通过阅读资料，他们知道了河流的特点和流向，沿途所要经历的地形等等，增长了地理方面的知识，开阔了视野。
课前要求同学们通过各种渠道进一步查询湄公河的资料，如地理位置，流域的地域特征等等，做好课前的准备，实际也是为了更好地理解文章特别是第三自然段做准备。
文章的内容对学生比较陌生，难度上也相对较大，因此，要合理分解文章内容，引导学生提炼文章重心。

二、学情分析1.所任教的学校学生英语基础相对比较薄弱，应该有梯度的设置任务，使用分层教学，提高学生的参与度，使不同层次的学生有机会展示自己，获得成就感，体验学习的快乐。
2.如何激发学生的学习兴趣也很关键，不仅在课堂中要有大量语言知识，而且还要融会大量的文化知识。
3.学生们已经初步了解了阅读的几个重要技巧，如快速阅读和细节阅读，但是需要反复的练习和巩固。
