A Good Teacher好老师是学生的良师益友,想知道好老师的标准吗?那就读一读下面的文章吧。
A good teacher is a good companion on the journey ofstudents' life and an instructor helping you make the right choicein life.Teachers are the greatest people in the world, becauseteachers teach pupils not only how to read and write, but also howto be a real man. They are also kind to everybody and they do not want anyone to fall behind others. When students are in trouble, they help them in time.Surely the most important quality of a good teacher lies in his sense of responsibility and love for his students.Nowadays,do you know how to be a good teacher? In my opinion,it has three aspects. The first is that the teacher must know the subject and like it.That means that he must continue to study. The second is that the teacher likes students and enjoys their company in groups. If you do not like, then give up teaching. The third is kindness. That means he must help the slow students and correct their confusion. In short,a good teacher must know more about the world, have wider interest and spend all his life broadening the horizons of his spirit.[阅读障碍词]1.companion n.伙伴2.quality n.品质3.responsibility n.责任4.aspect n.方面5.confusion n.困惑;混淆6.horizon n.眼界[诱思导读]1.What's the most important quality of a good teacher according to the passage? It lies in his sense of responsibility and love for his students.2.In the author's opinion, what does“kindness”mean for a good teacher? It means he must help the slow students and correct their confusion.Ⅰ.匹配下列单词的词性及汉语意思( )1.amusing A.n.总结;摘要;提要( )2.energetic B.vt.(故意)避开( )3.intelligent C.vt.感激( )anised D.adj.有趣的;可笑的( )5.patient E.adj.有组织的;有系统的( )6.serious F.adj.严肃的( )7.avoid G.adj.聪明的( )8.appreciate H.adj.耐心的( )9.scientific I.adj.精力充沛的( )10.summary J.adj.科学的[答案]1-5DIGEH6-10FBCJAⅡ.选择下列句中词组的汉语意思A.确定;确信;查明;弄清楚B.同意;适合C.犯错误D.取得进步E.结果是F.事实上G.睡着H.讲笑话,开玩笑________ 2.Please make sure the light is turned off before you leave the office.________ 3.He made one big mistake, and as a result, he lost his job.________4.In fact, the patient has already known the truth about his condition.________ 5.He lay down on the sofa and soon fell asleep. ________ 6.He was always telling jokes and making people laugh.________ 7.He studied hard in English and made progress in his last examination.________ 8.You look well. The air and seafood in Sanya must agree with you, I suppose.________ [答案]1-4CAEF5-8GHDBMy New TeachersThey say that①first impressions(印象) are very important. My first impression of Mrs Li was that she was nervous②and shy.I think perhaps she was, as it was her first lesson with us③.But now, after two weeks, the class really likes working with her. She's kind and patient, and she explains English grammar so clearly that ④even I can understand it!-She avoids(避开) making you feel stupid!I've always hated(不喜欢) making mistakes or pronouncing a word incorrectly(不正确地) when I speak English, but Mrs Li just smiles,so that⑤you don't feel completely(十分地) stupid! Nearly all of them lived in England. In the next century, people from England started moving to other parts of the world, so English began to be spoken in many other countries. Today, more people speak English as their first, second or foreign language than ever before. China may have the largest number of English speakers.Native English speakers can understand each other even if they don’t speak the same kind of English. However, they may not be able tounderstand everything. For example, a British person may say to her friends, “would you please come up to my flat for a visit?” One of her American friends may then ask her, “Come up where?” Her Canadian friend might explain, “She means we should come up to her apartment.”So why has English change over time? All languages change when cultures communicate with one another. The English spoken between about AD 450 and 1150 was very different from the English spoken today. Actually, it was based more on German than present day English. Then from about 1150 to 1500 English changed even more. It became less like German, and more like French because those who ruled England at that time spoke French. It became closer to the language you are learning now. In the 1600’s, Shakespeare made use of a wider vocabulary than ever before. One big change in English usage happened when Noah Webster wrote the American Dictionary of the English Language, giving American English its own identity. Later, when some British people went to Australia, English began to be spoken there. Now Australian English has its own identity.English is also spoken as a foreign or second language in south Asia. India has a very large number of English speakers. This is because Britain ruled India from 1765 to 1947. During that time English became the language for government and education. English is also spoken inmany other countries in Africa and Asia, such as South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia. In China, English has been used in Hong Kong since about 1842. Today the number of people learning English in China is increasing rapidly. Will Chinese English become one of the world Englishes? Only time will tell.ComprehendingRead the passage and choose the correct answer.1.English has /had the most speakers ____.A. nowB. when the British ruled many parts of the worldC. in the time of ShakespeareD. in the 12th century2.
