In my opinion, the Gala, due to its popularity, shall not be cancelled in such haste. The Gala does not necessarily go against the fashion and novelty of the modern world. There are various programs on the Gala that may appeal to different audiences. Above all, the Gala provides a good chance for family members to gather together to celebrate the coming of New Year in a traditional way. If we could be together with the persons we love and savor our togetherness, why cancel the gala on CCTV?
Though the Gala is no longer popular with young people, I myelf enjoy watching the show with my family. Yet to maintain the interest of the young generation, the organizing committee should develop a program more exciting, more colorful and more entertaining than the previous ones. For example, it’s a good idea to invite some big names in China’s film and music industries to perform on the Gala stage.
