Qingming is an important festival in China when we sweep the tombs of our ancestors and make offerings to honor them. The garden recreates what life was like during the Qingming celebration back in the Song Dynasty over 1000 years ago!As soon as you enter the garden, you see a giant wall with these massive wooden gates. The gates are so tall, with detailed carved designs all over them. Once you go through, it's like stepping back in time to ancient China! There are little villages set up with houses, shops, restaurants, and even a working farm with fields and animals. Everything looks just like it did centuries ago during the Song Dynasty.My favorite part is wandering through the village and watching all the people in traditional costumes going about their daily lives. You can see ladies spinning yarn, bakers making fresh bread, artists painting beautiful scrolls, and even a teacher giving lessons to students in a little schoolroom! The costumes are so bright and colorful. I especially love the elaborate headpieces the women wear.There's also an area that recreates the traditions of Qingming Festival. You can watch villagers clearing weeds fromgrave mounds, burning offerings like paper money and crafts, and even witness a re-enactment of solemn ceremonies honoring the ancestors. Seeing it in person helps me understand more about this important holiday my family celebrates each year.Another cool area is the gardens and landscapes section. My brother and I love exploring here and spotting all the miniature scenes - there are tiny porcelain figures depicting people from history!But I think the riverbank area is the most fun. You can rent a boat and cruise along the Bian River, waving to people on the shore. Or you can join in traditional games and activities like kicking shuttlecocks, blowing molten iron to make sugar figures, and catching fish with birdnets. I'm not very good at those yet but it's entertaining to watch!There are also lots of shows and performances throughout the day. My favorites are the dragon dances, martial arts displays, folk music concerts, and the canal parade with all the elaborate golden boats. The costumes and choreography are just breathtaking.After walking around for hours, everyone needs a break. That's when we'll grab some yummy Song Dynasty snacks from the food stalls. My mouth waters just thinking about the candied hawthorn berries, fried dough twists, and hot candied sweet potatoes. You can also buy souvenirs like traditional fans, kites, painted masks, and calligraphy brushes.Every time I visit the Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden, I feel like I've traveled back to the days of ancient China. During the spring break, my family and I went on a really cool trip to Kaifeng, which is an old city in Henan Province, central China. Kaifeng used to be the capital of several dynasties a long, long time ago. There are many amazinghistorical sites there, but the place we visited that I liked the most was the Qingming Shanghe Garden. Let me tell you all about it!The Qingming Shanghe Garden is a huge park that recreates the annual Qingming Festival celebrations from the Northern Song Dynasty, which ruled over 900 years ago! It covers an area of over 300 acres, with gardens, artificial rivers, little villages, and tons of people dressed up in Song Dynasty clothing. As soon as you enter, it feels like you've traveled back in time!One of the highlights is the Grand Riverside Scene, which is a gigantic diorama showing what the Qingming Festival parade along the Bian River used to look like. It's 180 meters long and has over 25,000 ceramic figurines, each one painted by hand! The figurines depict all sorts of scenes from city life during the Song era - there are merchants, performers, boats, animals, and even a couple having a wedding ceremony. It's amazing how much detail there is. My favourite part has to be the battling sumo wrestlers!As well as the diorama, there are loads of other exhibits and activities spread across the different areas of the garden. You can see craftspeople doing traditional woodcarvings, brick-making, pottery and more. There are also recreations of old villages with little wooden houses, complete with canals, bridges and willowtrees. I really enjoyed walking through those and peeking into the houses to see what traditional furniture they had.My brother and I had fun dressing up in Song Dynasty costumes and taking goofy photos. You can also watch cultural performances of music, dance and acrobatics that were popular back then. I couldn't believe how those acrobats could bend their bodies! One section even had a little petting zoo with birds, rabbits and other small animals.But I think the part I loved most was the man-made river that winds through the park. You can hop on a little man-powered boat and have a boatman take you for a cruise along the river. The banks are lined with weeping willows and flowering trees. Everything looked so beautiful and peaceful. At one point our boatman even broke into song with his oar acting as a makeshift guitar! He had such a nice voice.I could go on and on, but I've already written so much! The Qingming Shanghe Garden was honestly one of the coolest places I've ever been. It made me feel like a time traveler getting to experience history in such an interactive way. If you ever find yourself in Kaifeng, you have to go check it out. I'm already bugging my parents to take me back again soon!篇4My Awesome Trip to the Qingming Riverside Scenic AreaLast week, my family and I went on a really fun trip to the Qingming Riverside Scenic Area in Kaifeng, which is in Henan Province. Kaifeng is an ancient city with a lot of cool history. I learned so many interesting things and had an amazing time!The Qingming Riverside Scenic Area is right next to the Yellow River. The Yellow River is one of the biggest and most important rivers in China. It has been called the "Mother River" because so many people have lived along it for thousands of years. The part of the river in Kaifeng is really beautiful with gardens, pavilions, and ancient buildings all around.When we first got there, we visited the Yellow River Culture Square. There were gigantic statues of famous people and animals from Chinese history and myths. My favorite was the huge dragon sculpture that curved all around. It looked so fierce and powerful! In the middle of the square, there was a model showing what Kaifeng looked like hundreds of years ago when itwas the capital. The city had a huge palace, temples, and a long section of the Yellow River ran right through it.Next, we walked along the riverbank to see some of the old architecture. There were pavilions built in the Song Dynasty style from over 800 years ago! The Dragon Pavilion was my favorite with its curvy roofs covered in green glazed tiles. I felt like I had traveled back in time to ancient China. We also saw the Thunder Peak Pagoda, which is a tall tower from the Ming Dynasty with seven stories.The gardens were so beautiful and relaxing. We strolled through the Peony Garden which had hundreds of different types of peonies blooming in vibrant colors like pink, red, yellow and white. The flowers were as big as my head! My little sister loved running around and smelling them. We also visited the Flower Nursery Garden which had bonsai trees, bamboo, and other plants that were perfectly trimmed into interesting shapes like animals.For lunch, we had some delicious Kaifeng snacks like shaobing, which are fluffy sesame flatbreads, and zhenggao, which are little sticky rice dumplings stuffed with sweet fillings. They were so yummy! While we were eating, we watched a performance of the Qinqiang Opera which originated in Kaifeng.The singing sounded so dramatic and the costumes were so colorful and elaborate.After lunch, we took a boat tour along the Yellow River. It was relaxing gliding past all the pavilions, gardens, and ancient architecture along the banks. Our guide told us stories about the history of Kaifeng and the Yellow River. He said that during the Northern Song Dynasty from 960-1127 AD, Kaifeng was one of the biggest and most prosperous cities in the world with over 1 million people living there!My favorite part of the boat tour was going through the Wind and Wave Pavilions. These are two pavilions built partially over the water connected by a walkway. As our boat passed under the walkway, it made the pavilions above look like they were floating on the river. It was such a cool sight!Before we left, we visited the Folk Culture Street which had shops and activities showing traditional culture and arts from the Kaifeng area. We saw people doing wood carving, making clay sculptures, blowing sugar figures, and dyeing cloth using natural plant dyes. I even got to try using a loom to weave a bookmark!The Qingming Riverside Scenic Area was awesome. I had so much fun learning about the ancient history, seeing the beautiful gardens and architecture, watching the cultural performances,and experiencing the traditional arts and crafts. Let me tell you all about it!First of all, this garden is absolutely huge! It's over 3 kilometers long along the riverside. When we first got there, I thought we were just going to a small park or something. But it turned out to be this massive garden with tons of different landscapes and scenes. It was really amazing.The garden is designed to look like a traditional Chinese painting from the Qingming era, which was a long time ago during the Northern Song Dynasty. Everything from the buildings to the bridges, rocks, trees and even the little streams was carefully planned out to recreate scenes from those old paintings. It felt like we had stepped right into one!There were so many cool things to see and explore. One part had these beautiful flowering gardens with peonies, chrysanthemums and lotus ponds. The lotus flowers were my favorite - they looked so pretty floating on the water. Another area recreated traditional villages and towns from that era, with old-style houses, shops and even a little makeshift market. I loved wandering through the little alleyways and courtyards.But I think the most mind-blowing part was the section that showed the Qingming Riverside Scene, which is this incredibly famous painting from way back then. This massive area stretched out along the river with detailed recreations of every single part of the painting! There were boats and bridges, people working in the fields, merchants selling goods, restaurants and inns. It was like the whole painting just came to life in 3D. My mind was blown!We spent hours just strolling through and marveling at everything. I felt like I had gone back in time to the ancient Song Dynasty. The Garden tries to show what life was like back then for regular people - farmers, merchants, scholars and nobles. It gave me a totally new appreciation for history that I never really had before from just reading books.Actually walking through the different re-created scenes made it all seem so real and vivid. I could imagine being a farmer tending to the crops, or a traveling merchant selling my wares on the river. How cool is that?!Apart from the main scenic areas, the Garden also had some other fun sections we explored. There were museums about the ancient painting techniques and traditional folk arts. And lots of little cultural shows and performances happening in different corners - music, dance, acrobatics, you name it!My favorite was probably the amazing acrobatics show with tumblers, tight-rope walkers and these breathtaking ballet-type dancers spinning around with those colorful ribbons. The costumes were just gorgeous and I was in complete awe watching those performers do all their incredible flips and tricks. Mom and Dad loved it too!When we finally left in the evening, my brain was just bursting with all the incredible things I had seen and experienced that day. The Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden is definitely the coolest garden I've ever been to in my life!
