Objective: make Ss understand the definition of and roles of beneficiary’s certificate.

Steps:

1. Definition and roles

Beneficiary’s certificate/Statement/Declaration is a document issued by the beneficiary of the credit to certify that he has already fulfilled certain duty according to the credit requirement.

2. Forms

Two kinds of beneficiary’s certificate are generally adopted.

1. beneficiary’s certificate for dispatch documents

2. copy of cable/telex/fax

Step 2Contents

Objective: make Ss master main points in making out Beneficiary’s certificate.

Steps:

There are seven main points in making out Beneficiary’s certificate as follows:

1) Issuer (证明人)

It should be the beneficiary of the L/C.

2) Name of certificate(证明标题)

It should be the same as that in the L/C. Usual names include such words as “Beneficiary’s Certificate”, “Beneficiary’s Declaration” “Beneficiary’s

Statement”.

3) To（抬头人）

It can be the general name, i.e. “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN”

4) Date(出单日期)

It can be the same as that in the invoice. When the contents certified are

related to shipment or the shipping advice, issuing date shall be stipulated accordingly.

5) Number of L/C，Number of invoice， Number of sales contract （信用 证，发票和合同号码）

Unless otherwise stipulated, beneficiary’s certificate should have the number of credit and contract. Some exporters like to put number of invoice on it.

6) Certification/statement (证明文句)

Such sentences should comply with the stipulation in the credit. If L/C states “Beneficiary’s Certificate certifying they have…”, in Beneficiary’s Certificate “we hereby certify that we have…” should be used.

7) Signature of issuer (出单人签章)

It should be the company name of the exporter and the signature of the person in charge.

Step 3 Some useful expressions in beneficiary’s certificate. Objective:

1. Make Ss be familiar with some statements in beneficiary’s certificate.

2. Let Ss be familiar with some terms of beneficiary’s certificate in the L/C

We hereby certify that one set of shipping documents has been faxed to applicant within 1 day after shipment.

兹证明一套装运单据已于装运后 1天内传真给开证申请人。

We hereby certify that: 我们特此特证明：

1. All drums are neutral packing. 所有圆桶均为中性包装。

2. No Chinese words or any hints to show the products are made in China.

无任何中国字或迹象表明此产品产于中国。

3. No any printing materials are allowed to fill in drums.

圆桶上没有任何印刷资料。
