No load losses include coreloss、dielectric loss、 Conductor loss in the winding due to excitation current and conductor loss due to circulating current in parallel windings these losses change with the excitation current.H.V D.C convert transformer used for power transmission: Convert transformer is one of the very important equipments in H.V.D.C power transmission system, it can be used for interconnection between non-synchronous A.C networks and the delivery of power can be controlled . the converter transformer is high in reliability、 Low in losses、small in noise、 low in temperature rise and small in partial discharge . the 800KV convert transformer, developed and manufactured by TBEA for Yun Nan-Guang Dong 800KV extra H.V D.C power transmission project, has passed all of the routine and type tests successfully in August,2009. the 800KV extra H.V D.C power transmission project is the first line in the world until now and it is very important for further development in this fieldWinding assembly:Winding shall be installed to core limbs with integral assembly, and ensured its lightness. Winding and winding assembly shall be subject to constant pressure drying, to enhance its short circuit withstand capacity. High intensity of padding blockshall be provided to suffer drying several times and in order to enhance insulation electric and mechanic intension, active part shall be not allowed to be exposed outside for much time. Oil tank structure:Oil tank shall be bell type, which is better than conventional type in mechanical intension and seal. Abundant of magnetic shielding and copper shielding shall be installed on oil tank wlll and edge to prevent it from local heating and reduce stray loss. Only one point of magnetic shielding shall be grounded. Oil tank shall be subject to vacuum (residual pressure inside the tank < 13.3 Pa) and 0.098 Pa positive pressure after fabrication. In order to prevent oil leakage, flange shall have mechanical (machined) faces and be assembled with sealing stop match which ensures its sealing of transformer.Structure of insulation:Main insulation between windings shall be of structure with thin paper cylinder, small oil gap. More attention shall be paid to insulation level of the centre of winding. Accuracy electric field distribution and compositive electric field intensity shall be calculated by computation process. Insulation structure can be adjusted, and leads shielding shall be arranged according to the principal of equip-field intensity,to keep electric field distribution uniform and ensure insulation reliability.。

它使得在经济的发电机所产生电能并以最经历的传输电压传输电能,同时对于特定的使用者合适的电压使用电能成为可能。
变压器同样广泛的应用于低功率低电流的电子电路和控制电路中,来执行像匹配电源组抗和负载以求得最大的传输效率。
隔离一个电路与另一个电路在两个电路之间隔离直流电而保证交流电继续通道的功能。
在本质上,变压器是一个由两个或多个绕组通过相互的磁通耦合而组成的,如果这其中的一个绕组,原边连接到交流电压源将产生交流磁通它的幅值决定于原边的电压所提供的电压频率及匝数。
感应磁通将与其他绕组交链,在副边中将感应出一个电压其幅值将取决于副边的匝数及感应磁通量和频率。
通过使原副边匝数比例适应,任何所期望的电压比例或转换比例都可以得到。
变压器工作的本质仅要求存在与两个绕组相交链的时变的感应磁通。

Toshiba has successively renewed its records on unit capacity such as 200MVA in 1958, 300MVA in 1960, 430MVA in 1963, 680MVA in 1967, 1100MVA in 1973, 1200MVA in 1977. In 1985 we manufactured a world-record product of 60Hz, 515kV, 1260MVA delivered to Tsuruga 2nd Nuclear Power Station, Japan Atomic Power Co., Japan.While substation transformers are mostly equipped with on-load tap changers, based on technical know-how under license of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH, Germany, Toshiba developed a resistance-type on-load tap changer, which was promptly standardized to ensure high reliability. A large number of transformers providing on-load tap changers up to 800 VIVA are being produced, and many auto-trans-formers up to 765 kV-1650 MVA bank are being manufactured byToshiba.Recently, transformers connected togas-insulated switchgear (GIS) arebeing broadened in application.As to all voltage classes no largerthan 500kV, Toshiba established a GIS connection technique, resulting inthe successful manufacture anddelivery of 500kV, GIS direct-coupledtransformers. Transformers forpumped-storage power stations andunderground substations are subjectto strict restrictions on transportdimensions and weight. Throughadopting an innovative method ofdividing components to facilitatetransportation and assemblytechnique, Toshiba manufactured anddelivered three-section type 275kV,300MVA transformers to undergroundsubstations, 345kV, 300MVAtransformer to pumped-storage powerstation and a nine-section type 500kV,680MVA transformer to anunderground power station, whoseequivalent cannot be seen in any partof the world.By initiating research on 500kVtransformers early in 1955, andthrough exerting efforts subsequentlyseveral times in related research anddevelopment activities,in 1967 Toshiba successfullycompleted and delivered a 500kVtransformer to the B.C. Hydro &Power Authority, Canada. This wasthe first practical model ever built inJapan for an ultra high-voltage powertransformer. Further, in 1971,500/275kV-1000MVA auto-transformer-banks were completed asthe first 500kV transformer product tobe delivered for domestic use. Because of this favorable voltage distribution, the rise of temperature is uniform.Forced-cooling is used on the winding and inside the core, with oil kept circulating through its interior in order to achieve a large cooling effect. Since the windings are effective in voltage distribution, theSlits are provided on core-leg clamping plates and so on, in order to reduce stray loss as a prevention against local overheating. Further more, nonmagnetic steel is used as necessary in large-current bushing pockets and parts, in the vicinity of large-current lead.In a large-capacity, high-impedance transformer, probable leakage flux is calculated by computers on each part so that a magnetic shield, corresponding to the result of each calculation, is provided on the inner surface of the tank and the clamp surface opposite of the coil, to prevent a large amount of leakage flux.used in such openings as manholes and accessory mounting parts.The tank is of all-welded construction in which there is no possibility of oil leakage. Nitrile rubber gaskets, excellent in oil resistance and weather resistance, areadvantage of being a built-in type, it is a standard practice to transport the on-load tap changer as assembled in the main tank.Since the transformer is transported with its core-and-coil assembly kept in the factory-assembled stage, high reliability is maintained and installation in the field is simplified. Further more, by utilizing itsCoreThree-phase transformers usually employ three-leg core. Wheretransformers to be transported by rail are large capacity, five-leg core is used to curtail them to within the height limitation for transport.Even among thermal/nuclear power station transformers, which areusually transported by ship and freed from restrictions on in-land transport, gigantic transformers of the1000MVA class employ five-leg core to prevent leakage flux, minimize vibration, increase tank strength, and effectively use space inside the tank. Regarding single-phasetransformers, two-leg core is well known. Practically, however, three-leg core is used; four-leg core and five-leg core are used in large-capacity transformers. The sectional areas of the yoke and side leg are 50% of that of the main leg; thus, the core height can be reduced to a large extent compared with the two-leg core.For core material, high-grade, grain-oriented silicon steel strip is used.connected by a core leg tie plate; fore and hind clamps by connecting bars. As a result, the core is so constructed that the actual silicon strip is held in a sturdy frameconsisting of clamps and tie plates, which resists both mechanical force during hoisting the core-and-coil assembly and short circuits, keeping the silicon steel strip protected from such force.I n large-capacity transformers, which are likely to invite increased leakage flux, nonmagnetic steel is used or slits are provided in steel members to reduce the width for preventing stray loss from increasing on metal parts used to clamp the core and for preventing local overheat. The core interior isprovided with many cooling oil ducts parallel to the lamination to which a part of the oil flow forced by an oil pump is introduced to achieve forced cooling.When erecting a core afterassembling, a special device shown in Fig. 8 is used so that no strain due to bending or slip is produced on the silicon steel plate.The steel strip surface is subjected to inorganic insulation treatment. All cores employ miter-joint core construction. Yokes are jointed at an angle of 45ー to utilize the magnetic flux directional characteristic of steel strip.A computer-controlled automatic machine cuts grain-oriented silicon steel strip with high accuracy and free of burrs, so that magneticcharacteristics of the grain-oriented silicon steel remains unimpaired. (Fig. 6)Silicon steel strips are stacked in a circle-section. Each core leg is fitted with tie plates on its front and rear side, with resin-impregnated glass tape wound around the outer circumference. Adequate transposition is necessary to equalize the share of current among these parallel conductors.Figure 12 illustrates the transposing procedure for double helical coil. Each conductor is transposed at intervals of a fixed number of turns in the order shown in the figure, and as a result the location of each conductor opposed to the high voltage winding is equalized from the view point of magnetic field between the start and the end of winding turn.Insulation StructureOn parts where the electric field isliable to be concentrated, such asthe winding ends of disk windings,detailed electric field analysis bycomputer determines the optimumshield shape and the insulationdistance so that the surrounding oilis kept free from excessive electricstress (Fig. 13).Further, spaces between windingsclose to a uniform field employ abarrier insulation structure in whichan oil gap is formed by pressboard(Fig. 14), so that partial discharge characteristics and dielectricstrength are improved through anadequate barrier arrangement,resulting in stabilized insulating performance. The windings areclamped according to the followingsteps.When the annular, thick insulatingplate placed on the coil top hasbeen clamped by a hydraulic jack,insulator wedges and blocks areinserted between the insulating plateand the underside of the upper yokeand clamp, so that each coil isclamped uniformly and completely.Regarding pressboard to be usedfor spacers and duct pieces on thecoil, precompressed pressboard isused. Coils maintaining adequateshort-circuit strength for many yearsand free from shrinkage throughaging have been realized throughuniformly, completely clampedconstruction and insulating materialsexcellent in compressivecharacteristics combined withadequate drying.Further, all insulating materials usedfor clamping these coils are oilimpregnable and the optimum typefor applications under high electricfields.The connective parts of coil leadsare likely to invite electric fieldconcentration as a result of theedges of terminals and clampingbolts. To alleviate stressconcerntration, each connection iswound with aluminum-foil-laminatedcrepe paper into a streamlinedshape and completely covered withinsulating paper.Prevention of Internal Partial Dischargeand Insulation TreatmentIn the case of transformers specifiedwith several reduced-insulationlevels, such as EHV or UHVtransformers, the ratio betweentesting voltage and operating voltageis small. To ensure high reliability inextended operation under highvoltage, thorough quality control mustbe effected to prevent dangerouspartial discharge. Main causes ofpartial discharge include:● Incompletely dried insulations● Voids in insulations● Electrically floating metals andincomplete contact under electricfield of high intensity● Edged electrodes● Concentrated electric stress appliedto oil gap● Intermixed foreign matter or dustTo eliminate these causes, thefollowing measures are taken in theprocess of design and manufacture;to confirm reliability, a partialdischarge test is conducted at thefinal stage.Drying/Oil Filling TreatmentI n the core-type transformer, thecore-and-coil assembly isindependent of the tank, so that theassembly is allowed to completelydry. When drying the core-and-coilassembly, Toshiba's innovative vaporphase drying method is used, inwhich special oil vapor is sprayed onthe assembly to utilize latent heatproduced when the oil vaporcondenses.Since heating is effected deep insideevenly and quickly, the assembly canbe completely driedwithout causing damage to theinsulations.Upon completion of drying, the coil isclamped in a low-humidity roomadjusted to 5% or below relativehumidity to prevent any reabsorptionof humidity (Fig. 17).When a core-and-coil assembly hasbeen installed in a tank, the tank isevacuated to a high vacuum state toremove reabsorbed humidity on theinsulations surface and voids inimpregnated insulation; thendeaerated oil is filled under the highvacuum.Upon completion of a factory test, thetransformer is transported to the site(with its accessories disassembledand packed as required) forinstallation and assembly.Duringinstallation and assembly at site,adequate care is taken to dehydrationand the prevention of waterabsorption as in the case of factoryRemoving VoidsVoids in impregnated insulation suchas paper and pressboard can becompletely removed by oil fillingunder a vacuum. Depending on theglue material and the using method,there is a possibility of creating voidsinside. Thus, oil-impregnable glue isused and due care is exercised toavoid using excessive glue.Electric Field ControlInsulation between high- and lowvoltage windings, between windingsand the tank/core, and between coillayers depends mainly on the oilimpregnated paper and oil gaps.Unless voids are created in layers ofinsulation paper, partial dischargeoccurs first on oil gaps. The electrodeshape and insulation dimensionsmust be carefully selected to keep theoil free from excessive stress.The electric field tends to concentrateon the small shaped lead wires fromcoils and lead wire connections,edges of terminals and clampingbolts,and metal structures such ascores, clamps, and the tank which arefacing these high-voltage electrodes.As to parts liable to invite electric fieldconcentration, detailed electric fieldanalysis is conductedby computer to determine theoptimum electrode shape, insulationconstruction, and insulationdimensions to ensure careful controlof the electric field.Dust ControlThe penetration of all sorts of dustand foreign matter, as well as metallicparticles, is unfavorable totransformers; such matter incurspartial discharge. For large-capacity transformers, itbecomes very important from thestandpoint of improved reliability tothoroughly comprehend leakage flux andto take measures to minimize stray loss.At Toshiba, careful measures againstleakage flux are taken on the basis of theresults of computer-aided analysis onleakage flux distribution and eddy currentloss on each part of the transformer, fullyutilizing our rich experience in producing ahuge number of large-capacitytransformers.As to eddy current loss in coil conductors,the loss of each coil part is determinedfrom leakage flux distribution. Transposedcable and various types of transpositionare applied in accordance with results ofthe above-mentioned loss analysis toprevent local overheat from being causedby excessive loss.Generally made of mild steel, tanks andother structural members are high inpermeability and liable to invite leakageflux concentration.Thus, the tank inner surface is providedwith a shield made of conductor platesuch as aluminum or a laminated shieldmade of silicon steel strips to preventleakage flux from penetrating the tank,thus reducing a large eddy current losscreated on steel members.As to other structural members, efforts areexerted to prevent local overheat orexcessive deterioration of adjacentinsulation from being caused by eddycurrent loss, while employingnonmagnetic materials in accordance withleakage flux on each part, providing slitsin steel members to narrow the width asdescribed in the section on "Core " andadopting other measures appropriate forrespective parts.Fig.19 Example of Leakage Flux Distribution Analysis by a Computer12TankThe tank is manufactured byforming and welding steel plate to be used as a container for holding the core and coil assembly together with insulating oil. The Toshiba transformer tank offers the following features:● Subjected to automatic beam welding machine (Fig. 20) and other special facilities, the tank possesses high quality and strength.● Transformers to be transported by ship are structured in a semioval shape on both ends of the tank and provided with reinforcement members rationally arranged,resulting in increased strength and decreased weight.● The tank bottom is fitted with a skid base by welding and provided with pull lugs to facilitate rolling in the longitudinal and transverse directions.● Capable of withstanding a high vacuum of 0.1 torr or below, the tank can be filled with oil under a vacuum; to thoroughly remove gases and moisture from the insulation.● The tank is of completely enclosed,welded construction.Oilproof nitrile rubber gaskets are used on those parts which must be removed from the standpoint of assembly in the field or during maintenance; flanges thereon are provided with accurately machined grooves or gasket retainers to ensure proper tightening ofgaskets. Consequently, there is no possibility of oil leakage over an extended period (Fig. 21, 22). ● The tank internal surface and the metallic part of the core-and-coil assembly are coated with white paint to help observe dust accumulation.Fig.20Automatic beam welding machine13Cooling SystemPanel type radiators are mounted on the tank.Since any cooling fans and oil pumps are not used, this type is widely applied owing to its facilitated maintenance, Panel type radiators have features of decreasing oil volume and withstanding a vacuum (Fig. 23).Self-cooled Type Cooling fans are installed on theradiators to increase the cooling effect. Usually, the cooling fans will be put into service when natural cooling becomes inadequate to maintain the oil and/or windingtemperature within the specified limit under a heavy load (Fig. 24).This is a system in which unitcoolers, each consisting of a cooling tube, fan, oil-submerged pump, and oil flow indicator assembled as a unit, are arranged around the tank in the necessary amount. Steel pipe fitted with fins and dipped in zinc, with an excellent corrosionproof characteristics, is adopted as cooling pipe.In the tank cooled oil is delivered to the windings and ducts on the core, so that each part is cooled uniformly and effectively (Fig. 25).In some cases, a cooling device consisting of a combination of oil-submerged pumps and radiators with cooling fans is used as a cooling device for multirating of a forced-oil, forced-aircooled/forced-aircooled/self-cooled transformer (Fig. 26).In case that a large amount of cooling air is unavailable such as in underground substations, water cooled type is applied. This is most suitable for high-voltage, large-capacity transformers (Fig. 28).Since air in the air cell is connected to the open atmosphere through a dehydrating breather, the air cell shape variesaccording to expansion and contraction of the oil, keeping pressure in the air cell at the atmospheric pressure.Diaphragm-type oil preservation system Type OH-D offers the following features: • Oil can be filled into the transformer tank without being exposed to the air. • Since insulating oil is completelyisolated from the atmosphere by an air cell, there is no possibility of oxygen or moisture penetrating the oil.• Pressure on the surface of the oil is constantly maintained at theatmospheric pressure, offering no possibility of the oil becomingsupersaturated and forming bubbles; thus, high dielectric strength can be maintained.• No need to refill nitrogen gas or measure the gas purity simplifies maintenance.• No need of attachments to beseparately installed results in less floor area.• The air cell is made of nitrile rubber reinforced with nylon cloth, ensuring splendid oil-proofing and high strength.Dehydrating Breather (Types FG, FP, FS)Air in the air cell of conservator Type OH-D is exposed to the openatmosphere through a dehydrating breather to prevent dew condensation. Regarding moisture absorbent, agranular type free from deliquescence is used.To display the extent of moistureabsorption of the moistureabsorbent, it is also mixed the kind of moisture absorbent which is blue color under a dry state and changes to pink as moisture absorptionprogresses. When no breathing is conducted, the breather is isolated from the open air by oil to prevent the moisture absorbent from needlessly absorbing moisture (Fig. 30).Fig.28 Construction of Oil Preservation System Type OH-DFig.29 Oil Preservation System Type OH-DFig.30 Dehydrating Breather16Dial Oil Level IndicatorFor indicating on the dial a change of oil in the conservator, the indicator is tilted downward to permit easy supervision of the oil level even if it is installed at a high level. Any change in the oil level is detected by a float, converted into rotary motion by a gear, andtransmitted to the external pointer through a magnet. The float side is completely isolated from the pointer side by a partition through which the rotary shaft does not pass,preventing oil leakage. The pointer side is of airtight construction with moisture absorbent contained therein to prevent the glass inner side from clouding (Fig. 31).Protective RelaysThe following protective devices are used so that, upon a faultdevelopment inside a transformer, an alarm is set off or thetransformer is disconnected from the circuit. In the event of a fault, oil or insulations decomposes by heat, producing gas or developing an impulse oil flow. To detect these phenomena, a Buchholtz relay is installed.Buchholtz RelayThe Buchholtz relay is installed at the middle of the connection pipe between the transformer tank and the conservator. There are a 1st stage contact and a 2nd stage contact as shown in Fig. 32. The 1st stage contact is used to detect minor faults. When gasproduced in the tank due to a minor fault surfaces to accumulate in the relay chamber within a certainamount (0.3Q-0.35Q) or above, the float lowers and closes the contact, thereby actuating the alarm device. The 2nd stage contact is used to detect major faults. In the event of a major fault, abrupt gas production causes pressure in the tank to flow oil into the conservator.
