外事口译简介 1.外事翻译的内容: 外事翻译的内容主要是在各种外交、外事场合上 口头和书面的讲话和文件。在外事场合,口、笔 译往往同时使用。比如建交谈判、关于国际公约 的谈判,都要求译员既能口译,又能将所谈的内 容和结果落实到文字上,成为公报、公约、条约 、备忘录、协议等。有时是先口译,然后产生文 件。有时则在讲话、演讲前将稿件译好,再到现 场作口译。

2. 外事口译的特点: 首先,外事翻译政治性和政策性强。外事口译的内 容多是国家的立场、政策。稍有差错,就可能影响到 一个国家的政治、经济利益、形象、声誉、地位及其 国际关系等,就可能给国家和人民造成无可挽回的损 失。因此译者一定要严肃认真对待每次翻译。

把结构复杂且较长的定语从句后置,译成并列分句。翻译时可以 用两种方法来处理: A. 重复先行词。例如: China and Japan reached agreement on the issue of agriculture which was a major barrier for their bilateral relation since 1996.
This is the very knife which he used to murder the victim. 译:他就是用这把刀谋杀了受害人。
口译中定语从句的处理技巧(1)
B. 定语从句的动词在整个复合句中分量较重,可将其主句压缩成词组译 作主语,而把定语从句的动词译作其谓语。例如: “The best way to play basketball well is to take it easy and enjoy it,” said an American basketball player. 译:一位美国的篮球运动员曾说过:“要想打好篮球,最好的办法就是 打球时不要紧张,并享受其中。” He had great success in football which made him an idol in the eyes of every football player. 译:他在足球领域取得的成就使他成为每一个足球运动员的偶像。
译:他虽然经验不足,但很有进取心和创造力,而这正是在这一领域获 得成功的关键。

其次,外事翻译的时效性很强。口译工作的最大特点
是时间紧,要求译员当场完成翻译过程。有时前台在与某国谈判建交 问题,后台同时在翻译建交公报,随时根据前台的谈判情况进行修改 ,随时打出清样交前台使用。很多时候在领导人出访前不久,才把出 访时要用的讲话稿定稿交译员去翻,需要在短时间内完成翻译定稿、 打字、校对等多道程序。有时我国家领导人参加国际性首脑会议,在 开会现场根据会议进程和情况亲自手写即席发言稿或修改事先草拟的 发言稿,写完立即从会场传出来由在场外的笔译同志译成外语后,交 会场上的同声传译译员手中,以保证翻译效果。

定语就位置而言,有前置、后置和插入。定语从句有限定性和非限定
性定语从句两种。就性质和功能而言,可以译成条件、原因、结果、 目的、让步和转折等状语从句;就译文的形式来讲,可以译成并列句 、独立句和复合句等。
1. 限定性定语从句
限定性定语从句对其所修饰的先行词起限制性作用,与先行词关系非 常密切。翻译这类句子可以采用以下方法: 1.1 前置 把较短的定语从句译成带“的”的前置定语, 从而把复合句译成简单 句,反之亦然。例如: 1. He who doesn’t want to be a general isn’t a good soldier.
