（1）aloud：是副词,意思为：“出声地”。

重点在出声能让人听见,但声音不一定很大,常用在读书或说话上。

通常放在动词之后。

aloud没有比较级形式。

如: He read the story aloud to his son.他朗读那篇故事给他儿子听。

（2）loud：作形容词。

意思为：喧闹的，响亮的，大声的。

如：She spoke in a very loud voice.她声音洪亮的讲话。

作副词时, 意思为：喧闹地，响亮地，大声地。

如：Do you have to play that music so loud? 你非得把音乐放的那么响吗？loud 作非正式用语常为副词，几乎总是用于loud enough, as loud as 等短语中，或与too, very, so 等词连用。

如：Don’t play your music too loud. 你播放音乐声音别太大。

loud –louder- loudest. 如：She told us to speak a little louder. 她让我们说大声一点。

（3）loudly：是副词,与loud同义,有时两者可替换使用,但往往含有令人讨厌或打扰别人的意思,可位于动词之前或之后。

如: He does not talk loudly or laugh loudly in public. 他不当众大声谈笑。

2）instead：是副词，意思为：代替，顶替，反而，却。

如：Last summer I went to Beijing. This year I’m going to Shanghai instead.去年夏天我去北京, 今年我将要去上海。

instead of something/doing something.是动词加介词词组，意思为：代替，作为...的替换。

如：I will go instead of you. 我将代替你。

He stayed at home instead of going swimming.他呆在家里而不是去游泳。

3）unless：是连词，意思为：除非，如果不。

有时等于“if …not”本身就表示否定，引导条件状语从句，主句为将来时，条件状语从句用一般现在时表示将来。

如：My baby sister doesn’t cry unless she’s hungry. =My baby sister doesn’t cry if she isn’t hungry.我的小妹妹不饿是不会哭的。

但是这两个词还是有区别的，指将来可能发生或可能真实的情况用unless.如果知道没有发生或不真实则用if … not。

如：可以说If you weren’t always in such a hurry, your work would be much better. 不说Your work would be much better unless you were always in such hurry.4）afford :是动词，意思为：买得起，承担的起。

常与can, could，be able to 连用，尤用于否定句或疑问句。

如: Can you afford a new car? 你买得起一辆新的小汽车吗？can’t/couldn’t afford to do something can’t / couldn’t afford something意思是：支付不起…如：I can’t/couldn’t afford to buy the car. I can’t/couldn’t afford the car. 我买不起这个辆小车。

常用搭配end up doing, 意思为：终止做某事，结束做某事。

如：The party ended up singing. 晚会以唱歌而结束。

end up with，意思为：以…结束。

如：The party ended up with her singing. 晚会以她的歌唱而告终。

2）It’s +形容词+(for sb. ) to do.，意思为：(对于某人来说) 做某事… 如：It’s difficult (for me) to study English. 对于我来说学习英语太难了。

句中的it 是形式主语，真正的主语是to study English3）make mistakes，意思为：犯错，出错。

如：Don’t worry, we all make mistakes. 没关系，我们都会犯错。

mistake somebody for …意思为：把……错认为……。

如：I mistook him for his brother.我错把他认成了他的哥哥。

make mistakes (in) doing ，意思为：在干某事方面出错。

如：I often make mistakes in grammar. 我经常在语法上出错。

by mistake，意思为：错误地，无意中。

如：I took your bag instead of mine by mistake. 我不巧错拿了你的包。

mistake---mistook----mistaken4) be afraid to ,意思为：害怕去做，不敢去做。

如：Don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t understand. 你要是不懂，尽管问好了。

另外一个常用搭配be afraid of doing, 如：I’m afraid of being alone. 我害怕孤单。

I’m afraid (礼貌的说出令人不快、失望或感到遗憾的事)我怕，恐怕，很遗憾，对不起。

I’m afraid we can’t come. 很遗憾，我们来不了。

be terrified of，意思是：非常害怕的，极度恐惧的。

害怕的程度比be afraid of 深.。

如：I am terrified of losing you. 我真害怕失去你。
