In American schools there is something called Homecoming Day. Many high schools and colleges with a football team have a homecoming game. This can be the most important event of the year except graduation day. Students plan homecoming day for many weeks in advance.

One day, when I was going to check in at an airport, I noticed there was a big problem. The counter person was telling everyone that all the planes were having problems and they would not be able to fly! And it was suggested that a bus would be provided to take us to Seattle. Everyone was worried, as we only had an hour and a half to make the connecting flight, and the bus was not even at the airport yet.
Finally, the bus pulled up, and the driver said, “They just pulled me out of bed after an all-night shift (夜班), and they expect me to get you to Seattle in time to catch your flight. Good Luck!”
Needless to say, everyone was in a really bad mood. I was loading my luggage into the bus (班卓琴) and had slung (吊) my banjo（ over my back when the driver said, “What? Are you going to play that in my bus?” “Well, really did not plan on it,” I replied. “I was only kidding,” said the driver. But I started thinking about it, and I pulled out the banjo. A worried, angry woman said, “Well, what if I don’t like it?” “Then tell me and I will stop,” I replied.
We drove off, and the tension (紧张) made the atmosphere in the bus horrendous!
Then I started plucking (弹奏) the old song Blue Skies. In a few minutes, I noticed everyone was singing along. I started to sing, too, and before long, the whole bus burst into song.
One song led to another, and everyone seemed to have a request. “Do you know You Are My Sunshine?” Everyone laughed and sang, with food passed around the bu s, and before long, the airport was in sight.
The bus driver called, “We made it! We never would have done it without the help of our banjo player.” Shouts of approval rang through the bus. People exchanged addresses and invitations to visit, and a few exchanged hugs. The driver said to me, “This wa s the best ride I ever had. Thanks for your music.”
A few weeks later, my mailbox was filled with letters from my new friends. Their letters reminded me of how, by reaching out with just a song or a bit of friendship, you can turn a very tense situation into a peaceful experience —a magical, musical bus ride.

We spend so much time waiting to be loved, hoping love will find us, and searching for that special love. Unfortunately, that’s not usually how li fe works. Loving yourself is mainly having self-respect, which is the only dependable way to create love in your own life, so you can share it with others. To be able to be loved, you must love and respect yourself as much as you do others. By doing so, you are enabling（能够有）positive energy and allowing for（考虑到）great situation to occur in your life.
Bringing joy to other people’s lives will help you find joy in your own. In addition, those who you treat well will likely repay you with the same kindness. Gradually, you will start to feel your worth through the smiles of gratitude. However, don’t just be very kind to people so you can receive royal treatment.
Don’t punish yourself for something you have done in the past. Instead, look at the mistake as a learning experience. Say to yourself now, “I forgive myself for..." Go to look in a mirror, and say it out loud to yourself. Look at yourself right in the eyes, and speak forgiveness like you mean it. If you do, laugh out loud, realizing that was then and this is now. Every day is a new beginning.
We all want a nice house, nice things, and someone to share our life with. Find your true wants objectively（客观地）. Are you eager for power, a religion, or simply a motive? Sometimes, it’s easier to hide the truth from yo urself, but figuring out what you really want will help you know yourself better. This will hopefully aid
you in answering important questions you often ask yourself.
Write about your experiences, good and bad. When you write down good experiences, allow yourself to feel those feelings. When you remember bad experiences, allow yourself to feel self-compassion(自我同情). Compassion is not self-pity, but rather a willingness to accept one’s own pain and regret.
