As if this isn’t coufusing enough, many essays and passages are popping up, mainly to argue that either a specialist or a generalist is better than the other, or to express the vague “opinion” that society needs both types of people, leaving readers even more bewildered. Why not put it in a practical way and settle the debate?Firstly, the term “specialist”and “generalist’are relative rather than absolute. A specialist doesn’t have to be a stubborn, nerd-like person who cannotunderstand the big picture. Also, a generalist, though he/she may know about more domains, is not necessarily able to plan reasonably. Besides, it’s worth pointing out that social-oriented professions are not always for generalists, as opposed to the common misunderstandings, and vice versa.Secondly, becoming a specialist or a generalist is a big decision made up of innumerable small ones over many years, rather than an event happening overnight. It depends on many factors,like one’s talents, family cultural evaluation, and so on. Since one is willing to find a suitable career and lead a satisfactory life, one should organize one’s learning and development in accordance with one’s conditions and goals. 前不久，世界知名办公方案提供商雷格斯发布的最新调查结果显示，中国内地上班族在过去一年内所承受的压力，位列全球第一。
“压力山大”的结果是中国城市中三分之二的上班族认为自己的身体状态处于亚健康状态，过劳死、过劳肥的阴影始终挥之不去。
A recent study in the International Journal of Obesity analyzed this problem. In brief, a group of 40 – 60 year old women and men were studied for their weight gain during a previous 12 month period via questionnaire.

The results were then adjusted for age, education, marital status, physical strain and bodymass index.

RESULTS: In the previous12 months, 25% of women and 19% of men reported weight gain. Work fatigue and working overtime were associated with weight gain in both sexes. Women who were dissatisfied with combining paid work and family life were more likely to have gained weight. Men with low job demands were less likely to have gained weight. All of these associations wereindependent of each other.
