Pump bases in process areas shall be either placed on stilts or mounted on concrete bases, where pump bases will be 50 mm higher than the top of the bund walls. Pumps shall be located to the outside edges of curbed areas and laid out for efficient access for mobile equipment and cranes to facilitate ease of maintenance and replacement. Pumps should be located close to equipment from which they take suction. Piping shall be designed to provide clearance for pump or driver removal and on end suction pumps, to permit removal of suction cover and pump impeller while the suction and discharge valves are in place.
