They also can be used as an attractor to tourists. Their outcome will cause huge changes in the city's income which can be used to improve the infrastructure of the city like roads, bridges, hospitals and so on, and increases the living level of the citizens.Anther important reason is that historic buildings are symbols of cities. With no these historic buildings, a lot of cities will lose their meaning. In fact, a historic building not only is the symbol of a city, but also represents the culture of a country. For example, understand long history of China from the Great Wall, and know romantic art style of France from the Eiffel Tower. Therefore, without these historic buildings, cities, and even countries, will be definitely losing its special.Some people argue that we should destroy the old buildings into the modern ones. They claim that the modern buildings are suitable for living and can replace the old ones. However, their argument is weak because they do not examine all the facts. Although modern buildings is more suitable for nowadays peoples living, can be used to attract the tourists, but they can't replace the old ones. The modern buildings can't have the magic and originality of the old buildings.In conclusion, historical places in every city are the remarks of this city, and are used to attract tourists to the city, to improve the city's living level. Besides that, it’s clear that the modern ones can’t replace the historic buildings. So we should try our best to preserve the old historic buildings. Firstly, some of the buildings are of great historic values. For instence, the relics of Yuanmingyuan, it marked the invading war which England and France given to the chinese people. The pyramids in Egypt have demonstrate the prosperous culture in Acient Egypt. Secondly, there are historic buildings of specifically esthetic value. The Summer Palace and the Forbidden Chity in China are those archtecture which have attact a large number of tourists for a visit. Hence, we can not replace the old buildings for they are of great value to us.When it comes to the reasons for perserve the historic buildings, some of the buildings has become the historic landmrak. This opion can be best illustrate with the example that the great wall has alreadly become the unseperated part of the marp and it has been regarded as the symble of China. What’s more, some archtectrue are still being used till now, such as the Palais du Louvre and La Chapelle de Ronchgmp. Taking these into accout, we can not replace these buildings.In contrast, some old buildings which are leak ,decript and often unsafe, should be replaced by new and usefull modern buildings. In this way, we take advantage of every rescouses in our sciety. Besides, the old buildings many have a bad effect on the cityscape. In addition, theurban population boom calls for constructure of high-rise structures.Considering all the effects, I think that the building of significant should never been replaced, but it be preserved. However, the buildings will spoil the develop of the city should be destroyed.1.The first and important reason is that every old building represents an important piece of history. Undoubtedly, they can reflect contemporary culture, custom and life style, etc. For example, the Former Imperial Palace in China, where ancient emperors have ever stayed, has had a longstanding history as long as over 2,000 years. Through it, we can not only remember many famous historical events, but can also know that ancient people have grasped very advanced architecture techniques and methods.I believe if we demolish these valuable buildings, we will destroy an significantpiece of history also. More seriously, we won’t be able to rebuild them. What people need isn’t the duplication or copy. In many old cities, there are some old houses at where there were many important meetings hold. When we visited old meeting sites, we seemed to back to that turbulent or excited time. As if we can hear again what those important historic characters were talked about each other vigorously.Moving on to wider themes, I admit that some old buildings have got a bit dilapidated and unsightly, and haven’t generated any revenue for us any more. People nowadays can always obtain historic or cultural information through visiting these old buildings and sites. Although we can learn the pastfrom books, pictures and by visiting museums, nothing can compare with the actual historical buildings themselves, which can bring vivid educational material to us.Thirdly, historical buildings are a symbol of a city and a valuable tourist resource; therefore a city cannot go without historical buildings. Beijing is represented by the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, which are all historical relics. It is hard to imagine that someday the City of Beijing decides that all these buildings should be destroyed and modern buildings be built on their sites.Because those historical relics and buildings are too important to the city and can generate profound tourist income. I will never forget the long rhyme of Beijing Opera whi ch is not far from our Hutong. I will never forget my old friends and me frolicing in the ya rd. I will never forget the old man putting birds out in Hutong…However, several days ago, there was news that our courtyard house will be pulled down to make room for high-rise office buildings. I have become depressed. I know in the cour se of urban development, we often find ourselves confronted with the problem of old buil ding. Some people might think we should pull down the old houses and buildings in the w ay, but in my opinion, it is very rash decision to tear them down without full consideratio n, because it is a symbol of the city’s ancient civilization and present glory. As to me, it is also a treasure for my memory.。
