From the table, we can see that people are living longer and longer. The average life expectancy was 35 in 1949 and it has been more than doubled by 2002. There are several reasons which can account for the rises. First of all, better diet helps people to live longer. With the development of economy, people are getting richer, which enables them not just to have enough food to live on but to choose what does good to their health. Besides, people’s awareness of the importance of doing exercise keeps people healthy and strong, which leads to longer life span. We often see people, old or young, taking part in activities such as Taiji, Fan Dance and jogging. In addition to health food and exercise, the development of medical science also contributes a lot to people’s longer life. It is reported many times that diseases which were fatal in the past can be cured without any difficulties. To sum up, with better diet, growing awareness of the importance of doing exercise and advanced medical treatment, no one can deny the fact that people’s life expectancy is sure to continue to rise in the future.
