在由于简单,人们认为,这种语法只表示单一的概念,也只有一种译法,于是不管语言环境发生什么变化,现成的译法到处可套,结果译文既不能表达原文的意思,又不符合汉语的习惯。
下面略举几例,即可见问题之一斑。

During the English teaching, each of the teachers’ teaching beliefs sho uld be humanity, and the basic location is cognitive education, sowe should believe that every student has great potential ability in learning, and that each of the students has an abundant and special mental world. We should make the students play the mostimportant role, and concentrate on their all-round development so thatthe students have the ability of continuous development, which will come into important play in their lifelong education.The teachers should concentrate on inspiri ng and developing the students’ interest in learning English, which can help the students to be confident and enthusiastic about their studies andlife, and form the effective study strategy, and develop good habit of study. Teachers should do their best to offer much study space to students in order to make different students experiencethe progress and success.Many years later, we always think the most important thing in teaching is what helps the students to grasp the English knowledge, but we ignored the students’ spiritual world. In fact, thestudents’ senses of social responsibility, strict study attitude and positive emotion all have an effect on their English learning. As teachers, we should respect our students and put ouremotion into the English teaching. For respecting the students, we also admit that there are a lot of differences among them. Every student has his personality; they should be given an equalchance to study. According to the differences among them, we offer theright ways of studying to different students. Dr Howard Gardener, a famous psychologist and educator in present age, hewrote a book called “Frames of mind”, Theory of Multiple Intelligenceis raised by him in the book. Human intelligence is classified as seven classifications by Gardener: Parole-languageIntelligence, Logic-mathematical Intelligence, Vision-space Intelligence, Body-sporting Intelligence, Music-tempo Intelligence, Association-Communicative Intelligence, and Know OneselfIntelligence. The classification of intellectual structure is greathelpful to us in changing our educational beliefs and knowing the students’ discrepancy again. In fact, during the Englishteaching we find the discrepancy between girls and boys, most of thegirls are good at memorizing words and rules, but most of the boys are good at reading and thinking. Some students are goodat spoken language while others are good at written language. A teacher should guide his students according to the different characteristics of the different students.2. During the English teaching we should concentrate on developing the students’ integrating skills.The main aim of the new textbook is to help students to improve their integrating skills. The formation of this kind of ability is based on students’ language skills, language knowledge,sentimental attitude, study strategy, and cultural consciousness. We can support these views by summarizing them like this:1 The main purpose of learning is to grasp the language skills.Language skills include listening, speaking, reading and writing.Listening and reading are the input of language called input skill, speakingand writing is the output of language calledexpressing skill. The ability of the use of language of a person can be improved in the process of receiving informationAnd expressing himself. During the English teaching , listening, speaking, reading, and writing not only are the purpose of learning, but also are the means of learning. So during our Englishteaching we must help the students to improve their integrating skillsby guiding the students to practise listening, speaking, reading, and writing.2.The acquisition of the basic knowledge of English is greatly helpful to one’s English learning, which is the foundation of forming ability.We are opposed to the view that teachers teach students English is to teach them English grammar, but that doesn’t mean we don’t learn grammar. Grasping language skill is necessary forChinese people who want to learn English. The basic knowledge of language is an organic part of language ability and plays an important role in the development of language ability. The problemis that we can’t regar d the learning of basic knowledge as the only purpose of learning English; we think that teachers teach students English is not to teach them grammar. At present, somepeople misunderstand that teachers improve and develop the ability of English is not the learning of the knowledge of language;they also think that knowledge is opposed to ability, obviously,and that view is wrong.3.To some degree, that the students utilize the language is related to their emotional attitude, cultural consciousness and study strategy.English teaching concentrates mainly on psychological factor and the background of English culture, which not only is the important factor toaffect the learning of English, but also is animportant aspect of human development. Unless he is interested in the background of English culture, a person who can not keep persevering enthusiasm and motive power for learning English. Atthe same time, we also guide the students to choose the right strategy of study. Now, we point out that teachers regard the ability development of the students as the most important thing. Agood teacher should prepare lessons according to the acceptive degree of the students and teach the students how to learn English, in fact, some approaches to the study of English can help thestudents to improve the efficiency of study in the process of learning English.3. It is necessary for teachers to utilize information technology sufficiently during the English teaching.In recent years, the fast development of information technology has been reforming the model of education in a high degree. It is an inevitable tendency to introduce scientific theories andadvanced teaching means into class by utilizing information technology to reform the conventional teaching mode. What is the basic theory ofutilizing information technology during the Englishteaching? The aims we pursue are only a change on the surface of teaching? Obviously not. 一、东方文化和西方文化影响下的电影片名的特征现在越来越多的优秀的外语电影,其中以英语电影居多,进入中国市场并且广受欢迎,这其中一个好的片名翻译功不行没。
不同语言影响下的电影片名的特征也不尽相同,现简要论述。
(一)以英文为主的西方电影片名的特征1.是以英语为主的西方文化和思维方式的表现西方国家的历史相对较短,而且由于西方国家近代以前很少形成较大的统一的国家,没有一个被广阔人民接受为主流的文化思想以及思维方式,所以西方国家的文化相对来说比较分散,而且各成一派。
由于各个方面的讨论历史不长,所以思维方式比较注意表象特征及其规律。
这样的文化和思维方式表现在电影片名上就是比较简明扼要,也相对比较随便。
傅雷认为“西人重分析,微小,曲折,挖掘生怕不尽,描写生怕不周”[1]。
西方文化更加倾向于强调细节,看重局部要素的精度和细度,从分析局部进而扩展到全部,重分析、重局部的思维方式表现得淋漓尽致。
这种文化导向反映在片名上就是常常采纳人名这个极具个人主义特色的线索作为电影进展主线。
个人主义在英文电影中得到了极大的反映,例如SUPERMAN(超人)、SPIDERMAN(蜘蛛侠)、BATMAN(蝙蝠侠)和007等各种一个人挽救世界的个人英雄主义在西方国家经久不衰,整个故事甚至可以说是完全为了主角而编写,除了男女主角和主要的配角外,许多其他配角基本难以在电影中表现自身性格和特点,无法给观众留下深刻印象。
2.英文片名结构相对随便英文电影的片名相对比较随便,短则一个单词(如Avatar),长则一句话(如The Englishman Who Went up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain),而且许多电影以人名命名,假如观众在看电影之前并不知道这个人的故事,那么就会有许多怀疑,直到看完电影才知道电影所讲内容。

但是研究结论并不十分一致,甚至前后矛盾。
虽然研究不完善,却能为课堂教师提出可行的建议。
自Truscott(1996)提出语法修正不但无效而且还有害,并提议要废除语法修改的观点以来,许多研究者(如Baker & Bricker, 2010; Ellis et al., 2008; Ferris, 2006; Bichener et al., 2005 等) 对修正反馈的作用进行了一系列的实证研究,他们的研究结果都或多或少地证明了修正反馈的有效性,不仅如此他们还指出:给学习者修正反馈不但能帮助学习者修改写作中所犯的语法错误,还能减少他们在撰写新的文章时再犯同类错误。
但从严格意义上讲,目前国内对于修正反馈的作用在中国这样一个具体环境下的相关研究极少,仅有少数研究文献是对国外相关研究的评论或者概括的定性讨论。
因此不管是对修正反馈的短期作用还是长期作用的实证研究都是十分缺乏的。
大多数研究都着眼于反馈对写作和语法的影响,然而其他课程的教师和研究者们也同样希望知道他们应该如何对待学习者在学习写作和语法以外的课程时所犯的错误,比如教师应该如何对待学习者在学习翻译课程时所犯的语法错误。
为了探索修正反馈的有效性和在翻译错误方面的作用,本研究调查了不同反馈策略对62名大学三年级学生翻译准确率的影响,具体研究受试在修改首次译稿以及三次事后测验中使用介词、连词和冠词的准确率的变化。
该研究历时12个星期,受试来自重庆大学外国语学院英语专业的三个平行班级。
研究包括两个实验组和一个控制组,实验组受试分别给予在目标错误下划线和直接修改目标错误两种不同修正策略的反馈,控制组则不给予针对目标错误的反馈。

For example, Uncle Sam is representative of the American government and the American people; the buffalo nickel is made in memory of the Indians and the buffalo, which were victims during the westward movement.However, as far as I’m concerned, out of all of America's symbols, none has proved more enduring or evocative than the Statue of Liberty.The statue of liberty is a colossal sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. It was designed by a French designer, Frederic Bartholdi. The statue was a gift from the people of France in honor of the Centennial Anniversary of the liberty of the United States.It is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom who bears a torch in her right hand. The tablet in her left hand evoking law is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4th, 1776. After the revolutionary war, freedom was achieved and liberty meant more of the long struggle and diligence for a better life. At the end of the 19th century, westward movement began. As the essence of the United States is democratic republic, American people attach much importance to democracy, to which the political regime of the country could present evidence.When the United States emerged from the British colonial system 200 years ago, it stood alone as a symbol of modern democracy. Although in recent years there have been doubts on how robust is U.S. democracy and should it be a model for emerging democracies. It has, however, been steadily democratic for at least 200 years. Just as what was stated in the Declaration of Independence: That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to the m shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness. As we know, unlike most other countries in the world, America is primarily a nation of immigrants; the ancestors of Americans emigrated from many parts of the world. Throughout its history, America has served as the destination point for a steady flow of immigrants. Much of America’s immigration history is being displayed at the museum which is a good reminder of the construction and characteristic of American society.While walking along the street in any American city, many different faces can be seen. There are oriental faces, black faces, and white faces. These are the faces of the United States, a country of immigrants from all over the word. These people came to the United States in seek for a better life. They hold strong belief in the “American dream”. Fundamentally, it is about hope and the potential for change. And the dream is attainable for all that are ready to work hard on this idealistic goal of the immigrants. There are outstanding representatives of the immigrants that give proof to the possibility of succeeding in America despite race, color, and religion. Perhaps that’s why so many people are driven to this land- arrive with the belief that opportunities for a good life will be available here. As those immigrants blend a solid foundation for the formation and development of the main stream of American culture, they progressively become indispensable in the American world.Considering the American immigration, the statue of liberty plays a vital part in the American culture. On a cold winter morning people were lying on the deck of a huge passenger liner. The misty fog was thick and all sound was still on board. In this play she was portrayed as an angel and she satisfied all the men's imagination of appearance and characteristics of a male. Moreover, she was also a little rebellious and smart. She replied to her brother with irony and wit as he left for Paris,in addition,when facing her father's restraint of her love to Hamlet,she complied in appearance but opposed in actions. As the play progressed, she was abandoned and killed at end.A widow should be a widow and should never remarry from the male's perspective.There were numerous critics on Gertrude in the play and that she was doomed to be a tragedy.Gertrude and Ophelia were the victims and sacrifices of that society. Although both of them had noble families, nothing had changed.3. Penelope complex in this playPenelope Complex derived from the Greek Myths and Legends.In the story there was a man named Ulises who did not return home for ten years,but his wife kept her chastity and waited for him lonely and faithfully. And the Renelope Complex in this play meant the male's expected value of the female's chastity.3.1 The stronge sense of chastityIn the sixteenth century and seventeenth century,conservatism waswidely spread in England. Christian asceticism tightly limited women's ideas and behaviours and they were required to be flawless and pure.What's worse,he male also used Christian asceticism and their patriarchal customs to restrict the needs and meanings of life of the male to satisfy their ego inflation.In the play, Laertes, brother of Ophelia,warned his sister to behave finely before his journey.He told Ophelia:"The chariest maid is prodigal enough if she unmasks her beauty to the moon." We can read in between the lines that he means that if a young woman leaves her house and walks on the street,she is immoral and ungracious.In his eyes,there was nothing more important than charity when it came to a girl. And the other woman,Gertrude,she was often shamed by Hamlet's tongue-lashing for her remarriage.Hamlet always raised his father's world to a a position of hyperiedality by degrading his mother and her world to the status of garbage.Although mother,she was a worthless and shameless witch. In this play,the author reflects the male's strange sense of chastity of the female by Hamlet's rage towards his mother.The rage was so powerful that it made him wish Gertrude were not his mother,so powerful that if momentarily desired to kill her and even led to his repudiation of all the female.3.2 The irrational death of Ophelia and GertrudeIn china's ancient days,dying for love was considered as the mostfaithful symbol of one's departed lover,and this also happened in western countries in the past.In this play,the death of Ophelia and Gertrude,to some degree,was a kind of dying for love,too.3.2.1 Absurd arrangement of poisonous wineThe new king ascendened the throne for a very short time,and he did not win all the supporters in Denmark until then. In addition,in the play,the prince he wanted to murder was the direct successor to the throne.And at this time if he murdered him ,he would backfire, for that the murder must lead to national chaos and suspicion and threaten his throne. In fact,in this play he was a shrewd person,so he would not kill Hamlet with poison in front of a lot of people.Therefore,the arrangement of poisonous wine was absurd and the plot of death of the queen was irrational,too.3.2.2 The unreasonable death of OpheliaAfter reading this novel,we could find that Ophelia was a rather rational and sober person. When she faced with his brother's remarks of charisty, at the begining she pretend to accept Laertes's warning but she then switched the focus to his brother in a flash. Her sharp and smart reply silenced her brother and let him realize one rule --"do as you would be done by". And in Act 3,Scene 2,when Hamlet lay on her lap and tried to embarrass her,she coped with it in calm and unconsciousness.From this we knew that Ophelia was a rather smart girl,so it was not reasonable forher insanity. If we supposed she was insane,in Act1,Scene5, after Ophelia was mad,the king ordered his attendants to follow her to restrict her from speaking something wrong. Actually,this supervision became a protection to some degree.Generally speaking,the time from her drowning into the brook to death was long enough for the attendants to rescue her. To our surprise,they did not. How couid they just stand by and did nothing to her danger?This plot did not comply with common sense.From the irrational death of the two women,we can be sure that their deathes are malicious and planned by the author for meeting the patriarchal requirement,not for the play's going.The male were men's personal property, so they must die without their lover,no matter before or after their lover's death.4.The imagery and associative meaning of the female in this playIn the early modern Britain ,the patriarchal culture was so ingrained that the things which were relevant to the female were branded with derogatory meaning and people always expressed derogatory meaning in the name of women.For example,in this play,Hamlet said:"Frailty,thy(you) name is woman."In the Act 2,Scene 2,when Hamlet talked about the unexpected fate with his friends,he compared it to strumpet and used a word "private" to shame his friends' betrayal(his friends were soldiers). At this point,theauthor used a figure of writing --"pun".One meant the "soldier",the other was the "private part" of women. In the same scene,when the king felt a little guilty he said:"The harlot's cheek,beautied with plastering art,is not more ugly to the thing that helps it than is my deed to my most pained word." The premise of his words is that the cheek of the harlot is very ugly.5. The tragedy of female in this playIn the sixteenth-century and seventeenth-century of Britain,the influence of renaissance did not improve the status of women,their situation was deeply sexist.They totally depended on men, and were like the byproduct of them--namely, women were fed and cared for if they were in their proper place,but were left homeless and destitute if they were not.5.1.Female, being subject to the male ruleIn the patriarchal society,the patriarchal software was installed both in the brain of male and ly,the female lacked subjectivity by definition and there is a refusal to permit a woman to be a SUBJECT,cannot be the grammatical subject of a long list of verbs and predicates.A woman is,and can only be, a subject in the sense of being subject to the man rule.In brief,a vertical binary:Strong,rational,educated,independent,public-sphere men on top(i.e., SUBJECTS)Weak,frail,impatient,feeble,foolish,fickle women on the bottom(i.e. subjects)The male became the pronoun of derogatory things.5.2 The social status rank1. god and angels2, men3. good women (good mothers in Catholic, and good wives inProtestant Patriarchies)4. Bad women (shrews,whores,ect.)In this four level universe,we can know the social status rank in that era and two kinds of women rank at the third and forth place. Needless to say,no woman in this system can ever get to the upper half.In this play,Ophelia and Gertrude had something in common. They were women and all had the respected status;they all did something wrong according to patriarchal law or morals;they all had bad-endings.Because of the male's self-ego,Ophelia was abandoned and Gerrtrude was remarried as a politic counter.They also suffered from male's abuse and tongue-lashing.Gertrude and Ophelia are the two typical kinds of female,the married and the unmarried.They do not have the common rights as the female today and they are required to behave strictly according to the patriarchal laws and morals.The female who have got married must be loyal to her husband and never remarry even when they lose her husband for the remarriage will grace and blush of modesty, and calls virtue hypocrite.And the unmarried ones,should be act finely and dutifully.Once they do anything in any way other than by faithfully according to the rank and it will instantly make her a criminal. They have no reputation,no freedom,no power and even lose themselves,and both die between the conflicts and conspiracy.We can tell from their irrational death that their death is made by Shakespear to meet the needs of that society not for the compliance with the play going or adding tragic color.Only he writes in that way,can he win the most supporters of that society.In fact,it also proves the author's patriarchal sentiment--women cannot live without men. As the female in a patriarchal society,the tragedy is inevitable and doomed.6. ConclusionThe later sixteenth-century and the early eventeenth-century, England is the patriarchal society. Although the female are under the influence of renaissance,they still live a miserable and unjust life for theirgender. Reading Hamlet can contribute to a better understanding of the tragedy of female under the seemingly smooth appearance and a better understanding of the patriarchal culture in the early modern England.7.
