HongKong & Shanghai Banking Corporation 1. Self introduction Good afternoon. I am of great honor to sit here and introduce myself to you. My name is wengxiauyu, I live in Nanjing since I was born. Now I am studying in the Nanjing normal university, and I will graduate in the year of 2014, after which I will be able to work full time.

When I was a freshman, I majored in telecommunication in the physics department of Nanjing Normal university. However, I had little interest in physics although I always performed well academically. Actually, after the college entrance examination, I intended to study finance or accounting in the university. But unfortunately, I did not perform as well as expected, so I missed the chance to study my dream major. When I heard that students can change their major following strict selection, I was determined to change my major. Having passed an exacting examination, I successfully transferred my major to Finance, an opportunity that I have worked hard to live up to ever since. As a result, I’ve embedded my interests in a deep resource of knowledge. Outstanding academic and practical experiences have laid a solid foundation for my career pursuit, which have confirmed my determination to apply to HSBC.

My robust motivation enabled me to obtain high scores across my major courses, outperforming most of my classmates with an average score of over 90 points and consequently winning scholarships each semester. However, I have always sought to go beyond my academic work, and tried to seize every opportunity to apply what I’ve learned through practical activities and internships.

As a junior student, I participated in the University’s Innovation Research and Training Programme, joining a group to undertake a project aimed at identifying the reasons why it is so hard for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to obtain finance from banking institutions, and at proposing possible solutions. Internships have been an equally important part of my development, offering remarkable enhancements to my practical abilities. The internship that benefited me most was the one in the Personal Credit and Loans Department at the Bank of Jiangsu. With such programs and internships that improve my Professional Competence, I became notably more competitive and competent in my major, as well as solidifying my career plans.

As for my personality, I am outgoing and warm-hearted. Besides, I am diligent and always ready for the challenge. I think that a graduate like me meet the requirements of a good employee, and I hope that I can be given the chance to work for HSBC, contributing to the bank and society.

2/ why HSBC First of all, the strength of HSBC impresses me very much. It is one of the leading global banks in the world, and is rated as china’s best foreign bank by Finance Asia for many years. HSBC offers a great variety of businesses. Its company value is the world’s local bank. And I appreciate it very much. Moreover, I have been wishing to work in a famous foreign bank for a long time. HSBC attracts me a lot. So I choose it. 3/ why BDP China Banker Development Programme is a fairly precious working opportunity for undergraduate student who graduate from university recently with no work experience. This program lasts two years and is supported by experienced managers and colleagues. The training will provide targeted exposure to different business streams.
