Teaching aims:
1. Students will be able to understand the listening context and get the general meanings.
2. Students will surely know the right listening steps and may put it into use in the following
study.
3. Students would have the right attitude towards stress and could handle with their
problems correctly.
Teaching important points:
1. Key vocabulary: studio, expert, suffer from, stress, pressure, social, reduce, organize, etc.
2. To master the right process of listening.
Teaching difficult points:
To understand each sentences when the speakers’ speaking is so fast.
Teaching methods:
1. Task-based method.
2. Group work method.
3. Audio-visual teaching method.
The main aim of senior high English learning is to develop students’ abilities of listening,
speaking, reading and writing. So I’ll give students enough time to read and speak. And students
will be created an interesting and knowledgeable environment about stress and relaxing. Before
listening, I’ll give students some tasks to do. Group work would fully arouse students’ interest.
Audio-visual teaching could cause students’ curiosity.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 warming up
Greetings to the class. Then play a relaxing song to all of the class, City of Sky. Ask the
students about their feelings after listening. Then catch the closest word to our topic—relaxing.
This activity aims to attract students’ attention and get them involved in the class.
Step 2 Main vocabulary

Put the main words on the screen, and add a picture beside to explain it. Then take off the
picture and ask the students about their meaning.
This activity’s aim is to let students be familiar with the content. The using of the picture is to
active the class.
Step 3 Guessing
Put the questions of page11 on the screen, and let students discuss it. Elicit several referees to
speak out their answers after about 3minutes discussing. Then summarize their answers and tell
them that these questions are all involved with the listening. And the real answers are in the
passage. What we are guessing will be listened in the next step.
This activity aims to improve their English expressing ability, and arouse their curiosity.
Step 4 Listening
Play the listening material and stop the playing before the main sentences come. Give students a
hint that these should be carefully listened. And select 2 or 3 students to repeat the ones.
This activity’s aim is to get the general idea of the passage.
Step 5 Checking
Summarize the whole passage and affirm the answers, then replay the content and let them
repeat in a low voice.
This activity aims to consolidate the listening effect and give them a feeling of achievement.
Step 6 Extra activity
Listen to music.
Select a popular song which is famous between students and play it with no requires while the
main lyrics are on the screen for the first time. Then talk with each partner about what this song is
talking about. After discussing, replay it and ask students to fill in the blanks with correct words.
And listen for the third time to check the answers.
Step 7 Homework
Collect some data of your favorite English song and introduce us to its general meaning.
