There are these little streams and canals that run through the streets, and they're so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom. Some of the streams even have little bridges over them, which makes it feel like you're in a storybook! But Lijiang isn't just about the buildings and streets. It's also home to the Naxi people, who are an ethnic minority group with their own language, customs, and traditions. It's like something out of a fairy tale! The layout of the town is also really cool. It's built in a maze-like pattern, with narrow alleys and canals weaving through the buildings. You never know what you'll find around the next corner – maybe a quaint little courtyard, a bubbling fountain, or a bustling market selling all sorts of interesting things.Speaking of markets, Lijiang is famous for its vibrant Naxi minority culture. The Naxi people have lived in this region for centuries, and their traditions are deeply woven into the fabric of the town. It's so peaceful and serene, like being transported to another world. But Lijiang isn't just about the town itself. The surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking. Last summer, my family took an awesome trip to Lijiang Ancient Town in China's Yunnan province. Let me tell you all about this super cool place!Lijiang is known as the "Venice of the East" because it's crisscrossed with little streams and stone bridges. The town is nestled in a valley surrounded by snowy mountain peaks. As we entered the old town area, it felt like we had traveled back hundreds of years! The streets are made of thick stone slabs and the buildings have these amazing wooden frames with grey brick or dirt walls. The architecture is so unique - it's called the Dayan style. Some of the homes and shops are built right over the streams, with little bridges connecting them. How cool is that?My favorite part was wandering around and peeking into the lively courtyards. They had potted plants, pagodas, and beautifulcarvings everywhere. I saw old ladies sitting outside making handicrafts to sell at the market. Men played games of Chinese chess and drank tea. Chickens and dogs roamed around freely. It was like a living museum!Speaking of markets, the ones in Lijiang were awesome! There were stalls selling all kinds of stuff - embroidered bags, woven baskets, jewelry made from jade and silver, wood carvings, herbs and spices, and delicious local snacks. I tried yak butter tea, fried cheese, and baba - little fried bread balls covered in brown sugar. So yummy! We stayed at this cool old inn with an interior courtyard filled with potted flowering plants and a big goldfish pond. Our room had exposed wooden beams and beautifully carved window frames. At night, glowing lanterns lit up the inn's little alleyways. It felt like being transported to another era.One morning, we hiked up the trails to the Black Dragon Pool Park to see the famous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The views were breathtaking! The bright blue ponds reflecting the snow-capped peaks made me feel so tiny in comparison to those giant mountains. For an extra dose of culture, we visited the Mu Palace, an amazing complex of buildings and gardens that used to belongto the Mu clan, who ruled Lijiang for over 500 years. Everything was intricately carved and painted in vibrant colors. There were rooms for studying, rooms just for appreciating the moon, theater rooms, and more. It showed how sophisticated and advanced the Naxi people were.We also caught a Naxi music and dance show one evening. The performers wore such bright, beautiful costumes covered in elaborate embroidery, shells, and jewelry. They played traditional instruments like pipes and lutes. The dances told stories about Naxi legends and daily life. It was mesmerizing to watch! My trip to Lijiang felt like being transported to a magical, timeless world. My name is Emma and I'm going to tell you all about this super cool old town I visited called Lijiang Ancient Town. It's located way up in the mountains of Yunnan Province in southwestern China. Just wait until you hear how amazing it is!First of all, Lijiang Ancient Town is really, really old. Like, ancient! It was first built during the Song Dynasty, which was over 800 years ago in the year 1109! Can you imagine how old that is? The town has been around for longer than most countries have even existed. The buildings, streets, and bridges are all made of wood, stone, and brick in the traditional Naxiarchitectural style. Walking through the town is like stepping back in time to the Middle Ages.Even though the town is so old, it still looks amazing thanks to the hard work of the locals who live there. The whole town is surrounded by an 8-meter high ancient wall with four big gates. Inside the walls, the little alleys are paved with blueish bricks and the houses have curved roof tiles and intricate wood carvings. It's all built right into the side of a huge mountain too! There are three rivers running through the middle with adorable little bridges going across. My favorite was the Single Plank Bridge which is just a single wooden plank spanning one of the rivers. I was too scared to walk across it myself!Lijiang Ancient Town is most famous for its waterways and bridges though. Did you know there are over 350 bridges inside the town?? They come in all different shapes and sizes - arched bridges, zigzag bridges, bridges with pavilions in the middle. The most iconic one is definitely the Mufu Palace Bridge which has 5 pavilions and looks like something out of a fairytale. I could have spent hours just wandering around looking at all the cool bridges!Another amazing thing about Lijiang is the traditional Naxi culture that is still preserved there. The Naxi people are an ethnicminority group who have lived in the area for centuries. They have their own language, customs, music, and even their own unique pictographic writing system. A lot of the old courtyard houses and buildings were built in the Naxi architectural style with awesome wood carvings and painted decorations. I got to see women in traditional Naxi dress singing folk songs too. My favorite was their ancient Dongba hieroglyphic writing which kind of looks like ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. So cool! While we were exploring, we came across tons of fun stuff to do and see around every corner. There were all kinds of little shops and stalls selling yummy local snacks like fried cheese, roasted sweet potatoes, and sugary fried doughnuts. We stopped for a delicious Naxi hotpot lunch at a centuries-old courtyard restaurant. I even got my name written in the Dongba script as a souvenir! We watched artisans hand-making things like embroidery, pottery, and tie-dyed clothes. The most fun was getting dressed up in Naxi costumes to take silly photos. But one of the coolest experiences was watching the traditional Naxi ancient music and dance performances. The performers played these weird instruments I had never seen before like bawu flutes and hulusheng mouth organs. The dances told stories from Naxi legends and folklore with ornatecostumes, masks, and choreography. My favorite was probably the Bonfire Dance where they did acrobatics and danced around a huge bonfire. The costumes with bells and masks looked so mystical in the firelight.Lijiang Ancient Town was just such a unique, magical place. It was like being transported to a whole different world and era. Even though parts were touristy, you could still feel and see the deep history and culture around every corner. The Naxi people have managed to preserve their traditions for centuries in that little mountain town. I feel so lucky I got to experience and learn about such an ancient and special place. I'll never forget the sights, sounds, and smells of wonderful Lijiang!篇6Lijiang Ancient Town - A Magical Place Frozen in TimeHi everyone! I'm so excited to tell you all about the amazing Lijiang Ancient Town that I visited during my summer vacation. It's this super old and well-preserved town located in Yunnan Province, in the southwest part of China. Getting to go there was seriously like stepping into a real-life fairy tale! The town is completely surrounded by breathtaking mountains that seem to rise up towards the sky forever. Thereare rushing streams and little bridges crisscrossing through the town too. Everything inside the ancient walls looks just like it did hundreds of years ago when it was first built. I felt like I had traveled back in time! The buildings are all made of wood andstone, with those classic curved roof tiles you see in all the pictures of old Chinese architecture. The streets are narrow and windy, lined with shops, restaurants, and inns. Vendors call out to you trying to sell delicious street food and fun souvenirs. It's crowded with people, but in a good way that makes it feel lively and exciting. My favorite part was all the intricate carvings you see everywhere you look. The doors, windows, pillars - they're all decorated with the most amazing patterns and pictures. I especially loved seeing the carvings of dragons, phoenixes, flowers and clouds. Our guide told us those symbols have special meanings in Chinese culture going back many centuries. So cool!We stayed in this awesome wooden inn that was built way back in the 1300s during the Ming Dynasty! The rooms had beautiful latticework and calligraphy hangings on the walls. Instead of regular beds, there were these thick, heated mattress pads on wood platforms. Sleeping on those was a little weird at first, but ended up being really comfortable and cozy. For meals, we ate at all these incredible little family-run restaurants and cafes tucked into the side alleys. The local Naxi cuisine was delicious - lots of yak meat, cheeses, smoked fish, and buckwheat dishes. My mouth waters just thinking about the taste! We also went to the night market and snacked on skewers, fried bread, sweet potatoes, and other crazy good street foods. One of the coolest things we did was watch the ancient Naxi orchestra perform. The music sounded so beautiful and hypnotic with all the different woodwinds, strings and percussion. The men wore colorful robes and hats, while the women had on these bright embroidered jackets and long shawls. Their dancing was mesmerizing too!Another day, we hiked up to some incredible sites just outside of town, like the iconic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the Black Dragon Pool. The mountain was breathtaking, with glittering glaciers and jagged snowy peaks. Such an incredible view! The pool had pristine water in the most amazing shade of turquoise from the calcium deposits. Apparently it's been that color for thousands of years. Just unbelievable.Overall, Lijiang was simply magical. It felt like being transported to a long-ago era where life was much simpler, but full of rich cultural traditions. Seeing all the old architecture, tasting the unique cuisine, watching the traditional music and dances - it was an experience I'll never forget. If you ever get the chance to visit, you absolutely have to go! It's like nowhere else on earth.。

The crystal water that flows into the Old town originated from the spring in the Black Dragon Pool. When it reaches the Jade Bridge in front of the main entrance of the Old town, it splits into three different streams: the western, middle and eastern stream. These three streams of water are then further divided into other smaller streams to provide the Town with water.
