Designing Beijing opera masks
Step 1 Lead-in
In English, we use adjectives to describe people and things. There are different kinds of adjectives.
1. Ask Ss to describe their partners using three adjectives.
2. Collect Ss’ answers and group them, pointing out some adjectives describe appearance while others are about personality.
3. Show some adjectives and let them guess the meaning and the oppposite word. These are some of the adjectives that are used to describe characteristics or personality.
Step 2 Listening
1. Ask Ss to read the instructions in part A on P42 to know about the task.
Get Ss to listen to the playwrighter talking about the different characters in the new play and write down each character’s personalit y.
