Let me tell you why.Plastic bags are made from oil and natural gas, which are non-renewable resources. That means they come from the ground and can't be replaced once we use them all up. Using too many plastic bags wastes these precious natural resources that could be used for other important things like heating our homes or fueling our cars.Not only that, but making plastic bags creates pollution and greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change and global warming. The factories that make the bags release harmful chemicals and gases into the air and water. This pollutes our environment and makes it harder for plants, animals, and people to survive.But the problems with plastic bags don't stop there. After we use them for a few minutes to carry our groceries or other items,we usually just throw them away. Unlike paper bags or cloth bags that can biodegrade over time, plastic bags last forever! They get buried in landfills where they'll still be hanging around 500 years from now. Yuck!Many plastic bags also end up as litter on the streets, in parks, or in the ocean. This litter is really dangerous for animals like birds, turtles, dolphins, and whales who might eat the bags by mistake or get tangled up in them. Every year, millions of animals are hurt or killed by plastic bag litter. That makes me so sad to think about.Some people say "Well, I just reuse my plastic bags as trash can liners or to pick up dog poop." But that's not a good solution because eventually those reused bags will also end up in a landfill or as litter. We need to cut way down on using plastic bags in the first place.Instead of plastic, we should use reusable bags made of cloth, canvas, or other sustainable materials. These reusable bags can be used over and over again for years before they wear out. They're better for the environment in so many ways.Paper bags are another option, especially since they can biodegrade much faster than plastic. But they still come fromcutting down trees and create waste, so reusable bags are the best choice.Banning plastic bags is something many countries, states, and cities around the world have already done successfully. Places like California, Hawaii, Kenya, and England now make stores charge for plastic bags or have banned them entirely. This has dramatically reduced plastic bag waste.I really hope my city and state will ban plastic bags too. As kids, we can encourage our parents and neighbors to start using reusable bags instead of plastic. We can write letters to our city leaders saying why plastic bags should be banned. Every little action we take will help protect animals and make the Earth a cleaner, greener place to live.At school, we should also find ways to reduce plastic bag use by not using them for kids' lunches or bake sales. Maybe we could even do a plastic bag trade-in where kids bring plastic bags from home and trade them for a free reusable bag!I know changing our habits and using less plastic will be hard at first. It might seem inconvenient to remember our reusable bags. But I'm sure it will get easier over time, just like buckling a seatbelt or recycling is easy now after doing it for years. Tiny steps can lead to huge changes that help the whole planet.Giving up plastic bags is something we all need to do for the sake of the environment and all the creatures we share it with. I don't want to imagine a future where there is litter and plastic everywhere, animals are going extinct, pollution is making people sick, and we've used up all our natural resources.Plastic bags might seem small, but when we use billions of them every year, the problem gets huge. Product Background
Packaging Knowledge notes that the first baggies and sandwich bags were
made in 1957. ("Plastic bags", n.d.) Nowadays, plastic bags are everywhere. The
plastic bags brings a lot of convenience to people. According to "The Worst Invention
of Mankind", plastic bags were known as "the worst human invention". (Lv Hongyu,
2010) According to Packaging Knowledge, "Most plastic bags are made from
polyethylene - more commonly known as polythene, which is made from crude oil
and natural gas, non-renewable resources (see Fig,1)." ("Plastic bags", n.d.) Plastic at
the same time bring convenience to people's lives, but also bring problems to the
environment. The plastic bag causes the white pollution. (see Fig.2).

Plastic bags in China
At present, China has lots of people and needs lots of plastic bags. These
dumped plastic bags were very dangerous to our environment. For protecting the
environment, the goverment made a law. From June 1 2008, the major shopping malls
in China will implement a compensation for the use of plastic bags. The customers
must pay for plastic bags.
Plastic bag drawbacks
First of all, waste plastics mixed in the soil with accumulate, it will affect the
crops to absorb nutrients and moisture, leading to crop failures. Secondly, plastic bags
are danger to children! In Wikipedia,"Small plastic bags, especially dry cleaning bags,
have the potential for causing suffocation. Every year about 25 children in the United
States suffocate due to plastic bags, most under the age of one." ("Plastic bags", 2012)
Thirdly, abandoned waste plastic products on land or in water, animals took them as
food and ingestion(see Fig.3). This may cause animals dead.

At last, waste plastics with landfill will take up a lot of land. The plastic bags need
hundreds of years to disapper.
Conclusion
We cannot never use plastic bag in our life. But we can use some other things to
instead of it. The paper bags and cloth bags can be the choice. They are not harmful to
the environment.
