The importance of preventing infectious diseases "为题的范文,供考生参考。
In recent years, the global epidemic situation of infectious diseases is very serious. Although the incidence of many infectious diseases has decreased significantly, infectious diseases are still the main threat to human health in the world. This year's covid-19 pandemic, for example, killed thousands of people. I have to say that prevention and control of infectious diseases are very important. First, with globalization, the world is now a village. If there is an infectious disease, it will spread to every corner of the world very quickly. Secondly, infectious diseases are highly contagious and spread quickly, posing a serious threat to people's health and life safety. Finally, infectious diseases, once widespread, can overwhelm health systems and affect other basic systems. If not prevented, it will have a serious impact on the stability of the whole society. So we need to prevent and control infectious diseases and reduce their impact on people's health and society.2. 环境变化As an increasing number of natural resources have been overused, climate change becomes a heatedly debated issue around the world. Nowonder there are several consequences resulting from this phenomenon. One of the influences is millions of people suffer the heavy floods and droughts, as well as the deforestation and desertification. Well, making a living becomes tough in this situation, especially for those living on agriculture. Another impact is that transportation may come to a standstill, because bad weathers definitely cause flight delay and traffic jams.Measures should be taken immediately. Firstly, it is advisable that the authority enact related rules to limit the needless consumption and illegal acts. In addition, each one should enhance the environmental awareness and within our power do something beneficial. For example, we can carry around a canvas bag each time to replace plastic ones, eliminating white pollution. Only when all unit as one can we prevent the whole world from worse situation.3. 社区活动的重要性As the pace of urbanization speeds up, a host of large communities have been formed, especially in metropolis. Therefore, organizing appropriate community activities becomes particularly vital. For one thing, given that we are occupied with work and rarely go out, the activities can provide us opportunities to chat or interact with neighbors and reduce unnecessary conflicts. For instance, community staff can hold parents-child campaigns, in which children make new friends and parents share their experience about raising a child. For another thing, community activities affect positively in various aspects, which not only enrich our daily life, but provide physical and mental benefits. Communities, coupled with hospitals, offer door-to-door service such as physical examination to the elderly, thus guaranteeing their healthcondition. All in all, contemporary society should concentrate on community activities, which aim to bring benefits to residents.4. 存钱的重要性In terms of current depressed economic situation and potential risk, saving certain money seems to be agreed widely. The primary reason is to avoid short-term financial burden. When laid off or suffering from accidents and sickness, citizens have to take out sufficient money in order to go through the storm. On this condition, the money saved in advance matters a lot. Besides, after retiring, the elderly need abundant material resources to support themselves, so accumulating almost half of their salary from adulthood plays a significant role. Generally speaking, it is necessary to make budgets at the start of a month, which ensures that they can not only live a better life, but collect plenty of money. All in all, having a plan and following the schedule can do nothing but help you out in the long run.5. 对整容的看法What do you think of plastic surgery?Nowadays, more and more people tend to have a plastic surgery. People want to become more beautiful and attractive and keep their youth for a longer time. However, while people keen on improving their appearance, they are more likely to neglect the potential dangers behind plastic surgery. For one thing, driven by the money, some hospitals and doctors make exaggerating advertisements to attract people's attention, even cheat them. The fact is that they do not have those high technologies. We can not imagine how dangerous to the patients if their doctors arenot professional enough. Besides, there are many people whose body are sensitive and are under the great risks of infections and complications, even death. For another, the sufferers have to bear the curious looks from their friends and acquaintances after the operation. Sometimes, they themselves also have psychological problems for they think they are not real beauties, but artificial beauties. To sum up, in some extents, plastic surgery plays a positive role in our society , but we should never neglect those side effects I mentioned above. There are nothing wrong for one to pursue beauty, what we should do is to choose an appropriate method to achieve this goal and cherish what we have now.6. 如何与他人友好相处Getting along well with others is an essential capacity for every individual in our daily lives especially in such a competitively fierce society. To do it well, some vital factors should be taken into consideration.First and foremost, we should be honest to the people contacted with. As far as I am concerned, honesty is one of the most valuable personality in human beings. It makes us feel comfortable and sincere when we get along with others. And being honest can also make us express ourselves freely and excitedly, which renders us enthusiastic. Only when people treat each other frankly and honestly, can they build a trustworthy relationship from the bottom of heart and get along well. In addition, responsibility is another one everybody should equip with, especially when others are in trouble. The sense of responsibility and accountability strengthen the relationship between people, which can pose great security and safety to others.Above all, getting along well with each other will exert great influence on our lives and trying to embrace honesty, responsibility and kindness is of great importance forever.7. 增强中学生生活技能的重要性Promote Life Skills for Middle School StudentsEducation is about giving people the opportunity to develop their potential, their personality and their strengths. This does not merely mean learning new knowledge, but also developing abilities to make the most of life. These are called life skills-- including the inner capacities and the practical skills. We need to increase our life skills at every stage of life, especially the secondary education when students are in the stage of building their personality. For one thing, practical life skills are the kinds of manual skills the middle students need for the physical tasks they face. These are skills which are often available to middle school students leaving school. For another, in today's world all these skills are necessary, in order to face rapid change in society. They need to know how to cope with the flood of information and turn it into useful knowledge. They also need to learn how to handle changes in society and in their own lives. In conclusion, the middle school students should recognize the importance of life skills--both practical and psycho-social---as part of education which leads to the full development of human potential and to the development of society.

Each statement contains information given in one of the paragraphs_.Identify the paragraph from which the information is derived. You may choose a paragraph .more than once. Each paragraph is marked with a letter. Answer the questions by marking the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 _The Place Where the Poor Once ThrivedA)This is the land of opportunity. If that weren't already implied by the landscape-:---rolling green hills, palm trees, sun-kissed flowers-then it's evident in the many stories of people who grew up poor in these sleepy neighborhoods and rose to enormous success. People like Tri Tran, who fled Vietnam on a boat in 1986, showed up in San Jose with nothing, made it to MIT,.and then founded the food-delivery start-up Munchery, which is valued at $ 300 million.B)Indeed, data suggests that this is one of the best places to grow up poor-in America. A child born in theearly 1980s into a low-income family in San Jose had a 12. 9 percent chance of becoming a high earner as an adult, according to a landmark study released in 2014 by the economist Raj Chetty and his colleagues from Harvard and Berkeley. That number-12. 9 percent-may not seem remarkable, but it was: Kids in San Jose whose families fell in the bottom quintile (1i.,fi4t,) of income nationally had the best shot in the country at reaching the top quintile.C)By contrast, just 4. 4 percent of poor kids in Charlotte moved up to the top; in Detroit the figure was5.5 percent. San Jose had social mobility comparable to Denmark's and Canada's and higher thanother progressive cities such as Boston and Minneapolis.D)The reasons kids in San_ Jose performed so well might seem obvious. Some of the world's mostinnovative companies are located here, providing opportunities such as the one seized by a 12-year-old Mountain View resident named Steve Jobs when he called William Hewlett to ask for spare parts and subsequently received a summer job. This is a city of immigrants38 percent of the city's population today is foreign-born-and immigrants and their children have historically experienced significant upward mobility in America. The city has long had a large foreign-born population (26. 5 percent in 1990), leading to broader diversity, which, the Harvard .and Berkeley economists say, is a good predictor of mobility.E)Indeed, the streets of San Jose seem, in some ways, to embody the best of America. It's possible todrive in a matter of minutes from sleek ( i1t: ) office towers near the airport where people pitch ideas to investors, to· single-family homes with orange trees in their yards, or to a Vietnamese mall. The libraries here offer programs in 17 languages, and there are areas filled with small businesses owned by Vietnamese immigrants, Me,lican immigrants, Korean immigrants, and Filipino immigrants, to name a few.F)But researchers aren't sure exactly why poor kids in San Jose did so well. The city has a low prevalenceof children growing up in single-parent families, and a low level of concentrated poverty, both factors that usually mean a city allows for good intergenerational mobility. But San Jose also performs poorly on some of the measures correlated with good mobility. It is one of the·most unequal places out of the 741 that the researchers measured, and it has high degrees of racial and economic segregation ( 1\1").Its schools underperform based on how much money there is in the area, said Ben Scuderi, a predoctoral fellow at the Equality of Opportunity Project at Harvard, which uses big data to study how to improve economic opportunities for low-income children. "There's a lot going on here which we don't totally understand," he said. "It's interesting, because it kind of defies our expectations." G)The Chetty data shows that neighborhoods and places mattered for children born in the San Jose areaof the 1980s. Whether the city still allows for upward mobility of poor kids today, though, is up for debate. Some of the indicators such as income inequality; measured by the Equality of Opportunity Project for the year 2000, have only worsened in the past 16 years.H)Some San Jose residents say that as inequality has grown in recent years, upward mobility has becomemuch more difficult to achieve. As Silicon Valley has become home to more successful companies, the flood of people to the area has caused housing prices to skyrocket. By most measures, San Jose is no longer a place where low-income, or even middle-income families, can afford to live. Rents in San Jose grew 42. 6 percent between 2006 and 2014, which was the largest increase in the country during that time period. The city has a growing homelessness problem, which it tried. to address by shutting down "The Jungle," one of the largest homeless encampments ( 1 a-J",{tJt) in the nation, in 2014. Inequality is extreme. The Human Development Index-a measure of life expectancy, education and per capita, (A.) income-gives East San Jose a score of 4. 85 out of 10, while nearby Cupertino, where Apple's headquarters sits, receives a 9. 26. San Jose used to have _a happy mix of factors-cheap housing, closeness to a rapidly developing industry, tightly-knit immigrant communities-that together opened up the possibility of prosperity for even its poorest residents. But in recent years, housing prices have skyrocketed, the region's rich and poor have segregated, and middle-class jobs have disappeared. Given this, the future for the region's poor doesn't look nearly as bright as it once did.I)Leaders in San Jose are determined to make sure that the city regains its status as a place where evenpoor kids can access the resources to succeed. With Silicon Valley in its backyard, it certainly has the chance to do so. "I think there is a broad consciousness in the Valley that we can do better than to leave thousands of our neighbors behind through a period of extraordinary success," San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said.J)But in today's America-a land of rising inequality, increasing segregation, and stagnating (JI*) middle-class wages-can the San Jose region really once again become a place of opportunity?。
