高中英语Unit1Thewrittenword专项测试同步训练2020.031,Rather than _____ money by dishonest means, I would remain poor.A. getB. gettingC. to getD. got2, The passage comes from a novel called " The Chrysalides" by John Wyndham. In this novel, the storyteller is a boy named David. When I was quite young I sometimes dreamt about a city. It was odd, because the dream began before I even knew what a city was. But I could see this city, by a big bay, with boats on the water and houses all around. Sometimes I saw silver things flying in the sky. It was a pretty place.Once I asked my sister, Mary, where the city was. She told me that there was no such place. She said that long ago there might have been a city like that, but not now. Then she told me not to talk about the dream to anyone.Mary did not want me to talk about anything that might make people think I was different, from them. Where we lived, people were always looking out for odd things. They even thought it was strange that I was left - handed. So I did not talk about my dream to anyone, and as I got older I did not have it so often. And I never told anyone that I could talk to my cousin Rosalindwithout seeing her. I wasn't sure if talking like that was odd. After some tie I thought perhaps I was just like everyone else. Until the day I met Sophie. One day I had gone off by myself, as I often did. I went down a cart-track from our farm until I came to a high ridge. This ridge was very long, and ran all the way round the land, as far as you could see. I had often gone along the top of it, but I hadn’t been down the other side. Somehow the land on the other side seemed strange, like another country. But today I played a game. The rain had worn away some of the bank on the other side and I could push myself down the path made by the rain. I did this twice, rushing down the ridge and landing in the soft sand at the bottom. The third time I landed, a voice said, " Hello" .1. 高中英语 Unit 1 The written word Section Ⅰ Welcome to

Section Ⅰ Welcome to the unit & Reading—Warming UpA卷Ⅰ阅读理解AAustralian English began separating from British English shortly after the foundation of the Australian penal colony(罪犯流放地) of New South Wales in 1788. British convicts sent there, including cockneys(伦敦东区的人) from London, came mostly from large English cities. They were joined by free settlers, military personnel and officials, often with their families. However, many of the convicts were Irish, with at least 25% directly from Ireland, and others indirectly via Britain. There were other populations of convicts from nonEnglish speaking areas of Britain, such as the Welsh and Scots. The transportation of convicts to Australia ended in 1868, but immigration of free settlers from Britain, Ireland and elsewhere continued. The earliest form of Australian English was first spoken by the children of the colonists born into the colony of New South Wales. This very first generation of children created a new dialect that was to become the language of the nation. The Australianborn children in the new colony were exposed to a wide range of different dialects from all over the British Isles, in particular from Ireland and the southeastern part of England. The nativeborn children of the colony created the new dialect from factors present in the speech they heard around them, and provided a way for the expression of peer solidarity(一致). Even when new settlers arrived, this new dialect was strong enough to turn away from the influence of other patterns of speech.Records from the early 19th century indicated the distinctive dialect had appeared in the colony since the first settlement. In 1827 Peter Cunningham, in his book TwoYearsinNewSouthWales, described that the nativeborn colonists spoke with a distinctive accent and vocabulary, with a strong London influence.Anthony Burgesswrote that “Australian English may be thought of as a kind of fossilised(僵化的) cockney(伦敦腔) of the Dickensian era〞.【解题导语】本文是一篇说明文。

B(2019·广西三市联考)It is that time of year when people need to lock their cars. It's not because there are a lot of criminals running around stealing cars. Rather, it's because of the goodhearted neighbors who want to share their harvest. Especially with this year's large crop, leaving a car unlocked in my neighborhood is an invitation for someone to stuff it full of zucchini (密生西葫芦).My sisterinlaw, Sharon, recently had a good year for tomatoes. She and her family had eaten and canned so many that they began to feel their skin turn slightly red. That's when she decided it was time to share her blessings. She started calling everyone she knew. When that failed, she began to ask everyone in the neighborhood like a politician, eventually finding a neighbor delighted to have the tomatoes. “Feel free to take whatever you want,” Sharon told her. She felt happy that she could help someone and that the food didn't go to waste.A few days later, Sharon answered the door. There was the neighbor, holding some bread. The neighbor smiled pleasantly, “I want to thank you for all of the tomatoes, and I have to admit that I took a few other t hings and hope you wouldn't mind.”Sharon couldn't think of anything else in her garden that had been worth harvesting and said so. “Oh, but you did,” the neighbor said. “You had some of the prettiest zucchini I've ever seen.”Sharon was confused. Zucchini in her garden? They hadn't even planted any zucchini. But her neighbor insisted that there really were brightgreen zucchini in her garden. The two of them walked together into the backyard. When the neighbor pointed at the long green vegetables, Sharon s miled, “Well, actually, those are cucumbers that we never harvested, because they got too big, soft and bitter for eating or canning.”The neighbor looked at Sharon, shock written all over her face. Then she smiled, and held out the bread that she had shar ed all over the neighborhood, “I brought you a loaf of cucumber bread. I hope you like it.”cars?A.They might be stolen by thieves.B.They might be moved away by the police.C.Their neighbors might fill them with their harvest.D.Their neighbors might throw rubbish into them.解析:选 C 细节理解题。
