（1）前缀、后缀minibus childhood friendship minibus 一词由前缀“mini-”（意为“小型的、微型的”）和“bus”（意为“公共汽车”）组成，整个单词意为“小公共汽车”。

childhood 中的hood 为后缀，意为“……的状态，……的时（2）词性及词义转化一个单词或词组由某一种词类转化为另一种词类，叫转换。

转换后的词义与转换前有密切的关系，转化主要产生名词、形容词和副词。

最多的转化发生在名词与动词之间。

合成的词义也很容易从每个词原来的词义中推测出来。

英语词汇极为丰富，有不少单词是由两个自由词素构成的合成词。

如seabed，mass-produce，homemade，cool-headed 等。

只要知道两个自由词素的意思就可推断出合成词的意思。

A、合成形容词：warm—hearted , middle—aged , peace—loving, man—made , state—owned ,widespread , secondhand . （4）根据定义或解释。

B、In the past, the world seemed to run in an orderly way . Nowhowever, everything seems to be in the state of turmoil 根据转折词“however”可判断句子具有对比关系，orderly和turmoil 应为反义词，由此可猜出turmoil 意为“混乱”。

这时我们也能够推断出生词backward 的词义，“落后”。
