依照该方式，定语从句被归为6类:(1)间位型定语从句 ;(2)后位型定语从句; (3)分离型定语从句;(4)省略型定语从句;(5)总括型定语从句;(6)前位型定语从句分类二是孙丽娟在《科技英语中定语从句的分类及其译法》(2007)一文中提出的另一种分类方式，她将定语从句归为以下4类:(1)限制性定语从句(2)非限制性定语从句(3)分隔定语从句(4)特种定语从句二(科技英语中定语从句汉译的方法根据当前国内的研究，科技英语中定语从句的汉译方法有以下几种: 1.合译法合译法可进一步细分，具体又有以下3种更为细致的方法:1.1译成带“的”的定语孙丽娟在《科技英语中定语从句的分类及其译法》(2007)，吴臻在《浅谈科技英语定语从句的翻译》(2006)一文中及张景丰在《论科技英语中定语从句的翻译》(2008)中均提到，针对内容简短并且与先行词关系密切的定语从句可将其翻译成带“的”的定语。
1.2译成谓语张景丰在《论科技英语中定语从句的翻译》(2008)中指出，当定语从句是整个句子的侧重点时，可将英语的主句压缩成汉语词组作为主语,而把定语从句译成汉语的谓语结构。

4.转换法为了使译文通顺达意, 郭燕、刘金龙等均认为遇到机械地一一对应翻译行不通时，译者必须发挥译语的优势, 对句子成分进行创造性地转译。
纵观当前的研究，所达到的成果尚不令人满意。
目前来说，科技英语中定语从句的汉译方法有较为细致的方面，但也存在相对笼统的情况。
