(3)序数词的用法

a.序数词用于名词前，表示事物的顺序。

例如：The second month of the year is February. 一年中的第二个月是二月。

He is always the first to come to school.他总是第一个来学校。

b.用来表示楼层例如：He lives on the fourth floor.他住在四楼。

c.通常前面要加定冠词 the；但是如果序数词前有物主代词(his, her…)、指示代词(this, that…)等修饰时，则不必在用the。

on the second floor在二楼 on his tenth birthday在他十岁生日这天

d.基数词也可以表示顺序。只需将基数词放在它所修饰的名词之后(名词需大写) 即可，不需要添加定冠词。

3.时间的表达

(1)直接表达法

A. 整点o'clock须用单数，可以省略。

(2)间接表达法

A. 分钟 < 30分钟，past是介词，意思是“过”。

如： twenty past four 四点二十 eight past one 一点八分

B. 分钟 > 30分钟，to是介词，意思是“差”。

如： 8:35 可表示为twenty-five to nine 差二十五分钟九点，即八点三十五（其中的分钟数

twenty-five 是由60分钟减去35分钟得到的；钟点数nine是由8加上1得到的）。

如： 7:15可表示为seven fifteen或者a quarter past seven， 2:45可表示为 a quarter to three

如： 9:30 可表示为 half past nine，3:30可表示为 half past three。

★若表示的时间不够准确，可在时间前加上about，almost等。如：about eight （大约八点）almost two（快到两点）等。

★在具体时间钟点数前面应用介词at来表示在的意思。如：at nine 在九点钟，at about five thirty-five p.m. 大约在下午五点三十五分等。

101路公交车 Bus No.101 读作 bus number one hundred and one

5.年月日的表达

年份：用基数词表示，分两位两位的读，整百后读作hundred，整千后读作thousand 例 1869年 eighteen(hundred and) sixty-nine
