第三节题组训练 5 说理议论A(2017·和平区一模)William W.Purkey,a well-known professor of education, said,“Dance like no one is watching, love like you’ll never be hurt, sing like no one is listening, and live like it’s heaven on earth.” It seems like the perfect life philos ophy—and one I’ve learned to apply to running over the year. But I didn’t always feel this way.In my early days, when I weighed 240 pounds,I ran like everyone was watching—and judging. If I was on a run and saw a car approaching,I’d stop and pretend I was looking for something I’d lost.I bought the high-tech gear and clothes that I thought would make people believe I was a runner. And I didn’t have a clue if the expensive shoes I was wearing were the right kind for me—I just wanted to look like I fit in with this group. To be honest,I felt a certain satisfaction in believing that someone was watching.I really thought that other people cared about my performance. The best example of this was a combined,two-lap marathon in Florence,Italy. As I approached the finishing line, the crowd began to cheer.I was surprised. Here I was, thousands of miles from home, and the Italians were shouting for “IIPenguino”.About 20 yards from the finishing, the truth set in when the winner of the full marathon went past me as I was finishing the half-marathon.No one was cheering for me.No one probably even noticed that I was finishing.I couldn’t help but smile at my own illusion of self-importance.That’s when I realized I had been running for every reason except the right one.I ran to make other people happy, ran to live up to their expectations. But no one was watching,no one cared. So I decided I was going to run for me—just me—and gained a new enjoyment from the sport I hadn’t truly experienced yet.I’ve learned to run like no one is watching. So if you see me at race, and I look like a 60-year-old guy waddling(蹒跚) along, don’t worry.I’m fine. The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.1.The writer presents the passage by .A.telling his running storyB.explaining a life philosophyC.listing some life rulesD.introducing quotations答案 D解析写作手法题。

You can do anything that you put your mind and your heart to,” she said.Alena is the youngest African American person to get into a US medical school, and the second-youngest person overall.Alena didn’t just wake up one day and decide to go to the medical school while in middle school — she’s a child genius. When Alena turned 12, she graduated from high school and is currently enrolled (注册) in online classes at Arizona State University. If all goes to plan for Alena, she’ll start studying to be a doctor at age 15, in 2024, and graduate when she’s 18 when other kids her age are preparing for their freshmen year at college. They are advertised as a way for adults to finish their education and students to learn the material at their own pace—it is far more suitable for people with busy schedules. But after being enrolled in an online course last fall semester, I came to realize online classes were merely a means to fulfil course requirements.First of all, students lack the desire to learn, and they simply complete their assignments to receive credit for a passing grade rather than genuinely engage with the course material. As online courses tend to have more than 100 students, most of the assignments are short and simple. They are not designed for students to interact with the material in depth but designed to be graded easily to accommodate such a large number of students.Perhaps the biggest disadvantage of taking an online class is the absence of face-to-face interaction between the teacher and their students. Live sessions are infrequent and are often scheduled during the middle of the day when students have to attend other classes or work. The office hours of the professor may also be during inconvenient times for many students as well. Most interaction with the professor has to be through email which is often impersonal. It is nearly impossible for students to build a relationship with their professor. There is also little interaction among students. It can be harder for students to create study groups and form relationships with their peers.Online classes also require either a computer or laptop and a reliable Internet connection. Not all students have access to these types of resources, whether it is for financial or other reasons, and some students can be put at a disadvantage. Offering online classes certainly helps students who would otherwise not be able to attend classroom sessions. However, they fail to provide a true education with an emphasis on convenience rather than critical thinking. We need restructure online classes in which students can have a learning experience that will actually provide quality education.8.What can we infer about students enrolled in online classes?A.They are unmotivated to learn,B.They can access course materials easily.C.They rarely fulfil the course requirements.D.They can learn at their own pace.9.What is the author’s opinion about online course assignments? ‘A.They are meant to facilitate interaction.B.They are made convenient to mark.C.They are given to accommodate students` needs.D.They are based on easily accessible material.10.From the passage, which is one disadvantage of online classes?A.They make professors’ offices much less accessible.B.They are frequently scheduled at irregular times.C.They provide little chance for students to build relationships with each other.D.They tend to increase professors’ burden of replying students’ emails.11.What problem may arise if classes go online?A.Teachers will worry about poor Internet connections.B.Most students may get critical thinking skills from it.C.Schools with limited resources will be at a disadvantage.D.Some students may have difficulty attending them.(2022秋·江苏南通·高三统考期末)DIn the coming era of budget cuts to education, distance learning could become a common thing. The appeal to those in charge of education budgets to trade teachers for technology is so strong that they tend to ignore the disadvantages of distance learning. School facilities are expensive to build and maintain, and teachers are expensive to employ. It’s true that online classes do not require buildings and each class can host hundreds of people, which can result in greater savings, but moving away from a traditional classroom in which a living, breathing human being teaches and interacts with students daily would be a disaster.Physically attending school has hidden benefits: getting up every morning interacting with peers, and building relationships with teachers are important skills to cultivate in young people. Moreover, schools are more than simple places of traditional learning. They are also places that provide meals, places where students receivemental help and other support. Those policy-makers are often fascinated by the latest technology in education and its potential to transform education overnight. But online education does not allow a teacher to keep a struggling student after class and offer help. Educational videos may deliver academic content, but they are unable to make eye contact or assess a student’s level of engagement. Distance education will never match the personal teaching in a traditional classroom. In their first 18 years of life, American children spend only 9% of their time in school. Yet teachers are expected to prepare them to be responsible citizens, cultivate their social skills, encourage successful time management, and enhance their capacity to compete in a competitive job market. Given these expectations, schools should not become permanently “remote”.The power of the classroom is rooted in the qualities of the people gathered in the same place, at the same time, including their nature, empathy, devotion and so on. Technology, no matter how advanced, should simply be a tool of a good teacher.12.What is one possible benefit of students attending school physically?A.Forming the habit of getting up early.B.Eating nutritionally well-balanced meals.C.Growing into living and breathing human beings.D.Developing relationships with peers and teachers.13.What does the author think of the latest technology in education?A.It may reduce face-to-face interaction.B.It may make many teachers jobless.C.It may add to student’s financial burden.D.It may revolutionize classroom teaching.14.What does the author say teachers are expected to do?A.To enhance student’s leadership capacity.B.To teach students skills in applying for jobs.C.To enable students to adapt to the changes in life.D.To prepare students to be competitive in the future.15.Why couldn’t technology replace a good teacher?A.It lacks humanity.B.It can’t meet personal needs.C.It is still not advanced.D.It can’t track students’ growth.二、七选五(2023·山东枣庄·统考一模)It’s the start of a new academic year. 2018年江苏省高考英语二轮专用题型组合练(8)含解析
题型组合练(八)(对应学生用书第183页)Ⅰ.阅读理解——文化教育(江苏省名校高三入学摸底卷(题型卷))Sarah Lynn,an educational consultant and teacher, thinks English learners can improve their ability to remember and use new words by testing themselves. She adds that selftesting improves retrieval(数据检索)—the ability to use and remember new words. If you are like most learners, you may have faced such a situation: You think you understand a topic.Yet when asked to use what you have learned, you are not able to remember the information. Not being able to retrieve new ideas could happen on a test or even in a conversation.Learning takes effort. It takes effort because the learning process changes the brain, says Sarah Lynn. One way it changes the brain is by creating connections, which are called dendrites(树突).Lynn suggests that dendrite connections are important for retrieval. There are three main ideas about how to grow dendrites and improve retrieval, making connections, using repetition and testing yourself.Lynn is not the only expert who recommends selftesting.A paper in Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition says one benefit of testing practice is that it improves retrieval.Retrieving information once makes retrieving that information easier in the future. In addition, the paper says, when student test themselves as part of studying, they learn what they do not know. When students know what they do not understand, they can pay attention to overcoming their weaknesses.Lynn recommends that learners test themselves by getting away from what they are studying. Then, they should test themselves by thinking about what they have learned. She recommends that learners make themselves write or speak something.Lynn suggests reading something or watching a video on the topic, then getting rid of the reading or audio material and summarizing it.This will allow learners to test what they know. The benefits of such practice,Lynn says, are not just about improving your ability to remember information.By testing yourself, you can build confidence in the skills you have developed. When you test yourself,Lynn says, you will see how muchprogress you have made. This progress will satisfy and encourage you to do more in the future.Next time you are studying English, try to test yourself.A simple way to test vocabulary is to create flashcards with clues on one side and the answer on the back.Another way is to use online services to create digital flashcards, through which learners can do a variety of activities based on one set of new words or information. You can match words with meanings, write a word after looking at a picture,or listen to a word and write it.You can also play games with the new words and meanings.Another way is to ask yourself questions at the end of the day,at the end of a study session,or at other times.Lynn recommends that learners ask themselves questions such as,“What did I learn today? What were those words that I thought were interesting? What was that verb tense I learned? How does it work?”The important point is this:Effective_learning_takes_time,effort_and_practice.Do not just assume that you can read something once or twice and fully understand it.Even if you highlight important points or take notes in a class, you probably do not fully understand what you learned. After all,Olympic athletes cannot learn how to swim or run just from reading a book. They have to practice swimming or running every day for years. They often compete in races to test their skills.Like those athletes, successful language learners practice as much as they can,and test themselves to improve their skills.Selftesting is one way to improve your retrieval and inform your future course of study.Give it a try,and let us know how it works for you.【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。

Some sports are resource-hungry.Golf,as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water.Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses(球场)in good condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example,in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortage in some local areas. There are many environment-friendly sports.Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don't need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes; and you don't have to worry about resources and your purse.Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit.If you walk regularly,it will be good for your heart and bones.Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and have better weight control. Whatever sport you take up,you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms”.They are better replacements(代替物)for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers.Members of green gyms play sports outdoors,in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all,it's free. 【语篇解读】 文章简述了一些对资源耗费较多的运动如高尔夫,也讲述了一些不怎么耗费资源的运动如power walking。文章的主旨就是为了让我们多做绿色运动。 1.Which of the following is the author most probably in favor of? On Thursday night, while Pina was babysitting her granddaughter, nephew and two nieces in her sister's apartment, she smelled smoke and realized the apartment building was on fire. When her 4-year-old granddaughter Ilean Garcia began saying,“We're going to die,”she knew she had to act.Pina,39,first sealed the door, and then told all four children to get on the floor. After calling 911,she told the children to start singing and promised them all treats as soon as they reached safety.“I said,‘OK,we're going to lie down and we're all going to play a game,’”Pina said.“We all started singing our ABCs and 123s.I was just trying to make it fun.”Pina patiently waited, and a few minutes later,Riverside County sheriff's deputies (治安官的助手) arrived.Pina,Ilean,8-year-old Gabriel Parga,5-year-old Aubreyana Parga and 4-year-old Meriyah Parga were all trapped on the second floor as flames filled the first story.Pina did the only thing she could. She opened the window and dropped the children,one-by-one,into the arms of the sheriff's deputies about 15 to 20 feet below.“I just needed to keep the kids calm so they wouldn't be afraid,”Pina said.“I was deathly afraid inside, but I couldn't let them know that.”Not long after dropping the children out of the window,fire-fighters arrived with a ladder and rescued her.Ten people were treated at the scene for suffering smoke, but nobody was seriously injured. 【语篇解读】 本文叙述了主人翁Lisa Pina利用自己在火灾安全培训中学到的知识,在大火中成功营救了多个孩子。 5.What is the passage mainly about?
