American values

I want to talk about equal chance-based opportunity to start from scratch and achieve success through fair competition.

Equality of opportunity and competition is one of the basic American values. Americans believe in the ideal, as stated in their Declaration of Independence, that "all men are created equal". Although they sometimes violate the ideal in their daily lives, Americans have a deep faith that in some fundamental way all people are of equal value, that no one is born superior to anyone else. They have felt that because individuals are free from excessive political, religious, and social controls, they have a better chance for success. Particularly important is the lack of the hereditary aristocracy,

It is important to understand what Americans mean when they say they believe in equality of opportunity. They do not mean that everyone should be totally equal. However, they do mean that each individual should have an equal chance for success. American thinks highly of the persons who gain success by their hardworking, instead of relying on the family. In America, you can often see the person who is in low profile, while he (or she) is a relative of a successful person.
