汉服的起源作文英语The Origin of HanfuHanfu, also known as traditional Han clothing, refers to the traditional Chinese clothing worn by the Han Chinese people throughout China's history. The history of Hanfu can be traced back to the ancient times, and it has played a significant role in Chinese culture and fashion. In this essay, we will explore the origins and development of Hanfu. The roots of Hanfu can be traced back to the early Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties (c. 21st century BC – 256 BC) in ancient China. During this period, people wore clothing made of hemp or silk fabric, with different styles and designs depending on the wearer's social status and occupation. The clothing was loose, flowing, and elegant, with various accessories such as silk belts, jade pendants, and hair ornaments. The Han dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) saw the development and popularization of Hanfu as the dominant style of clothing in China. The Hanfu during this period was characterized by its loose-fitting robes with wide sleeves, long skirts, and high collars. The fabrics used were mainly silk, which was highly prized for its luxurious texture and vibrant colors. Hanfu also featuredelaborate embroidery, intricate patterns, and decorative motifs that symbolized wealth, status, and cultural identity.Throughout the centuries, Hanfu continued to evolve and adapt to changing fashion trends and social norms. During the Tang dynasty (618 – 907 AD), Hanfu underwent a transformation, with influences from Central Asian and Persian styles. The clothing became more form-fitting and elaborate, with the introduction of new fabrics and techniques such as brocade, damask, and velvet. The Song dynasty (960 – 1279 AD) marked a period of revival and innovation for Hanfu, with a focus on simplicity, elegance, and refinement. The clothing was characterized by its clean lines, subdued colors, and subtle decorations, reflecting the philosophical and aesthetic values of the time.During the Ming (1368 – 1644 AD) and Qing (1644 – 1912 AD) dynasties, Hanfu continued to evolve and adapt to new influences from different cultures and regions. The clothing became more elaborate, with intricate embroidery, colorful patterns, and elaborate accessories such as headdresses, jewelry, and footwear. However, with the rise of Western influence and modernization in the late Qing dynasty and Republican era,Hanfu began to decline in popularity and was gradually replaced by Western-style clothing. The Cultural Revolution (1966 – 1976) further marginalized Hanfu, as traditional clothing was seen as a symbol of feudalism and backwardness. In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in Hanfu among young Chinese people, as a way to reconnect with their cultural heritage and reclaim their identity. Hanfu enthusiasts have organized events, workshops, and online forums to promote the wearing of Hanfu and educate others about its history and significance. In conclusion, Hanfu is more than just clothing; it is a symbol of Chinese heritage, culture, and identity. Through its rich history and evolution, Hanfu has provided a glimpse into the artistic, social, and aesthetic values of the Chinese people throughout the centuries. As we look to the future, it is essential to preserve and cherish the traditions of Hanfu for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.。

Good morning everyone, my name is SONG Xiaoyuan , or you can call me Vivienne. Today, my topic is Traditional Han Clothing, which is called Hanfu in Chinese. And as you see, that is exactly what I wear today.

To begin my presentation, I’d like to talk about two Chinese words First. 1) The first one is HanFu. Han refers to Han Nationality and Fu refers to clothes. So Hanfu refers to the traditional clothing of the Chinese Han People, the nation’s largest ethnic group. 2) The second one is HuaXia. Before the Qin Dynasty, the majority people on the middle reaches of the Yellow River called themselves HuaXia, which means glorious. And HuaXia is often used to represent the Chinese civilization as a whole nowadays. But do you know the origin of this word?

Well, here it is written on an ancient Chinese book : “中国有礼仪之大,故称夏;有服章之美,谓之华。” 《春秋左传注疏》。The grandeur of rites and social etiquette (that) China has is named Xia; the beauty of the clothing and decoration is so called Hua. And HuaXia symbols the nationality with brilliant culture and beautiful clothing. In fact, the clothing here is exactly Hanfu. But Hanfu is just a name in modern society. In ancient times, the Han Nationality was called HuaXia Nationality, and their clothing, Hanfu, was called YiShang. (Yi refers to upper body clothes and Shang refers to lower body clothes)

This sentence indicates how Clothing plays an important role for its nationality and the characters of Hanfu really express many traditional cultures. (For this part, I put only some key words here, so just look at me please.) For formal clothes, 1) the Yi (the upper body part) is stitched together by 4 pieces of clothes which symbols “Four Seasons”; 2) and the Shang (the lower body part) is made by 12 pieces which symbols “Twelve Months”. 3) Every piece of clothing has a vertical (sutured) line in the center called ZhongFeng which alert us to be a man of integrity. 4) The sleeves are curved, means that the sky is round. And the overlapping collar is rectangle, means that the ground is square. 5) What’s more, the collar of Hanfu must be right crossed. We call it a y-shaped collar. And Hanfu is only fixed by laces, it does not use zippers or buttons, except that some kinds of Hanfu use metal buckles in the late Ming Dynasty.

Hanfu can be traced back to the Yellow Emperor, the great sage king of ancient China. And Hanfu itself has a recorded history of more than 3000 years. Throughout China's long history, the clothing of the Han people has undergone many changes. The costumes of each dynasty are different, reflecting the values and interests of each period. Typically we have: QuJu in Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasty; QiXiongRuQun in Tang Dynasty; BeiZi and RuQun in Song Dynasty; PiFeng and AoQun in Ming Dynasty. I’m sorry that I have showed you many pictures of girls but not boys. That is because personally, I think girls’ Hanfu is more beautiful than boys. And of course, there are also kinds of Hanfu for boys. Well, how about in Qing Dynasty? It was not until the Qing Dynasty that the Hanfu became forcibly replaced by the costume of Manchu. Since then, Hanfu has suffered a 367-year hiatus. Subsequently it has been a tremendous challenge for Han people to restore Hanfu as their representive traditional dress. And that is one of the reasons why so many people believe that Qipao, Tangzhuang or Zhongshanzhuang are typical traditional Han Clothing. In fact, this is inaccurate. They are influenced by western clothes and are fairly modern comparing with China’s thousands of years of history.

In order to reintroduce Hanfu into modern life, Hanfu Movement is created in China in nearly a decade mainly by the youth who love traditional culture. And recent years, some celebrities also join the rank of propaganda for Hanfu, for example, Mr. FANG Wenshan, a famous lyricist in China. As a director, he and actress Xu Jiao dressed in Hanfu at the Shanghai Film Festival this year to promote his first movie, Rhythm of the Rain, which contains lots of traditional cultures. In addition, the Fanfu Culture Week launched by FANG Wenshan and his friend ZHOU Jielun was successfully held in Xitang, Zhejiang Province last month (from November 1 to 3).

In the last part of my presentation, I’d like to show you some picture of me and my friends. The purpose of this speech is not to enforce everyone to wear Hanfu every day, but to learn more about it and appreciate its beauty. Thank you!
