WRITING TASK 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this taskWrite about the following topic:Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer. What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. You should write at least 250 words.Education experts have spent years poring over surveys and compiling data, trying to come up with conclusive evidence as to the main function of a university. It seems in recent years the opinion swings from one extreme to the other. This essay will look at the arguments regarding this hot issue. One of the more compelling arguments for universities providing graduates with expertise for their future careers finds its origins in economics. Parents have been investing in their children’s college studies in hope that they will earn a decentjob with stable salary. Consequently, career preparation is becoming increasingly vital to the young people, especially in today's tight labor market with fewer jobs than before. Some people thus have called for universities to be more vocation-oriented because th at way not only the graduates’ employment rates would be enhanced but the students be motivated for being given an opportunity to succeed in their future professions. From a helicopter view, in countries, particularly developing ones, the economic advances need numerous professional talents in the fields like finance, management, legislation, medicine, thereby putting universities in a pivotal position of nurturing these professionals. However, reaching the conclusion that other functions, such as giving access to knowledge for its own sake, are no longer important is biased. For hundreds of years, especially in the west, the undergraduate education is, indeed, a liberal education, which means the undergraduates learn a wide range of curriculums such as psychology, economics, politics that has no direct relations to jobs. The upsides of this is that it firstly enables students to become broad-minded and help them lay a solid theoretical foundation, then they will be able to choose the most appropriate field based on their own interests for further studies.Personally, without suggesting that imparting career-oriented knowledge and skills is the sole function of modern universities, I think it is by no means a less important one. In any way, it is now increasingly acting as a gauge for judging a university and therefore becoming one of the primary functions of a university.雅思作文要想更进一步,请天天访问我们.感谢阅读《正版剑七test4 大作文原创范文》一文.。
国外有关青蛙的作文英语

As a high school student with a keen interest in the natural world, Ive always been fascinated by the diversity of life on our planet. One of the most intriguing creatures that has captured my imagination is the humble frog. This essay is an exploration of the importance of frogs in the ecosystem and the cultural significance they hold in various societies.Growing up, I was fortunate to have spent a lot of time in the countryside, where I could observe wildlife in its natural habitat. One of the most memorable experiences was the sight of a vibrant green frog perched on a lily pad in a nearby pond. The way it sat there, motionless, with its eyes wide open, was a testament to the stealth and patience that these creatures possess.Frogs are often referred to as indicators of environmental health due to their sensitivity to changes in their surroundings. They are amphibians, living part of their lives in water and part on land, making them uniquely positioned to reflect the health of both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. When I learned about this in my biology class, it struck me how crucial these seemingly small creatures are to the balance of nature. In terms of biodiversity, frogs are incredibly important. There are over6,000 known species of frogs, each with its own unique characteristics and adaptations. This diversity is not just a marvel to observe but also a critical component of the food chain. Frogs play a significant role in controlling insect populations, which in turn helps to maintain the health of plants and other animals that rely on them.Culturally, frogs have been revered in various societies throughout history. In ancient Egypt, they were associated with the goddess Heqet, who was believed to aid in childbirth and fertility. In many indigenous cultures, frogs are seen as symbols of transformation and rebirth, a reflection of their life cycle from tadpole to adult frog. One of the most fascinating aspects of frogs is their unique reproductive process. Unlike many animals, frogs lay their eggs in water, where the male fertilizes them externally. This process is not only a spectacle to witness but also a critical part of the life cycle that ensures the survival of the species. When I first observed this in a school biology lab, it was a humbling reminder of the complexity and beauty of life. However, frogs are facing numerous threats in the modern world. Habitat loss, pollution, and climate change have led to a decline in frog populations globally. This is a cause for concern, not just for the frogs themselves, but for the ecosystems they support. As Ive learned more about these issues, Ive become more determined to play my part in conservation efforts. In conclusion, frogs are more than just interesting creatures to observe they are vital components of our ecosystems and hold deep cultural significance. As a high school student, I am inspired to continue learning about these amazing animals and to advocate for their protection. The world would be a less vibrant place without the presence of frogs, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure their survival for future generations.。

Oryx and Crake ESSAYA recurring theme in literature is the classic war between a passion and responsibility. For instance a personal cause, a love, a desire for revenge, a determination to redress the wrong or some other emotion or drive that may conflict with moral duty. Choose a literary work in which a character confronts the demands of a private passion that conflicts with his or her responsibilities. In a well-written essay show clearly the nature of the conflict, its effects upon the character, and its significance to the work. The novel Oryx and Crake was written by Margaret Atwood in May of 2003. The novel revolves around the character Jimmy and also referred to as Snowman and his life. The novel gets its name from both characters that have such a big impact on Jimmy’s life. In the novel Oryx and Crake Jimmy has a best friend named Crake who he grew up with, played with and eventually worked with after high school. Another character that deeply impacts the life of both Jimmy and Snowman is Oryx. Oryx is a girl with such beauty that Jimmy was consumed by her most of his childhood with deep fantasies about her. Oryx finally became a reality in Jimmy’s future thanks to the help Crake. Jimmy and Oryx began to have a passionate relationship whether not knowing if its love or just sex they both enjoy each other’s company. Jimmy’s passion for Oryx was the conflict in Jimmy’s life that began to take a toll evidently ending in the downfall of everything he loved. The nature of the conflict that dealt with Oryx started at such a young age in Jimmy’s life. Jimmy first laid eyes on Oryx when he was only about fourteen and she was eight. When Jimmy and his best friend Crake would arrive home from school and spend the next countless hours surfing the web viewing things that were not always appropriate. On those inappropriate sites is where both Jimmy and Crake found Oryx standing there half naked with nothing but ribbons on a child pornography site. Jimmy was amazed at her beauty that is when Oryx started consuming Jimmy’s life. The next instance Crake was printing off the image and shoving it into Jimmy pocketwithout knowing that Jimmy would really keep that image so close and dear to him. For the next years Jimmy carried that picture folded up with him everywhere he went. The deep effects and raising conflicts did not happen until after Jimmy met Oryx in person. When Jimmy and Crake were working together at the institution Crake showed Jimmy his super human species he was creating named Crakers and their teacher who he found that was a perfect fit Oryx. That was when Oryx and Jimmy started becoming physically intimate with one another for the first time. The odd the thing was Oryx was in a relationship with both Crake and Jimmy and that is why Jimmy kept their relationship a secret. Not all secrets can be kept quiet and eventually Crake found out and passion that Jimmy had for Oryx caused her to lose her life to Crake when he slit her throat. That started the downward spiral of Jimmy’s life losing the only woman that made his life worth living, Just then society was crumbling at his feet thanks to Crake invention so Jimmy did not only lose the woman of his dreams Oryx but, death of his best friend happen and all society was lost except for Jimmy and the Crakers. The significance of Oryx played the major role in theme of love, downfall of Jimmy and conflicts in the Oryx and Crake. Oryx was love, perfection and beauty to Jimmy ever since he had seen her at the age of fourteen. Even though Oryx played the pos itive role is Jimmy’s life she also played the negative role in being his downfall. That if his passion was not so great for Oryx and he would not have lost her and his best friend to death by jealousy. Oryx became conflicts between Jimmy and his self that even after her death her voice and still haunted him, she was also conflicts between Jimmy and Crake the best friend bond that was evidently broken because of a girl that they both felt for. Oryx significance throughout the novel was the conflict whether it dealt with just Jimmy and him with others if Jimmy would have never had that passion for Oryx like he did he might not be the only human alive supposedly. In the novel Oryx and Crake there is a recurring theme of “love” or maybe passion that is seen over and over again. That the main character Jimmy is conflicted with his passion that it affects his responsibilities and his relationship with his best friend. That he tries to hid his passion but, has no such luck because his passion is too great. Oryx played more than just the female role in the novel but, she played for all the conflicts and the feelings of love and she stood for beauty. Jimmy walks the ground unable to forget the two people that had built him up and torn him down into the man he is, the two people that brought their lives together and ended them those two people are Oryx and Crake.。
